It had been for the best, really. No matter how the red-haired Gaian insisted they had more than enough room to house her, the way the members of the household interacted was borderline smothering to the lanky, criminal teenager. Malas finds it strange, how her Aunt Huni seemed so reluctant in letting her move out.
She had only been living with them a few months at most but the way Huni carried on you'd think she was raised there. Was it weakness on the Gaian's part or could it be Malas was an ungrateful b***h for not properly appreciating the concern?
A weight seemed to bear down on Malas' head, neck inclining forward to rest her forehead against her palm. Her hair cascades over her shoulders and absently Malas decides the burden is not guilt but that her hair has become overgrown and unruly.
And so she exits the Unit HQ in search of an affordable haircut.

Sev was feeling more unlike herself than ever, having grown taller and lankier almost overnight. Though she rather liked some of the changes that were quite becoming on her -- the growing length of her hair and the hue changes in her wings for example -- there were some things that she wasn't so sure of.
The short stub of a tail that had started to grow in was the most unsettling new feature, reminding her of a past life that she no longer lived, or had any desire to live. She knew little of her past self, only reminded of it when Ogalax came out for a visit. She was able to control him more at this point, and he only seemed to manifest when she got upset or was under emotional strain of some kind. She was glad for this control -- he was not exactly the most pleasant personality, and not even she got along with him.
Kappa was hardly what could be considered a father anymore, letting Sev roam around on her own since she was a preteen. He simply provided food and a place to sleep, but was too focused on his own life to worry about Sev. He spent his days working in his newly opened record store, and though Sev sometimes went with him, more often than not, she spent her days roaming around and learning about Gaia.
This day, she was sitting on a bench in front of a hair salon, poking through her shoulder bag and slipping bracelets on her arms as she dug them out of the bottom of the bag.

Absently, Malas lets her feet decide her route, inevitably ending up near the candy stores she had frequented when she was younger. The sweet tooth was still present but Malas' stay at Huni's provided her with all the sugary treats she ever wanted even before she realized she wanted them.
She had been spoiled, during her brief stay, and while it felt nice at the time, 'Las decided she had become too dependent. It was another reason she had to leave before she ends up too accustomed to being cared for. Not that the people in the Unit HQ were cruel and uncaring, but there was a sense of independence (Lissel not withstanding) that was expected of her.
Pausing in front of the window display, 'Las forces herself to look elsewhere and spies in the reflection the sign of a salon. But her silvery-blue eyes widen not at the other store but at a familiar figure. Wings and jelly-locks, larger than she remembered but they were still the same.
Turning, 'Las cants her head to make sure if it was really Sev sitting in front of the hair salon. It must be, but to make certain, the emerald-haired teen carefully crossed the street, unmindful if she was jaywalking or not. Quietly she approached, "Sev?"

Sev looked up at the sound of someone with a familiar voice calling her name. It seemed more of a question than anything, but it was one of those questions that seemed to come from someone who thought they knew who she was.
Breaking into an instant grin, Sev stood up, forgetting the bag that had been resting on her knees. As it fell to the ground, Sev didn't notice. She was too pleased to see one of the few people she considered a friend. "Las!" she exclaimed, eyes bright and as cheerful as ever. She didn't hesitate to wrap her arms around the green-haired alien in a tight hug, her dreadlocks also including themselves in the embrace.
She pulled away, wings fluttering in excitement as she took in the site of the alien who was now much more mature looking than the last time they'd seen one another. "How are you? It's been so long! You look... big," she giggled.

Malas' instinctive reaction to the hug was to stiffen. Despite her long stay on Gaia, despite temporarily lodging with Huni's family, the violet-skinned teen was still uneasy and unaccustomed to such displays of affection. Still, this was Sev, perhaps the only individual she was willing to make an exception for. Her arms remained at her sides, the rigidity of her body betraying the careful blank mask on her face.
Relief came quickly when the winged alien pulled away, the distance allowing 'Las to pull the corners of her lips into a small smile.
"I have aged and I have been... fine." She sounds uncertain of the nature of her condition but segues blatantly to a different topic. "You have aged better than I." it was a compliment.
Malas wondered what the other teen was doing in front of the salon, whether she was intending to have her jelly-locks trimmed or styled and whether such a thing was possible on Gaia. Or was this entire encounter a mere coincidence?
