 Koi was lounging comfortably in the sun, her bright pelt shining as she dozed. Liza was back with the males, she would most likely visit him later that day to see how things were faring. Though she had a love for him, she still longed for a mate of her own female origins... though she was content at that moment with lounging with nothing but her female prowess to keep her company.
Though the holiday of both her sisters having children passed now, her fears for their lineage had passed. NO one was sterile-as she had feared long ago. She sighed contentedly, her bright paws flexing. Yes, all was good in the life of Koi,
Serene and tranquil.

Melusine was getting into things again. She had to know everything about the land in which she lived. And to do so she had to meet everyone within it. Though her mother told her mot to bug others. Her body was mostly orange, she was almost a split image of her mother. A few differences here and there, but she never truly knew where she got it. Where her sister was mostly white, with red. Melusine was greatful she didn't have mostly white on her. Though, she had bits. Odd markings on her legs, and then some on her face as well. She had yellow fluff on her head and tail. Which she was more then proud of.
She wished she'd be the best warrior in the pride, and they'd raise her rank because of it. But she knew that wasn't likely to happen. For they were marked by the color of their fur, not how they were. Melusine was big for her age, yet still smaller then she wanted to be. She wanted to be big like her mother.
While wondering around, finally, she snapped out of her own thoughts to see someone who looked almost exactly like her mother. At first, she thought it was her. but too much yellow. Her mother's legs were not yellow. She gazed at the female, for she hadn't really seen much of anyone in the pride. Only one other cub other then her mother. Though, her mother did tell her about her two aunts she had. But that slipped her mind at the moment. "Who are you?" was all that came from the little girl's mouth.

Koi had just started dreaming something pleasent when a small voice rang out and she had to peek open an eye to see a brightly colored cub before her. She opened both her purple eyes to stare at the cub of her daughters, whom had a striking resemblance almost to all three sisters. Koi recalled seeing this little one as a tiny tiny babe, and figured it must be hard to remember when so young. She had been off doing her own thing away from her sisters lately, so she could only blame herself. "Hello, I am Koi. Aunt Koi..." She said with a pleasent ring.
She motioned for the little girl to come closer. "Is that really you little neice... my you've grown so much already... only seemed like last week you were tiny against your mothers side. " She said, crossing her yellow paws over each other and laying her head on them. "Goodness, I must be getting old. "

Melusine's ears flicked up as far as she could get them to go. So, this was one of her mother's sisters? "Your my mom's sister then? Her name is Kawarimono" She asked, even though she knew what the answer might be. Her tail lashed around playfully as she examined the other. She was more then pleased that she looked just like her mother, and now one of her mother's sisters. She wondered what the other one looked like.
Melu, without a worry in the world, motioned closer without hesitation. "I'm Melusine." She said happily with a smile. "Thank you! My sister grew too!" She said. Though her sister looked nothing like the family at all. Being all white with red on her. She tilted her head at her aunt. "You don't look old. You look beautiful" She told her aunt with a smile. She wondered if she had any cousins. "Do you have kids too?" She asked curiously.
She would like to meet some others that were related to her. It'd be sure fun to see some of them. She had no clue how big her family really was. Having only one sister, she was sure they had small families too.

Koi chuckled at the little one before her, looking at her with deep purple eyes. She looked just like she belonged in the family, which was something that made her sad sometimes, about her own cubs. Some barely looked anything at all like the small fish family. But none the less, she leaned over the little cub and gave her a lick behind the ear. "Yes, Kawarimono is my sister, and your other aunt is Gurami." She said, lifting her head proudly. "Your Mother is the last to give birth among us three sisters... I have children as well, though a few have left the pride..."
She looked off into the distance.

"Does that mean they aren't cubs anymore?" She asked kind of disappointed. Her ear twitched as it was licked, but other then that she just looked up at her aunt. It was sad to think she'd never meet some of her cousins. Though, there were a few that stayed in the pride, for her aunt never said that all of them left. "I couldn't leave the pride. My mommy and sister need me." She told her aunt.
Apparently her aunt would need her too, she thought as she smiled up at her. She seemed distant, and sad for a moment. "Mommy says that one of you is yellow, does that mean Aunt Gurami is all yellow?" She asked curiously. Yellow and orange were very noble colors to Melusine. Mostly because that was the color of her family, as well as bright and perfect for the pride they lived in.

Koi chuckled and nodded. Her children were almost adults now and this made her pleased, Liza had brought her great pride in raising the number of the clan. She smiled. "No, I am afraid they are not cubs anymore dear one... I am sorry to disappoint you." She said. "But my daughter Mawu is still here... she is the dark black lioness around with yellow markings." She added.
She chuckledd again. "Yes.. Gurami is all yellow, and your mother is all orange-and I am half and half. I am the oldest sister and have a little of each of my sisters... " She beamed down at the little bright cub. "And you look very much like your mother dear Melusine."

Melusine raised a brow. Black, did that mean Melusine would be a higher rank then one of her cousins? Being so young, and already she could be in a high rank. "Well, not totally like her, I got white, and more yellow then she." She spoke. She wish she didn't, she wished she had no white at all, but no matter. She was the same with or without the color.
"So, that makes me and my sister the only cubs?" She asked. So unsure if that was true. Of course, not the only cubs in the pride, but the only ones in the clan. She lashed her tail about watching her aunt.

Koi gazed at the little lioness with admiration and hope for her-for she would someday bring the next generation of Kunanda cubs. Someday, Koi would pass on and if she did well-would be reborn again. Someday, this little lioness would be older than she.
"Nothings wrong with that... you have the colors of the family... and a little white never hurt anyone-now did it?" She asked, looking assuringly at her neice. "And there are most likely cubs somewhere-this is a large area... I think if you keep looking you will find some." -hopefully girls her age- "but none the less... there will be cubs to play with at one time and none in another... "

"That's sad to think about. Cubs should always be around." She spoke. Or course this was only because she was still quite young. She didn't reply to the white thing. She still wished she didn't have any. But no matter, she did have the family color, and that was more then enough.
"Aunt Koi." She spoke. "Will you have any more cubs?" She asked She always wondered what'd happen if someone had a second litter. was it possible? She never thought about asking her mother. She didn't want to wait to she her mother become pregnant to find out.

Koi had to stiffle a chuckle. Of course, a little lonely lioness cub would wish that but in the future-when she herself was a mother-she'd wish there were less of them at times. She recalled having her cubs and Gurami's cubs running around-and the happiness and sheer-tireness they brought with them. At least she had Liza there along the way-to assist. She smiled. "Doesn't your sister play with you Melusine?" She asked, looking around to see if she could spot the orange and black child.
The next question brought her to her senses and even if she could have held it back, she smiled wide. "Yes... soon hopefully... " She gazed into the distance to see if Liza was present. "My children are old enough and do not require me to survive, so I suppose it is time again for me to become a mother... But I have to discuss that with their father first.."

"No, she doesn't." She said kinda sadly. "My sister is always trying to clean things up." She didn't want to say why she did those things. Her sister wasn't exactly what her mother wanted. She wanted more color on her, but instead got more white then anything.
As the other spoke again she became very happy. "YAY! More cousins!" She said excitingly as if her aunt was already pregnant. She hoped for many female cousins. She wanted more to play with and have adventures with. Though, she did already have best friend, or she thought the other was her best friend. Ramla. Her first real friend to play with and have a secret hide out with.

Koi grinned at the little one-though she was concerned at the words that escaped the little ones mouth. She had seen the little orange, black and white lioness only when they were tiny-tiny... She could not help but notice that she was a bit diffrent. Koi would understand this-one of her daughters was black as the night and even koi, being a mother, was saddened at her colors. But she loved her child dearly and did not blame her.
"Yes... more cousins. But like I said before-I have to speak to Liza..." She said softly. Though in her heart-that was not the reason behind it. She wanted to find a female mate for her to share her life with-along with Liza-whom she cared for dearly. "It is very complicated... you will understand someday, child." She assured her.

Melusine nodded at her aunt. She knew that that was something little ones weren't suppose to know of yet. Her mother told her once, that babies happened when you were an adult. Flicking her tail she smiled and couldn't imagine what it'd be like to have more cousins. Or even any cousins for that matter.
She wanted others to play with and to become her friend. It was hard enough that her best friend was from a different clan. A tougher clan out of the pride she was told. " Liza.... He's my uncle?" She asked. Not really sure if that was a male she was talking about.

Koi couldn't belive she hadn't told the little one about Liza yet. She cared for him deeply, greatly-but there still was a void in her heart where she lacked the true feelings she sought. She smiled down to the little lioness. "Yes... he is your uncle. I found him wandering alone by himself. He was a slave to a pride where he did not belong. I saw his potential... and brought him here. "
She smiled and tucked her muzzle into her fluffy chest. "He has a few problems but he was born and raised to be one of us... one of our pride. I saved him and gave him this life back... and now he is happy and he has given me cubs... and I am gratheful."
She looked down Melu again. "His mother's name was Mawu-and we named our child after her to remember her... because of her loyalty to the pride."
