Has anyone done something based on Final Fantsy for a school homework assignment or project? I remember when I was in NC, I think 10th grade it was, unless it was 11th, but most likely 10th, for one of my computer classes I did a powerpoint on the differences, and I think similarities between a couple/few different Final Fantasies...

and right now I'm working on an art project where I'm making a collage from magazine and newspaper text and background into the form of Tifa, from a screenshot from Advent Children.

Those are just two I can think of, though I know, as far as other animes and games and things are concerned, I did do a mock e-bay type site selling Gundam Wing products ^^;.

UPDATE:

Part of it is cut off, and it's kinda ugly, but I finished my Design I project, and here's the half that has Tifa from Final Fantasy VII, Advent Children in it. I used text and background from newspapers and magazines and glued them onto a blown up snapshot from the movie...

Sorry if it stretches the page. This is MUCH SMALLER than actual size...

Well. . .

I did do powerpoint(s) on videogaming that had Final Fantasy in it, but it was only a small section.
I seem to recall a essay that had a part of it too; it was a personal essay about what made an impact in your life.

So FF impacted your life too? Sometimes I wish it didn't...but I confess, FF and some animes...made a big difference in my life...or more so many big differences.

I've been wanting, recently, to do a paper on either Squall's personality or something from VII. It's just so brilliant, and I want to tell other people who normally think that video games kill your brain that some of them are actually thought-provoking. My term paper I was considering doing about why RPGs (using Final Fantasy as my main example) are better than other video games, but I think I'm going with why anime is better than American cartoons instead.

As for what I have done, I think only little things like assignments in editing pictures in Photoshop and whatnot. Alas.

That paper still sounds good biggrin (mind Pm'ing me the final draft? I wanna read =P)

As for the other paper, what class was that going to be in? whee

...If I could be so lucky as to get Final Fantasy subjects for homework that would be so fantastic.

I am not that lucky, I have relatively normal classes.

Thank you Ravenwolf for being intelligent and knowing that just because you play lots of games or watch tv does not make you stupid. And... oh I think I just found what I've been looking for, so thanks!

Okay...the teachers didn't TELL me to do Final Fantasy, so it's not like those subjects were given to me. It's just have you ever had classes where you had to pick your topic? I just happened to be given enough freedom of the matter to pick FF for a topic/theme...

And while I did do the powerpoint project in high school, this art project is for college.

I'm actually not expecting a very good grade on it. My design teacher's scarey and picky, but I've still put time and effort into it...some effort at least and lots of time I think, and I'm not even done yet sad .

Anyway...point is...seize the opportunity/opportunities, so long as you're not going so far out there that you're guaranteed/have a high chance at failure.

Heh, sure, Kazuma. If if turns out well, I might put it on devART. I've certainly ranted about it enough to have plenty of talking (writing?) points. Any essays are just for regular English class... Well, AP Language and Composition if you want to be precise.

Some of the smartest people I know play video games! I mean, stuff like Grand Theft Auto and Halo only, not so much though.

I used FF cover designs as subject once when I was at university of applied sciences, studying graphic design. General background info of the series and analysis on brand/trademarks. It was more about how Squaresoft has build a brand to FF's and artistic analysis than introduction of games themselves.

One of my teachers once said that it's better to try something bit dangerous and new and fail than do something that you know for sure succeeds moderately. That was when I was making package design and planning mostly black cover box for a berry soup. It didn't come out as good as it could have, but I got better grade than those who made plain traditional packages.

Daring pays off. You just have to be careful if your topic is something out of ordinary, you should handle it seriously and as well as you can. Then they can't lower your grade and say that you were being smart a**. wink

Thanks for the advice ^^.

I finished my art projects today and my essay first draft...Thankfully, because it's all due tomorrow *sigh*. I hope I pass, but I might not...I think they're too big for me to scan the whole picture, but I'll try to scan at least part of it tonight either before or after printing my essay. If I don't get that done, oh well...I just won't be showing it off, that's all...

That sounds like awesome advice. Everyone in my English class for this essay is doing stuff like sexism and whether belief in God is innate and all of this deep crap and I feel weird writing about cartoons. sweatdrop

It has backfired on me once, though. But it was long ago in high school with a teacher who wasn't very open minded. English class and we had to write a news article. When you think of it, there is rarely any good news so me and my twin decided to write articles about accidents - not any happy go lucky 'someone rescued a kitten' story. I shamelessly stole a story (changed tenses to imperfect) from Dream Theaters album Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory. It was about a murder scene and love triangle. My clone wrote about accident where he was suffocated by a cat that slept on his face. (We had two fluffy cats then Scrooge and my own pearl, Miss Summerhay) Guess who two had to stay after class to 'discuss' with the teacher. wink

Zero, looks good. Edit pic little smaller and it'll look better. One pixel dark gray borders too. Where are you studying now?

Ouch. Wait, so he wrote about himself being suffocated? I guess I could understand a small problem with that, but I'd side with you, especially since I doubt the assignment was about creating a realistic article topic. If it was about that though, shame on you.

I would totally write about rescuing a kitten.

That's a pretty picture! ^_^ I did something similar once, with cutouts, and it was awful. It had to be a self-portrait though, so it was bound to turn out awful. sweatdrop
