The jungle almost looked inviting, but at the same time, it looked so... Forbidding. There were so many secrets one could find in a place so dark, while there were so many dangers hiding in the undergrowth. Poisonous snakes and spiders, as well as plants to grab at one's fur...
Shetani stared into it, hesitating. It had been a while since Yu had gone missing. She was worried about her son. She hadn't yet even found Sairin so that father and son could meet, now she'd lost her son, too. She swallowed, glancing back at the savannah, then into the jungle. There WAS the chance that Yu was there... She had to look. Taking a deep breath, she went plunging in, leaving the twilit plains behind her.

There were certainly dangers in the jungle, especially this one so full of darkness. Stepping with the carefulness born to one who lived here, Toshiro stalked the borders. He didn't just hunt down food... No, he hunted intruders and new members. There were also toys...
The piebald paused, tail curling and eyes narrowing. He smelled an intruder... It made his fur dance and a grin spread to his mouth. He knew that scent, remembered it... And it was mingled with one he'd grown to detest. Pace picking up, he went to find the lioness.

As a snake darted past, hissing in aggitation, Shetani began to question the wisdom in even coming in here. She swallowed, stepping carefully over a root. A glance around, and the shadows seemed to be monsters, come to get her. The moonlight, she hadn't realized, had that effect. As a small branch behind her snapped, she let out a shriek. This wasn't a good idea! Heart hammering in her chest, she took off, only heading deeper into the trees.

Toshiro glared at the branch, lifting his paw. His head snapped up, though, at the shriek, making him take off after. He would catch the lioness, and she'd be a permanent stay in the jungle. He'd make sure of that much.. Sairin would never see her again. Leaping over a log, he turned around and roared.

When had the other lion leapt out in front of her? Where had he even COME from? Letting out another scream, Shetani slid to a halt. Paws scrambling, she turned and started to run in another direction. She had to get away, she had to get out of here! But the dense jungle growth had her confused and lost, unable to find her way.

This was getting tiring already. Letting out a snarl, the piebald lion hurried after. Knowing his way around the jungle more, he soon herded her into a small clearing, circled by trees so thick one couldn't get through by one path. And he stood in the way, sides heaving as green eyes glared. "You... Are a very tricky one... To catch..."

Ears falling back, Shetani huddled. What did he want from her? She just wanted out of there, away from this all. Fur bristling, she tried to make herself look bigger. "D-don't come near me! Or I'll... I'll..."

"You'll what?" He grinned, stepping closer. "You're nothing. You haven't got any strength to your name." Practically prancing over, Toshiro gave her his most dangerous grin. "And you don't have Sairin around to protect you." He leaned in close, touching noses. "Welcome to the Mwana-a'lela lands, Shetani... You're surrounded by vampires now..."

Eyes widening, she tried to get away. She didn't get far, though, as the male slammed into her. Tumbling, the lioness crashed into some bushes. As the wind was knocked out of her, she tried to get up. She had to get away, she had to... She had to... She looked up, finding Toshiro looming over her. Even with his face cast in shadow, it seemed his green eyes were glowing.

Letting out a coo, Toshiro lifted Shetani's chin with a paw. "Come now, my dear... Don't be afraid... This won't hurt a bit, I promise..." He grinned, prominent canines glimmering in the moonlight, before he leaned in. When he stepped back, he licked his lips. At the fearful look, he smiled almost sweetly. "Don't worry, you won't die... Here..." He offered a paw, his much darker one. He would never offer his white paw to any but his queen.

Weakened more than she usual was, Shetani saw no other choice. She didn't want to die... Not now. Not before she'd found Yu. Whimpering, she took the offered paw, doing as the male had done. She felt strength return, and when she pulled away, she could hear the sounds of the jungle around her. Somehow, they seemed sharper... Slowly she rose, looking at Toshiro warily. "What did you just... Do.. To me...?"

Smirking, he turned and started to walk. "You're a creature of the night now... The sun will kill you. Come, you should meet our queen... I'm sure she'll be most delighted that there's new blood in the pride..." He chuckled, then started to walk. The silver hair at the end of his tail waved, beconing the lioness to follow.

Swallowing, Shetani looked back in the general direction of the jungle edge. She'd been given no choice... Shivering, she started to follow, pausing to examine a bush. It was so clear now... There were perks, but disadvantages, as well. At the sharp roar from Toshiro, she hurried after. This was the first night of... Who knew how long.
