The day for scares and chills is again creeping around the corner, lurking in the shadows, waiting. Waiting till the clock strikes and it can leap out of its hiding place, and bring horrors and screams to all.
Yes, Halloween is here again.
This year, for Halloween in Ouran High School, the school board has decided to put the second years to the test, requesting them to arrange a Halloween ball. This is an opportunity for the parents to observe their children’s performance. Because of this, the students have been hard at work, preparing the event in each of their clubs, working hard, in the hopes of pleasing their parents.
And finally, the night has come.
The ball is held in the ballroom, and both parents and all students are invited to attend. Everyone is requested to turn up dressed in costumes.
There are delicate cobwebs made of silver adorning the room, candles held in gold intricate candlesticks, pumpkins carved with detailed facial expressions, sheets made from the finest silk... and many more beautiful decorations. It seems like the students have put in a lot of effort.
Will their parents think so, however?

Costume Contest
There will also be a costume contest held for all students entering the event. The first post in this thread should be made with the Ouran student account (Other posts can be made with main account), and the account must be dressed up in a Halloween costume. The costume will be judged by creativity, and also activity in the event thread.
There will be three prizes from this contest, and these lucky winners will stand to win a headshot/chibi drawn by our very talented artists, who have generously offered to do so, Ruisuu and Feanaro!

Minori was nervous.
It was supposed to be a holiday. Perhaps someone would have thrown a party like last year's. But noooo, the school had to make them arrange a Halloween ball and invite their parents to attend as well.
And of course, her parents accepted the invitation. She had frozen in fear when her mother had announced the decision over dinner, in that calm, level tone, yet so chilling to the bone. Minori knew enough of her mother to know what that meant.
It meant, of course, she would have to do her best for this event. Or else her mother would... Well, what would she do, really? They were already not talking much, after the debate over her designing skills. Still, things were very awkward around the house. Too awkward, Daddy had said. He had made frequent trips to her room, hinting that she should give in to her mother and stop this cold war. But both mother and daughter were stubborn...and it went on.
Father hoped, he said, that her efforts would make her mother proud and everything would be fine again. And besides, it was a chance to prove to both of them what she could do, and he assured her that he was confident of her ability.
The girl sighed, eyeing all the decorations once over again, checking her clipboard to see if they had missed anything. Everything on the list was done, ticked, and was perfect.
Hopefully, no disaster would happen. She blew out a sigh, adjusting the white lacy sleeves of her costume. It had been designed by herself, even the wings, which had seemed to take forever to do. It was hard, but worth it.

Her parents were quite the polar opposite types to deal with. Father was a chef and a strict man. He could easily fool around and joke with you but when the tables turn and business was business you could easily tell from his aura. Mother on the other hand was completely different. Growing up in a more open environment meant she was far more carefree, and patient with her daughter. Somehow she had survived the test of time and still retained many of her model looks and spirit from her younger years. Yet she too had her quieter times and could be quite enlightening.
Okay so maybe they weren't completely polar from each other, but it seemed odd how they wouldn't mind going to a Halloween party the school arranged. Father probably wanted to check up on his sponsored cafe, which would be open during the festivities. Mother might have wanted to mingle with the other parents. Tarii, however, didn't want anything to do with this party. Especially when it came to the outrageous costume Mazuka made for her to wear.
C'mon, why not wear it?! It looks retro and cool!
Do I have to bring the prop sniper rifle?
Of course! It's an accessory to the costume- it cannot be ignored under any legal circumstances.
I might get expel-
It's a fake gun, Tarii. Completely 100% fake in every way. You can't hurt anyone with it...unless you hit them over the head of course!~
In the end, as always, Tarii lost the argument and here she was with this ridiculous costume. Now since the students had to arrange the event they were here first. So far she had seen Minori looking over all decorations, looking nervously as if something invisible was out of place. She heard rumors about what was going on with Minori and her home life, but didn't particularly care. Mainly because this kind of thing was very typical with high class home life between parents and children.
Perhaps it was the wealth, and the power, seemed to go over the want, and need, of the child. Maybe that's why so many rich children are so distant from their parents in the future, Tarii would usually muse.
Tarii was in charge of making sure the cafe was running at 100% efficiency to please her father, and making sure the few maître d's of designated areas of the ballroom were prepared to lead their staff. All the food was set out lavishly on the sidelines of the ballroom, going from left to right with drinks, appetizers, main courses and deserts in that order. It was a simple enough job, and she just hoped dearly that the staff would not forget it--or else it would be her head spun by her father.
The costume was a tad bit annoying to walk around in, but she could manage it. The goggles were a little hard to see through so she would usually pick them up above her eyes, which would tilt her crown slightly. Leave it to Mazuka to overdo everything.

Things were just annoying her today. Dragging the large, man-sized corpse behind her, Hamako questioned even herself why she agreed to take it with her. Oh yes, that's right. Father, dear Father had brought up the idea of her bringing it with her. Hamako could remember the conversation like it was yesterday. Well, it was yesterday. Around the same time to be honest....Oh well! Flashback, head into flashback!
It was around the same time when Hamako was flustering over what to wear for the party. In truth, it was her first party at Ouran and she wanted to make it memorable. She spent her time within her room, jotting down ideas for a costume she adored and hopefully others would too. When she finally came to an agreement she would be a witch, the idea was suddenly overturned from her caretaker and her little cousin barging in. After some whines, tackles, and screams of, "You are going to be this no matter what! They will LOVE you!", she agreed. The new, BETTER, idea was for her to be one of those creepy girls with their hair sheltering their face. Original, yes. Overdone, probably. Scary, not so much.
When the opinions of her parents were asked, they obviously agreed with a yes. Of course, Hamako did not want to go along with it. She didn't even want to go to the party now due to the idea. But of course, parents are always right. She could not object, as Hamako does not have the gut to say no. Once again, Father, dearest Father, came up with an idea. He stated that Hamako should bring along Alex with her. To apparently, "bring spooks to the party." Alex, who was actually a life-sized puppet rather than a person, was the first major project her father had to work on. The puppet was for a play he was commissioned to make for. He made a large man-sized puppet out of plastic, weights, and cotton stuffing. He dubbed the puppet, "Alex" for fun. After the showing of the play, the puppet was stuffed up in the attic, to collect and feed on dust.
But with the idea of Hamako's father, Alex was given freedom once more. Before the party, Hamako was dolled up in a long white nightgown. It was tattered and sewn from her mother's workmanship. Afterwards, her little cousin, Pogi Paji, combed her hair in front of her face and sprayed entire cans of hair spray upon it to keep it in place. Since Alex could not walk, Hamako was forced to drag him with her all the way towards the party. With her small frame and lazy self, it was quite hard for her. Heck, it was hard for her even to get him through the front door. And here Hamako was, pushing the toppled over puppet through the entrance to try and get it out of everyone's way. Even worse, the puppet smelled of dust. This caused Hamako to cough.
To make her even more angry, it was quite hard to see through her hair. She would try to push small locks away from her face. But since the pieces of hair were stuck together, everything would move at once. Giving up, Hamako picked herself up and kicked the puppet with her foot, ignoring the pain as she stubbed her toe upon a weight she had kicked. She trailed off inside towards the party. Maybe she could help with something. Something to just take her mind off the damn puppet still left at the entrance.

A rather harassed looking Satu walked into the hall, his twin sister bouncing in happily behind him. His parents wern't long to follow him. It would be one of the first times people had seen Satus parents but it was very obvious whos parents they were. Satu was as tall as his father and just as tanned. He had his mothers shock of blond hair and her bright cleopatra eyes. He was almost the perfect cross between the two, taking the best parts of both parents.
Luka bounced in happily behind her brother. It was very obvious who she was aswell. Being very short, measuring in at a short 4'11 she looked like a doll. She was dressed up was Marie Antoinette, her long blond hair done up in ringlettes. All together she just looked adorable. She looked very similar to Satu though. The same eyes, the same coloured hair and the same lopsided smiled. She nattered away happily to Satu as he had a look around for his friends.
Satu was dressed up as Dr. Horrible, a mad scientist. His gloves was sort of uncomfortable but he didn't complain. Atleast he wasn't a cat this year. Last years cat costume was no longer allowed to be mentioned in Satus presence any more. He had had the piss taken out of him way too much for it. But atleast his costume this year was a little bit cooler. His sisters insisted that he learn some of the songs from the show aswell, since he was going as Dr. Horrible so he had. Not that he had any intention of actually singing them. Unfortinatly the night was young though and he had this somewhat ominious feeling that he would be roped into singing atleast one song from it.
He looked around for some people he knew, trying to ignore the nattering of his twin in his ear. He fixed his goggles slightly, looking around as best he could in the already rather dense crowd. His parents had already found some potention business partners and had left the two too their own mingeling.

Somehow, Mitsuko had forgotten about Halloween this year. Which is odd, to say the least, since Halloween was always one of her favourite holidays - after all, you can't really beat free candy and dressing up. Still, it had slipped her mind (somehow) this year, and in a moment of last minute panic, she had dug out her costume from last year, made a few adjustments, and voila. She was an angel again.
Still, she was rather fond of the costume, so she didn't mind too much. Adjusting her halo with one hand, she hugged a winged heart plushie with the other. She was excited for the party...
Although a little uncomfortable, as her parents trailed in behind her, taking in the surroundings with what looked like a grimace. Mitsuko didn't have to think too hard to know why they had come - to make sure that their daughter was behaving herself in front of the other students (none of her tackling tonight, unfortunately...or maybe) and so they could acquaint themselves with the other parents.
You had to wonder if sending their kid to Ouran was for the sake of their child, or their business. Most of the time, it seemed like the latter.
Shoving the thoughts of her mind and reminding herself that she was here to enjoy herself, the girl smiled brightly as she finally took a look around. It looked incredible. Much better than she had expected. As she glanced around, she caught sight of the other students - three fellow second yea students, and one first year. The moment her mother and father's backs were turned, she rose both arms into the air, waving at them enthusiastically...
And then dropped her arms abruptly and put a demure expression on her face when they turned around again.
This was going to be a troublesome night for her.

Convincing herself that everything was in place and was completely fine; which wasn't easy with all the doubts that had settled into her mind, Minori headed to the music room to place her clipboard. Things weren't easy when Kiyoshi wasn't usually around, and everyone had been busy. Very busy with school work, with their own responsibilities...
It was the same for her, really.
When she re-entered the ballroom, brown eyes had alighted curiously on...someone with long hair over her face, dragging what seemed, or was supposed to be, she reckoned, a corpse. Minori didn't think she knew the girl...but it was hard to tell with her hair over her face.
Being distracted also meant she did not notice the two until her father decided to announce their arrival. "Ah, Minori. How are things going, princess?"
Now was a flurry of emotions. Minori was glad, very glad her father was here, and spun around to face him with a grin, but her spirits couldn't lift very high when she noticed her mother on his arm. Still, her smile did not falter. "Father, Mother." She greeted with a bow of the head.
"It's fine, otou-san." She assured him, giggling. "And I'm not a princess, I'm supposed to be a fairy."
"A fairy princess." He winked at her, tapping the crown on her head. "Go mingle with your friends, we can entertain ourselves."
Minori nodded, leaving them to approach Satu's parents while she headed towards her friend. "Tsuko-chan! And ah...Takara-san." She greeted both Mitsuko's parents with a bow of the head. "Happy Halloween!"

With an inward sigh Miho stepped through the door her father held open for her. The gentle hand that he placed on her shoulder going almost unnoticed. Lifting her chin just slightly and straightening her back Miho stepped into the ballroom. Her black cape swished slightly behind her. The blue eyed girl had been focused on to many other things of late to be able to think of an original costume, so she had simply had a few changes made to last year's.
With her mother in the hospital, the social tasks of the house hold had all been piled onto Miho's shoulders. There were social gatherings to attend, and dinners to host for her father, these, along with her usual school work left Miho with almost no free time to herself. In fact she hadn't seen any students who weren't in her classroom in several months. This had also saved her the trouble of answering any uncomfortable questions about her mother, for she was sure the news must have spread by now. After all, many of the adults at the events she now attended were parents of Ouran students.
"Miho?"
She was so lost in thought that it took her a moment to realize that her father was speaking to her.
"Ah. Sorry, what?" She glanced up at him with an apologetic smile.
His smile was indulgent. "I asked, do you see anyone you know? I'd like to meet your friends."
His question caused another inward sigh. Friends? Automatically she glanced around for Mitsuko-chan, one of the few people she was sure would accept the claim of friend. Even though she hadn't seen her for several months, Miho was surprised that she felt a bit guilty about that.
Spotting the other girl across the room, Miho couldn't help chuckling at Mitsuko's quick changes of expression; It was obvious that her parents expected her to behave demurely, but her bubbly personality seemed to be bursting out at every moment they weren't looking.
Her father glanced down at her, surprised by the rare laughter, and followed her gaze across the room. "Is that one of your friends? Care to introduce me?"
Accepting the arm he offered her, Miho nodded and led him over to Mitsuko. Waiting for a moment that she didn't seem engaged by her parents, Miho touched her arm lightly. "Ah. Mistuko-chan?"

"So they're all completed, right?"
The frenzied head chief nodded, keeping his posture straight for all the children and their parents. He wore a huge smile, but she could tell. He was terrified. Her father, his employer, was here. If her father wasn't impressed, he could be sent packing the very next day. It was frightening, wasn't it?
"Good. I'm sure you'll do fine. You never have failed my father," Tarii complimented with a smile. He still looked nervous. Was it the fact that she was holding a giant gun? Most likely.
Waving him a hand farewell, Tarii walked out of the kitchen and back into the ballroom. More people had arrived now- classmates and their parents. From what she heard, some parents were not very pleasant at all. She would have to try to avoid contact with them. As for her own parents, Tarii was confident they would be fine.
"Tarii," a sweet voice chimed out. She peeked her head over her shoulder to find her mother, holding a champagne glass...filled with water. "You should have told me how nice your school was. I would have brought a camera! It's like being in a castle- royalty and all!"
Tarii sighed. Her mother was a model, but was never born into high class society like father. All she could think was that she was more than pleased with forgetting a camera. "Where is father?" Tarii questioned, picking up her goggles from her eyes.
"Your father? He said he was going to go and get me some shrimp at the buffet table. I do love shrimp- I must make sure they cooked it nicely, before ordering a plate of it."
Translation?
'If they didn't cook the shrimp correctly, then your father is going to kick them out of the kitchen.'
Her mother was so naive to her own demands; it was almost endearing.
