It is said that the soul is ethereal and not connected to the physical world, by dualists. I would tend to agree.

They say it is imperceptible, but I can seem to slide into a soulstuff state, which isn't like, channeling a spell or meditating, but it's what I see when I condense down truly what I am.

When I say slide, I mean it seems like I go "back" into my head, then up. I go far back, maybe abut 8 feet or so, and see a black field with stars. Sometimes the stars are arranged in a wall at about a 45 degree angle, other times they are in a round clump on the lower left/center of the field.

While this is happening, I can tell that my eyes are reporting things, and I can "see" still, but it is more sepia and brownish. I would be lazy and say that everything is faded and blended, but I think it's more that I'm just ignoring them, I think the images are really just as clear but I'm not mentally focused on them.

This is my evidence of dualism. It sounds hokey, but I must stress that it is not any form of magic, I don't expect to be able to use telekenisis or anything, and that it won;'t change your life.

Depends. Personally, I consider everything I read to effect my life, whether I take it to heart or not.

What is dualism in the sense that you use it?

Also, by connected to the physical, do you mean someone has said that the soul is limited to the physical? As in, restricted to remaining inside the physical location of the body until and/or beyond death? It's been a long day, just clarifying.

dualists believe that the mind is separate from the body and separate from the physical realm. It is often called the soul, or soulstuff. In the physical realm, it has no mass, volume, or perception.

Dualists believe that the soul is connected, of course, but separate. As of what EXACTLY it is is rather vague, but it is the thinking, self-aware aspect.

I've noticed some concepts like that before but I'm not sure if it is exactly what your talking about. I'm aware of a sort of energy that is the real me inside my physical form but not really a part of me physically and I can sometimes move parts of it outside of me and move them around outside my body but then I lose control over my corresponding physical limb, again I'm not sure whether this what your talking about but i thought it might be interesting.

Ah. I've only once heard a different theory, so I've been taking that as a cultural given.

While I believe that is true to an extent, I take hauntings into account and say that there's no complete separation of the soul from the physical, even after death. Ghosts are noticed because of their effect on the physical world, whether it be through light, sound, kinetic movement of objects, or touch. Some effects can be discounted as evidence, such as "a chill up your spine" or a witnessed/experienced event with no objective recording (ie. a security camera), because it's possible that the experience was something perceived through the witness' soul(s) rather than through their physical senses. However, incidents recorded on fully functional equipment, such as a security camera or automatic alarm system, seem to plausibly indicate that ghosts--which are generally considered souls that have not yet moved on--can indeed affect the physical world. If a soul has no mass, volume, or nature to be perceived through the physical, such evidence should not be possible.

The soul is at home to a more general reality. after all its made of energy which can not be done on the physical plain.

but that energy can influence us in a physical sense, it can alter parts of this reality so wouldn't it exist in all realities just intangibly?
