It was one of those days. The kind that was lovely, calm, and generally relaxing where a person could be sitting minding his or her own business and BOOM! Some young, misguided elephant just comes crashing through on that peaceful reverie! Not a bit of elegance or consideration do those young elepha---
---Wait, that was just a might big lion crashing through the brush. His lack-of-quiet-skill was currently being reprimanded by the vines he'd been going through. His right leg was caught in them.
Grumbly-growl face and yank, yank, YANK!!! Ugh-face and about turn! This was going to require the help of teeth. Gnaw on offending vines! Grrr....

Kida wasn't one of those who'd be bothered by such a sudden, unpredictable broken peace and quiet. She enjoyed the sound of life much more than the almost oppressive quietness of the jungle. As a child of a decaying people, the silence was hard to bear, bringing remnants of her now deserted home. No, instead, it drove her closer towards the shifting and ruffling of the leaves. Still, what met the clothed lioness wasn't quite what she was expecting, hiding out of sight under a bush and stalking the orange mass that fought furiously with the tangled vines. She was strange in her own right, granted, but... was that even a lion?

With a final YANK of teeth and leg both, the turtle-backed lion half-fell over as the vines gave away.
He snorted at his obstacle, and even chortled a bit. "I have always admired the pure tenacity and brute mentality of plantlife." He informed it, "The REAL sort, not the fungus of the Mushroomite Kingdom. You vi---"
He stopped midword to turn his head around, standing all bristled, "Are you Mushroomite or Koopling?" He demanded with a snarl, then shook his head with frustration, "I mean to say, are you enemy or not?"
It was odd to him, but it seemed that none in this strange place understood the terms so obvious to him.

Kida blinked as he released himself AND talked to the vine. Was he alright? Maybe he hit his head in the middle of it... Ignoring his questions, she moved over to him, examining him for wounds or things of the sort. "Are you hurt?" she asked, pawing at his shell. It was like a turtle's! How fascinating!

The shock of Kida's answer and Bowser's uncertainty as to how to respond to her was how she got around to examine his fur-scruffed up but undamaged leg that had been caught, and to dare paw at his shell.
He did know how to react to that last bit though. He jumped up as a big turtle-backed lion could---an ungraceful jerk and straightening so that he now stood glaring at her, "Do you mean to harm me?" He bellowed. How dare she, this little thing? Why, no one had...well, no one should have...well, no girl had ever even challenged him, and now she was casually poking like he'd just fall over like one of the lesser kooplings?

She was surprised by him jumping away, but not the least bit frightened by his stance and actions. She'd grown even more curious about this lion creature. So many things she didn't know about this world, so much knowledge, and Kida wanted it all. And had the courage to stick up for it, perhaps more than she sometimes should... "So you were not harmed? That is good." The atlantean hadn't tried the using the crystal's powers since her change and arrival to this land. It still had a sparkle of the Heart, but maybe it could have been not enough should the creature have gotten hurt. "Is that shell natural on you?"
