Are there any of you out there on gaia. I feel kinda lonely cause i try to talk to people about Sor, Tarrega, Carcassi, and Aguado, but nobody seems to know what i'm talking about.
If you consider yourself a classical guitar enthusiast, post your favorite Classical guitar player along with your favorite piece (or pieces) to play.
My favorite Classical guitar player would be Andres Segovia, and my top ten favorite pieces to play would be: 1. Rondo in A minor - Aguado 2. Lute suite BWV 997 (Double) - J.S. Bach 3. Lute suite BWV 997 (Prelude) - J.S. Bach 4. Le Fandango - Aguado 5. Rumores De La Caleta - Isaac Albeniz 6. La Catedral - Agustin Barrios Mongre 7. Caprice no. 24 - Paganini 8. Grand Sonata - Paganini 9. BWV 999 - J.S. Bach 10. Lute Suite BWV 997 (Gigue) - J.S. Bach

I wouldn't call myself a classical guitar player, but (and I know this is gonna sound lame) i'd like to learn. A neo-classical shredder would be amazing.
any good pieces to study or good players to listen to? Juuts things to get me started with?

While I don't dislike classical guitar, it's not my favorite. I prefer classical flamenco style guitar over the eastern guitar players. Classical just sort of... bores me. It's not really active or "Dominant" enough for my taste. (Just my .02)

Neo-classical actually does interest me as well (kinda like Ygnwie Malmsteen) only thing about classical pieces is to actually play a real classical piece you must do the Melody and Harmony which most likely requires fingerpicking in a very advanced stage which to begin i haven't even picked up fingerpicking yet.

Yeah... some are really hard. I tried to learn Bouree in E Minor awhile ago by J.S. Bach (if i'm not mistaken) and I falied... but I want a classical guitar, since I should be able to do it now... it has been over a year. Fingerpicking i'm alright at... it's just getting the weird chord shapes is what i'm not used to, or doing different progressions, and making sure to pick only certain strings over others (the 4th and 3rd are the hardest for me)

That's really the only way to get better at it. You have to try and play different progressions also, and learn to use your pinky as soon as you can. I'm probably the best guitarist in my school as long as picks are barred from use. (Well, there is one kid, but he's been playing Flamenco since he was like five)

My pinky is one of my strongerst fingers now ;] I got that baby down. I wouldn't shy away from saying i'm one of the best. But not the best of my school.

(Just my .02) Maybe you just haven't heard the right stuff that would maybe fit your taste...there is alot of "dominant" pieces out there that i'm sure would satisfy your taste 3nodding

It was a cheap 100 dollar guitar but still its nothing close to acoustic...i mean unlike acoustic its very limited to certain tones. If i were you i'd get an acoustic and fingerpick on that...i mean the strings on classical are considerably lighter but the tone in my opinion doesn't match acoustic. I'd suggest getting a nice classical if your going for it cause cheap one ares pretty bad...last i checked.

depends on what you mean by classical. Classical as in finger-picking, or classical as in the music genre? well i go appregio often just because i can never find a pick although the song isn't classical, it still involves fingerpicking but my favorite song to play would be "I Will Follow You Into the Dark" by deathcabforcutie

Chromatic-Death And yet...the question of my original post still stands... Since you like classical and your pro says you like heavy metal you should try the piece Summer by Vivaldi...little Alexi Laiho did http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZspGWM-aWs
