With confident but unhurried breaststrokes, Ootoro swam upstream the river. Dodging driftwood and boulders, the adroit Palui navigated the waters as beautifully as Magellan and Christopher Columbus sans the hangover. On the subject of breast strokes, he spied a suspicious pair of mounds in the overcast skies. He could get used to cloud gazing if luscious body parts were always on the menu.
Near the bank he grabbed a few pebbles and placed them on chest like an otter does with clams. Arching a little, Ootoro raised his head to chuck the smooth object. Ripples caused from stone skipping relaxed him. Nothing but a clear day ahead of him

Majani was extremely lazy that day, but she was sure it was not entirely her fault. It was hot and the air was heavy that day. Weather could be weird these days on Palu Island. Staying at hellhole her house on that particular day was not a brilliant choice, her owner even left the house to hang around at the beach with friends, so she strolled and ended at the bank of this river now.
She dipped her tail to cool her body down while laying on her stomach in a very lazy pose and hardly a lady like manner. Might as well get a fish for dinner. That will fix my diet , she thought. Not actually trying to catch a fish, she let her mind wander on how luscious the raw fish flesh could be, unaware of her surrounding. Aaah~ a real delicacy...
((sorry fluo if it sounds weird, I never RP before *goes back to sleep* it's 2:30 am))

((I hope you're sleeping now and not Code Gayassing. And I hope I read this scene correctly))
Laziness seemed to rule the day for Ootoro. As slow as molasses the delicious looking palui floated closer to the bank when he spied something shiny.
I'm like a damn ornery raccoon Ootoro thought.
Ootoro heard other Palui saying something along the fact that fat floats but he was not floating. Nor was he dogpaddling. He was a champion swimmer. In fact, perhaps his fish like appearances were good for something afterall.
Catching up to the shiny object he gave it a little tug before noticing it was attached to string. And the string was attached to...

((yes, I was sleeping and I had a weird dream))
Majani still wondered whether she would have her fish raw or with extra berries when she felt a weird tugging feeling. Obviously she forgot why in the first place she started fishdreaming , that was why she ignored this pesky and unimportant distraction and continued her previous activity.
Unfortunately the stubborn and persistent tugging did not stop! It even became more demanding of her attention. Finally, realization hit her when one strong tug of her tail woke her from her daydream. "FISH!" she squeked in delight and pulled her tail back, she was hoping her daydream will come true now.

Oh man. Ootoro was in all sorts of trouble. He grabbed not only the shiny thing attached to string but also a tail.
"POACHER" he roared magnificently as he splashed. Poachers were a huge problem on the island. This one would not get away. With a mighty thrust of his delicious a** muscles, he tugged both the shiny object tail into the water.
A big splash later he realized his mistake. o3o

This fish must be really big! , she thought, her furry ears standing up in anticipation. But wait -- did she hear someone yelled at her? She was not a poacher!
The female lion palui couldn't continue her train of thought when the other side overpowered her. This caused Majani to lost her balance on one of the slippery rocks on the riverbank. The young palui had no time to take sufficient amount of air into her lungs nor she braced herself for the sudden impact with the water below when she fell not so graciously...tail first...
Oh man, even water palui can't breath under water and I'm not a water palui !, she thought. When the need for air became more important matter, she was urged to reach the water surface as fast as she could.
She flailed her limbs in whatever style that came naturally into her now panicked mind.

Cue dramatic music and epic fail sign being held by a clown running across the stage. Ootoro thought about breaking the fourth wall, and addressing the audience directly. He made a boo boo--one too big to be fixed by neosporin, a kiss on the wound and a bandaid.
The "poacher" was in fact another palui. And it was flailing badly. No mane was in sight, this Palui looked like a drowned rat. She was drowning. Oh noes. Spurred by chivalry, but really out of liability reasons, Ootoro grabbed onto the other palui's paw and hoisted them both to cling on a nearby slab of rock.

She was busy flailing her paws. Yes, she insisted that she was just busy and could do very well on saving her own butts.
That's when someone (or something?) pulled her paw. Her eyes still blurred by the water and she couldn't make out who (or what) is this strange creature. Too exhausted to struggle, she let herself being pulled and hoisted onto one of the rocks.
Oh great, I'm wet now, she thought, but too lazy to open her eyes. I'll just nap a little. Her act might sound absurd but she was tired because of her previous mindless and useless flailing.

Ootoro splashed some water onto his own eyes. Was this really happening? This poacher turned woe-be-gone female palui fell asleep as soon as they hit the rock. Or maybe she had drowned and he had to do some CPRing.
Pushing the other palui onto its back, Ootoro pulled up his imaginary sleeves to get working.
He hoped no other palui were around. They might get the wrong idea and think he was doing bad things to a dead Palui. Or worse, that he killed the Palui. He had to revive her quickly, and he rushed the procedures.
Opening her mouth he bent down to breathe in air.

Eyes tightly closed from seeing her surrounding, Majani breath slowly, taking her time to steady her breathing and rest her body after the 'little accident'. Body limp against the rock, she looked almost like dead Palui.
Though it was getting cold now, especially when a particular cold wind blew past her. Or was it someone looming above her?
That was when she feel something forced her mouth open.
exclaim
Majani woke up instantly and pushed the other side away with all the might her recovering body had.

Fi, a Lark! The palui was alive. Little bugger had Ootoro fooled. Nothing had gone awry, and now Ootoro was in an awkward position. What to do?
He was alarmingly in close proximity to the other Palui. He almost.. mouth. eek.

This situation is very very awkward. How and when this other palui came and situated itself above her? And a little beyond her personal space.
She blinked her eyes once, twice and then she started to wriggle out from under the other palui.

Ootoro blinked. And he blinked. The other palui was alive. He sincerely wished he could have conveniently fainted.
Hell, even be afflicted with Spontaneous Human Combustion, but alas, he was not a fire palui.
Giving one final long blink he broke the silence.
"Greetings, I'm Ootoro. How are you?"

Once she straightened herself, she heard the other greeted her. She looked up and that was when she noticed that this palui is a bit different than the other.
She blinked some more. And then she remembered to reply, since it's not polite to ignore the other greetings and stare.
"Hi, I'm Majani. You're not my fish, aren't you?"
Insert more silence cue here.
That came a little bit rude, she realized.
"Urm, sorry about that... what were you doing in the water? I don't know any normal palui that swims."

Ootoro was doing mental flips. Him, a fish? He might as well be a cartoon hero.
"Majani, what does that name mean? I'm not a fish, but my name does mean fish, sort of. I like to swim. You obviously don't know how to" he scoffed.
Things were getting awkward. He wanted a knife or cattail to cut the tension with.
He swished his nails back and forth emphatically, splashing the other palui with water by mistake.
