Vulcan was sleeping--sleeping the day away under a large tree. His red coat was warm from the sun’s shine and in it he found comfort to sleep. God he had become lazy… A few weeks ago he would never have been caught sleeping during the day like this, but as of late he found life rather… dull. His cubs were all grown, the mother of said cubs had a new lover… his father and sisters all had something of their own they were doing. He felt so out of place.
Yawning he pulled himself into a stretch and opened his eyes slowly. Today was such a lame day.

Black toed paws padded softly across the grasses. Golden-yellow eyes stared off into space, obviously deep in thought, as she wandered rather aimlessly. Life in a pride was much different than the life she was used to. It was much more difficult, especially with the knowledge she didn't have to just care for herself but the others who ranked below her. But it fit her so perfectly. It was just as her avian adviser had said, Zagaa'Tamanio had always been a leader. Since the day she was born.
Shaking her head the mostly white female pulled herself from her thoughts. She didn't need to dwell on those little facts any longer. She had a job to do. She needed to start to set up the path her son needed to take in order to prove himself as her successor should something happen to her.
The green-striped female knew that the thought of something happened was a wild one. After all she was incredibly healthy, young and fit. Still she didn't want to take any chances, especially since she had been taken advantage of before. It would not happen again, not to her, or her family.
Lifting her gaze up off the ground she saw something in the distance. Something that just didn't seem right to her. Curiosity struck she quickly made her way towards the figure only to stop and instantly move into an offensive stance.
It was a male, a red male to be exact. The worst kind.
