I haven't been able to confirm this yet, but I've been told that Richard O'Brien decided not to allow the remake. If anyone hears anything solid about this then please let me know.

I heard he was unhappy about it, but I don't think he has the power to stop it from happening.....unfortunately. crying

If he holds the rights, he has the right to stop it. But, if he still hold the rights, why would he even give them the rights to make a remake? Seems kind of odd, especially with the way he acted.

because he doesnt completely hold all the rights to the movie, he doesnt have the power to stop the remake. but he is very unhappy about it and refuses to be a part of it. (yay!)
