I have already made this topic before, but it had to be redone here so post your recommendations here.

If you want something based on a space western feel to it I'd watch either Cowboy Bebop or something like Trigun. However Cowboy Bebop has more of a jazzy feel to it, but still something fun to watch lol. Trigun is amazing in my opinion, and would advise you to watch it ^^

Lets say you want something like a classic old Japanese style samurai anime then ima go with Ruroni Kenshin, Samurai 7, or Bleach. Kenshin is the best recommended I can give since Sam 7 is more futuristic, and Bleach deals more with modern/ spiritual kinda thing.

I love the hellsing manga!!! lots of blood... and Ive seen the Read or die movie i really liked it.

Well I have to say that I just recently went by and watched ALL of the FullMetal Alchemist episodes and it is truly amazing. It wasn't too over played over here in America because it was on Adult Swim unlike Naruto which is not taken over by stupid useless Wal-Mart toys and very small children and their too-blue ninja head bands. FMA was so heart wrenching with its emotion, sad at a lot of parts and humorous at others. The plot is so intricately woven from the very first to the very last episode. And unlike some animes, it has an ending! Though the ending was not too in my favor, I personally would've flipped it it was still a wonderful masterpiece.
I was fascinated with Death Note for a while, personally Light was my favorite character. And what he seemed to be doing wasn't too bad at all, until he began to lose his way and seem to be killing people to cover his tracks. I dont watch the anime, but I only have two books left to read in the series. I came to find out that I personally don't like ANY of the characters and find them hard to relate with. With the exception of Ryuk just because he's fun and interesting. I use to say Misa, but quite frankly shes so dim-witted and very naive. I mainly liked her just because of how the artist drew her.
Naruto is just plain fun, there's so many different arguments with it, but if you let your mind run wild with Naruto its such an adventure. Id have to say that I create so many different characters in my mind and play different scenarios, Naruto is a whole new world that captures you and makes you want to RP and read, and yes even watch no matter how annoying it is. Personally the show is so slow and make things extremely obvious seem like a big deal. And for awhile Naruto repetitive clone attack-failure became so agonizing. Sakuras uselessness in the pre-Shippuden was quite annoying as well.
An anime that is pretty low key is called +Anima. Its story takes on the account of four characters, +Animas are people that have abilities of Animals. Cooro, is the main protagonist, extremely witty funny and a true down to earth underdog. His animal, a crow, which makes him have black wings symbolizing an angel frequently in the anime, relates to his free spirited personality. There is also another boy Husky, hes abit more moody, his animal is fish which puts him in a mermaid like state which ends up being the beginning of a lot of trouble for him. The quiet bear animal type Senri which is one of personal favorite characters. And finally a quite annoying bat girl named Nana, a small pretty child but can be aggravating sometimes.
