"I'm proud of you, Magnus. You actually want to take the time to get to know someone instead of flirting relentlessly or temporarily destroying their sanity." Texas grinned. "It's nice to see that you're finally growing up." Well, the demonic hoped he was, anyway. Knowing Magnus...
Instead of responding to the idea of 'growing up,' Magnus set the picnic basket in the middle of the blanket at exactly 4:45 in the afternoon and grinned in accomplishment. "Well, thanks for helping me set up." It was more like Texas had set up the blanket, the little candle, the plates and the utensils, and Magnus had placed the basket down, but nevertheless.
Texas ruffled Magnus's hair. "I'm proud of you. Alright, like you asked, I'm going to stay in the tiki bar in case you need me." He happily skipped off to a different area of the beach to find the tiki bar, but not without looking over his shoulder. When Texas finally stopped looking over his shoulder, Magnus stopped standing up so stiff and let out a sigh of relief.
Finally, his brother left him alone! Maturity? Bah! Flirting relentlessly? Sounded fun. Destroying people's staunchiness sounded fun too. Taking the time to get to know someone... Well, perhaps in this case, Texas was right about that. Magnus was curious. He was rarely curious, but when he was, he absolutely had to have some answers or he would throw a typical hissy fit. Everything was on a need to know basis with Magnus...
...And that seemed to include the mixed demon Kaelia. He had never heard of a mixed demon and had certainly never seen one until he saw her picture. The idea of a mixed demon intrigued him. A demon with a halo! And therefore, he needed to know more about her. What made a mixed demon tick? How did they behave? Did the two parts of her end up completely neutralizing each other? Did they mesh to create something new?
It was almost like Kaelia was some kind of science experiment.

Kaelia found herself walking from her home above the bar to the beach. This was new to her. She had gotten some tips from her sister, but she still felt nervious. "Alright, Hibiscus, you told me to." She told her Mellon as she saw someone on the beach.
The mixed demon found her way over to where Magnus Vis had set up. She put on her best smile and waved to him. "Hello, I mean, Aloha Magnus Vis, right?" Her family had been teacher her to say 'Aloha' instead of 'Hello' like them.

Magnus settled on the blanket that Texas had earlier set down just as Kaelia came into sight. Well, that was no good. Though Magnus would have usually just stayed sitting, he figured he needed to continue to act charming to get anywhere. So, when she asked if he was indeed Magnus Vis, he nodded and stood. "Aye," he picked that up from listening to Criofan talk, "I'm Magnus Vis. You must be Kaelia, then." With a grin, he formally bowed to her.
"I must say, you look even more stunning in person." The picture really didn't do the wonder of the mixed demon justice. Magnus glanced down briefly before looking back to her eyes. The charming smile on his face seemed to show hints of a more devious nature, but he seemed very formal and polite at the moment. "It's a pleasure to meet you in person. Would you like to sit?"

Kaelia blushed slightly at the compliment. "Thanks. Sure." She sat down and smiled again at Magnus Vis. "Oh, this is my Mellon Hibiscus." She pointed at the Mellon floating around her head. The little guy was upset she hadn't said anything about him yet. "Sorry." She told him and then looked back to Magnus Vis. "Sorry about him. He had been my only company for so long he gets a little envious."

She was close to her mellon? Interesting. Sure, most Pae'ils were at least somewhat close to their mellons, but this one seemed to hold a special significance. Was it just because Kaelia was Kaelia, or did it have to do with her special state? "Ah, a pleasure to meet you too, Hibiscus. Kaelia must be lucky to have a mellon such as you." He bowed his head formally and offered yet another charming grin.
If anything, the mellon near Magnus just seemed a bit annoyed. He didn't try to make Magnus mention him, though. The mellon seemed just fine being quiet and observing, and Magnus would let him do that. "Well," he took a match out of a box and lit the candle with it, "I hope you didn't eat before you came. I brought some food with me, and I was hoping we could eat it together while we talked."

Hibiscus whispered more into Kealia's ear, but she didn't repeat what he said. She just nodded to him. "Oh, no I didn't eat. My sister said that we would eat." She had gotten a little info from her sister before heading over. He sister being mated, with a son and twin grandkids must know something. More then their dad. Their mom poofing on them and all.
"What kind of food did you bring? I like to try new things." In the cave she just ate furit and now with her dad she ate the Bar food. Which was good, but she was always looking to try new things.

Magnus blew on the match to put the flame out before lifting his eyes to look at Kaelia once again. Well, she was pretty, at least. The fae of intoxication had certainly been right on predicting that one. "Ah, I brought a great variety, and nothing that needed to be heated. I brought various sandwiches," he took out a sandwich, "some fruits like apples, some vegetables, various finger foods..."
Admittedly, Magnus had packed quite a selection. While it probably wasn't all that different from what Kaelia had already known, he tried his best to make sure he had the juiciest fruits, the crispiest vegetables, and the best meats that he could find so it would still taste good. Even if she was, to some extent, a science experiment to him, he was still aiming to impress and it certainly showed.

Kaelia smiled. There sure was a lot of food. "Wow there's a lot to choose from. Thanks. I like sandwiches. You really can't go wrong with them can you?" She nodded. Kaelia felt like maybe she should have brought something too. Her dad had plenty laying around the Bar.

While the fae of intoxication loved being given things, he wasn't expecting them. Texas commented that the one being invited out, from what he knew, usually didn't bring gifts themselves. When she commented on sandwiches, he chuckled. "This is true. It is hard to make a sandwich that would taste bad with just certain vegetables, certain meats, maybe some cheese and bread." He winked. "Though I am quite sure some people have managed it before."
Now to get to know about the mixed demon in front of him. Knowing that she liked sandwiches certainly didn't give any hints about her race. "I am only curious; how did you end up as a demon with a halo if you don't mind me asking? I thought those born from a demon and angel were shetani." Magnus offered a charming chuckle. "Of course, if this is too personal, feel free to say so."

Kaelia took one of the sandwiches and took a bite. She wasn't sure what the rule was about waiting to eat or anything. She just thought she try one.
"Oh, well my mom was an elder angel my dad a demon. My sister and I were the first to come out mixed. Those before us with mixed parents were normal, just an angel or demon. I'm not sure why I have a halo and my sister is an angle with a demon tail." She looked up at her halo for a moment.

Now that was interesting. She had a sister with a similar condition? Perhaps, because they were twins, one ended up with more demonic parts and the other ended up with more angelic parts. While he wasn't totally sure how the genetics of that would work, it was certainly an interesting thing for the fae to ponder. "That is very interesting. It sounds like the Pae'il started without any mixed breeds, then mixed breeds, and then there were shetani..." Magnus pursed his lips.
This, however, was best saved for another time. He picked up his own sandwich, taking a bite out of it. If he even cared that she had started eating, it certainly didn't show. "I hope you are enjoying the sandwich. I will admit to not being a great cook, and that was one of the best things I could put together." Well, Texas had done most of the work, but Magnus wouldn't give him any credit.

"I have a brother too...I never met him and I don't really rememeber him either, but I think he was pure demon." It was hard to remember that far back. It was before being lost and in the cave, so it was very hard for her to remember.
"Yes, it's very good. You made a good sandwich." Kaelia smiled and took another bite.

She had a brother too? Really? Well, that changed his theory. ...Or perhaps it didn't, because if her brother was not her twin, there would be no way to split the angelic and demonic parts. That didn't make sense either, though! If his theory was right, then her brother would have to be some combination of both... Oh forget it. His theory was obviously wrong. "I am glad you are enjoying the sandwich."
Magnus set down his own sandwich and instead swiped a bag of grapes. Instead of asking first if she wanted any, the fae of intoxication set right to eating them. It was fairly obvious that grapes were his favorite food just by the overjoyed look he got on his face after eating one. Admittedly, he looked rather silly. "So, what do you like to do?" He wasn't going to give her the chance to comment on how silly he looked, though.

Kaelia thought about that for a moment. She wasn't really sure. She knew her family liked surfing and beachy things, but she wasn't really around them to get that. She did like the beach and being around her family. "I like to use my power." This was all she could think of. She could make flowers and other things glow. Just like the flowers in the cave she lived in. Besides her Mellon they were her only company. "What about you?"

Her power? Now this was getting interesting. What was her power, and why did she like using it so much? Was it a bit of a dangerous power? Was it evil? Was it helpful? Was it pretty? Was it specially given by the Guardians to her because of her race? These were all very important questions Magnus had about his science experiment. Before he could ask, though, she did the dreaded thing and asked a question about his hobbies.
"I enjoy dancing and relaxing near places like the beach, or being near good friends." That wasn't exactly a lie; Magnus was just leaving out a few essential truths about what he did enjoy: that was, parties, rowdiness, and other such nonsense. He wasn't going to tell Kaelia that, though. "I love enjoying myself."
