Kain stepped off the bus, and ran a short distance just to get away from the bus driver. He had been questioning Kain the whole journey, and teasing him. He could understand people had different kinds of humor but that was just plain unfair.
Once he was far enough away from the peering eyes and muttering he hovered as still as possible until he was certain the bus had left before taking in his sorroundings.
The herald found himself in a place not quite as familar as he thought. The sounds were all wrong, and the tiny vibrations gave a whole different picture in which he had orginally hope. Kain Nigel had found himself in a field, though considering it was so soft maybe some sort of paddock. He must of missed his stop a while back, no wonder why they teased him. Least though it wasn't too far to get back. He gave his wings a quick sweep but found it difficult to fly without good thermals, and having glass wings did make him quite wary about flying without them.

Alice was distraught, above all else. She had been left at the Dartsmoore Estate for the day while her father and Bella were on a special trip to the city and the girl had been left at the Dartsmoore household. It had been believed that Bailey or Dartsmoore herself would be watching the child, but the boy hadn't known that Alice was to be coming over and Dartsmoore had very...strange childcare methods. The woman felt that allowing a child to wander the fields on their own was okay provided they had boundaries - which, for Alice, had been "Don't stray so far that you can't see the Castle."
The guidelines worked perfectly for the child usually - she had had to stay over a few days before - but on this day, the Herald had been distracted by chasing a butterfly for a little while and completely lost track of time and location. Now it was quite dark and she was no where near able to see the Dartsmoores' castle!
Wandering along sadly, sniffling and looking at her feet, the girl was quite surprised when she lightly bumped into another person.
"oh! I'm s-so s-s-sorry!" she squeaked softly, squinting up at the person.

"Oooff" Kain gasped as he was knocked by a small moving object. It was obvious he wasn't consentrating as much as usual otherwise he might of casually slipped to the side. Since this wasn't the case so, he had to deal with a the consquences, that of a slightly numb arm and trying to find out what exactly hit him. Before he could even guess what might of happened a voice stole his thoughts. It took him a little while to comprehend what was going on, as he was still kind of shocked by the two earlier events.
He swept back his silky black hair and faced the direction of the voice. Kain also decided to concentrate a little harder on his sense of 'vibrations' this time. The herald calmed himself down and responded in the only way he knew how. "No need to be sorry....I really shouldn't of been in the way, not like i should be here anyway." He bowed slightly before continuing. "My name is Kain Nigel, can I help you at all?" Tamuril had taught him a lot on respect, unfortunately Bethan had drilled into him that females should be treated as 'higher' than males, no what what race or species.

"I-I don't kn-kn-know. I-I'm lost. D-dyou know where we are? I'm very far from home and I'm sc-scared!" the child whispered, her tone small and frightened. She would be more affectionate and polite usually, but she was far from home and worried by then.

Kain put out a hand sensing the girls fear. He rested it on her shoulder fearing that she may hit him like the others if he hugged her. "There, there" he cooed "Please don't panic yourself, it'll only make the situation worse, as you forget more than you need to....right now it dosn't really matter where we are, but if you tell me where your home is i can try and find out which direction we should go in" he wanted to ask why she was alone, but it seemed a little too much at once, especially in the state of mind she was in.

Alice, being freaked out and all, immediately clung to the nice person who was trying to help her, wrapping her small arms around his waist and hugging a little, hiding her face somewhat.
"I-I don't quite know the address. It's g-got a big c-castle there though. I don't know what direction it's in though. I got all mixed up trying to get back and only got more lost." the child sobbed.

At this very point in time, Kain really wished he could see, at least if he could see maybe a map would help, or he could fly around a bit and see if this placed existed. Alas, that could never happen unless it was pitch black or close to it. The last time he had taken off his blindfold, bad things happened....not the normal everyday bad thing, but the kind of thing you would proberly find on the news.
The herald inside though, wasn't as bad as the power he controlled, or more or less controlled him. He held the small girl close, protectly placing his wings around her. Thankfull that this time affection and caring did not end in a painful slap, but there was still time he guessed. Gentally running his slim finger through her hair he spoke in a soothing tone. "Its okay, im sure if it really is a castle then we should be able to find it, or at least find someone that could direct us the right way. We are not too far from town...at least i think so." He paused thinking for a moment. "What does this castle look like?"

Alice was quite glad to be hugged - she was an affectionate creature both in joy and sorrow, so being held was a necessity during times when she was upset. Softly, her own wings fluttered against those of the male holding her, soft feathers brushing glass lightly.
"I dunno. All the castles I've seen look the same. When I couldn't find the castle, I tried to find a place with a phone so I could call Daddy to take me home - I was staying with friends of his today - but I don't know where to find a phone out here."

Kain smiled because of two reasons, Alice's feathers was tickling him slightly as well as the fact there was a way to get her back home. Problem is though, he had no mobile, and not much experience with a phone except the one at Bethans. Luckily though, he did know most of the phone boxes around, from being on the street so long. "We could take the next bus back to town and call up home if you know the number, but they must be out looking for you right now.
Kain knew it must be late, as the further time went on, the less and less light was formed. It wouldn't really be long before he could actually see here but that wasn't important now. Getting Alice home was his main objective. Sadly Kain knew that if he did get her home, he would proberly never see her again, guardians could be cruel when it came to friendships, he was also quite fearful of the police. He would have to worry about that later though, told himself that he didn't even know her name, they were just strangers. It was still a hard concept to grip though.

The child blinked a few times, mulling over the concept before her. He could get her back home? He could get her back home!
"Ooh that would be very nice! Daddy and Bella must be so worried for me - poor Daddy, he gets worried a lot even when I'm nearby, he must be really upset now!" the child didn't like seeing Hatty worry - he was a good Daddy and he deserved to be happy! "I know my number - Daddy taught me to remember it just in case. He thinks of lots of things."

Kain may of lived at Bethans for a couple months now, but he still hadn't rememorized the house number. To him it seemed pointless since no-one would pick up for him, unless they were demanding him back. He only ever answered the phone, and i was difficult to dial numbers in the first place. Though he didn't say it, he admired the fact the young girl before him knew how to call home.
The herald reached for Alice's hand and removed the other from around her in order to rumage through the lining of his shirt. He may not of had any pockets but had managed to secure small poccessions on his person anyway. From the lining he pulled out a few shiny coins that sparkled in the light. He moved his thumb over the coins feeling which was which working out if they had enough to get back as well as for the payphone. Seeing as his parania had saved him bus fare here, he only just managed to scrape enough together for both. They only had one chance to call home though, and if they didn't pick up he would have to call on his guardian for help, which wasn't the best scenario he could think of. I have enough money to get back for both of us...you need to come this way for the bus stop. Though it might be a bit of a wait when we get there, are you okay with this?" he asked more to reassure himself than Alice. Though he was almost certain of her answer from her last few words.

"Okay." the child said with a nod, still carefully holding onto the older Herald so as not to get lost. He would lead the way, she was sure of that.
"I-it's really nice that you're helping me. Daddy will want to thank you for it...I want to thank you too but I can't yet. When I get home I can." the small child tried to assure her companion, nodding lightly a bit. Nice helpful people who take care of small lost and distressed Alices should always get something nice for their trouble, at least in her book.

Kain dropped the coins carefully back into the lining of his shirt. Hopefully he would not need them again today. He place one wing over the child protecting her from anything around in the area. Being caught off guard once was enough, he would not be made a fool twice in one evening. At least he hoped this was the case. Moonlight flickers over his wings causing the colours to reflect on the small herald beneath them. Kain made sure that the wings did not actually touch Alice as they would be quite cold by now. Glass did not really keep in the heat well and they were already quite numb presently. "You don't need to be thankful for anything...just seeing you home safe will be enough." He started walking slowly at first in the direction of the bus stop. The only reason being that every now and then he would have the check the sounds and take in the area as he wasn't used to it yet.

Alice followed carefully and quietly, holding onto the other as they went. She was glad she'd been found by someone nice at least - her Daddy warned her about strangers, though so far the girl was quite lucky to only meet nice ones.

Kain Nigel had finally found someone he wasn't nervious or overly catious around. He was just basking in the moment when he came across the bus stop. His black mist wrapped around the post aborbing the mositure that had gathered on it, snapping the Herald back to relatity. There had to be some way to keep this friendship...well he was taking her home to at least he would know where she lives. Maybe he could ask her guardian, no he was too nervious for that. He stopped his trial of thought for the second time realising that he had just stopped possibly leaving Alice bewildered. He coughed gentally to get her attension. "Erm, i usually just wait for the buses as i can't read the times....is there any chance you can read them for me?" he asked. Another problem was the fact he didn't know what the time was...but he had a rough idea.
