 Nev trotted up the stairs to his apartment and then moved to the door and unlocked it. It felt...strange and yet so familiar...to have her back in his head. Despite the odd feel he knew he'd never been so happy in the last few years as when she'd offered him her card. She was back and that was what was important. They'd lied to him, not that it was surprising...they'd lied to everyone in the program, but for him it had been worse...they'd done it to keep him contained...to keep him unable to function.
Nev shook his head glad he still remembered how to keep his thoughts contained. He wasn't ready to discuss the years without her yet. He went to his apartment door and unlocked and opened the door. "Well...here it is..." he said hesitantly having forgot the mess. The coffee table was strewn with books, notes, his laptop, several calculators and pens and pencils. "oops...." he muttered. "I...uh...don't entertain much..." he mumbled as a lame excuse.
"Well...feel free to make yourself at home...I'm going to go change clothes..I don't usually bum around my apartment in my armor...is that alright?" he asked.

She shuddered lightly and forced her mind away from them, curling up in her spot within Neve's helmet, peering at the kitchen - spotless, of course - and the mini-disaster zones that were the dining room and livingroom.
Slowly, cautiously, she slipped from her AI card, unwilling as she was, eyes pointed downwards out of nerves. She knew he knew how she felt. She'd been inside when he'd asked, and would have felt her anxiety grow. However, she nodded, shuffling her feet once again while biting her bottom lip to keep from chasing after him to cling and tell him not to leave.
Instead, she brought the instructions for taking her armour off and silently went through with it, nervously twitching and feeling even more exposed. With a deep breath, she stepped quickly to the coffee table and set herself about doing something while Neve changed, keeping her paws and mind busy in hopes she wouldn't be too nervous. It didn't work all that well. Her paws shook as she carefully collected and separated the papers, closing them neatly within the books before stacking them and diving at the next task.

Nev watched as she slipped from his helmet. That still amazed him...that the others could do that...and now she could too. He remembered the feel of her soft fur, the silky texture of her hair...He coughed and fidgeted. "Be right back." he said hastily and went to his room and flipped off his helmet once he had the door closed. He then looked around his room in dismay. "Damn it..." it was as big a mess as the living room.
He quickly popped off his armor and found a clean red and yellow pull over and a pair of tan slacks. He dressed quickly and then tossed all his dirty laundry into a corner. He then went to his bedside table and opened the drawer. He picked up the two magazines and shoved them in the drawer. He'd just die if Ellie found those...and then swept the pill bottles in as well. He then went into his bathroom and grabbed the trash can and picked up the blood dotted tissues from his bad coughing fits or when he accidentally bit the inside of his mouth in his sleep. He woken up more than once choking on his own blood. He tossed that thought away and then quickly made the bed.
Once he had finished he hurried back into the living room and looked around...it was much much neater..."Oh, baby doll...you didn't have to do that..." he said moving towards her. It was then it struck him that something was different. "You took your armor off..." he said. "You look very nice..." he said staring at her unable to help himself.

Ellie found herself to be a tiny, cleaning whirlwind...though maybe that was because if she didn't put her nervous energy to use, she'd wind up sobbing upon the couch for Neve to come back. Her ears flickered as she heard movement from the back, green eyes anxiously darting to the side until she saw it was indeed Neve.
"N-No, Neve... I did have to do th-that..." She murmured, looking at him with a very small frown before she blushed and looked down at her paws, squeaking. "I-I-I f-feel...ho-orribly exp-o-osed..."
She sank into a half-sitting, half-laying position and fiddled with her chopstick nervously, ears swept back and occasionally twitching. Not that she really minded his gaze, but at least her armour served as some sort of 'cover', even if it didn't cover her body as most Spartans' did.
"C-C-Can I--L-Lee--" Ellie paused, whimpering softly before squeezing her eyes shut. "C-C-Ca-an I b-b-borrow...somet-omething of y-yours?"

Nev mentally smacked himself and adverted his eyes. "I'm sorry...uh...yeah...I'll get you something...Hang on..." he walked back towards his room stopping to glance back at her one more time before finally going and getting her a sweater he'd gotten while he'd still be in school.
He walked back out to her and offered it blushing. "Here...it'll be...really big...but it'll do the job...Its from the university I went to..." he said rambling to keep from blushing anymore and staring at Ellie. He cleared his throat and offered her the sweater again looking embarrassed. Note to self: contact your man uptown...and get Ellie some clothes... he thought to himself.

Ellie flicked her tail around herself , valiantly resisting the urge to chase after him again. With a whimper, she crept over to the couch and jumped onto it, curling up somewhat until he came out and handed her a sweater. With a grateful glance, she sat up quickly and pushed herself into it, having a bit of a hard time because she practically swam in it, but finally getting all limbs in their right places, peeking out from the proper place.
"Th-thank you, Lee..." She murmured, tugging and adjusting things here and there until she didn't feel dwarfed by it anymore. She sighed and snuggled into it, happy that when she sniffed, there was a faint trace of Neve there to comfort her. Shuffling her paws, she twitched somewhat nervously before taking a slow breath to try and sooth herself.

Nev watched her and resisted the urge to help her. He'd always known she was beautiful...always know that...and had suspected the moment she'd been gone that he'd loved her...although he was pretty sure he'd always loved or felt affection for her. He looked at the coffee table and picked at the papers there.
"So..." he said unsure what to say. "umm...that guy...Bastian fixed you?" he asked. He then smacked himself again. What a great conversation topic you idiot...make her think you're insecure and get jealous because she might like someone...she's not yours...well she's your partner, but she's not yours in that sense. Nev fidgeted and ran a hand through his messy sandy brown hair before looking back into those perfect green eyes. "So...uh...." he trailed off getting lost in those pools of green.

The hood flopped into her face and Ellie squeaked, shoving at it until it fell down her back....which wasn't too comfortable either, as it pulled the hoodie itself uncomfortably against her neck. With a half-whimper and one eye closed, she tugged the hood up to rest it on her head...and of course, it fell over her face once again.
Holding it up with a pout, she flicked her ears at Neve's question. "...yes...I... I think h-he...was the only one that c-could..."
She noted his nervousness, and in turn it made her agitated as well, though she had no clue why he had cause to be nervous in his own place. Ellie, however...well, she was nervous almost all the time, anyway. And the hood, while a fair distraction, only frustrated her more. It just wouldn't stay. She whined softly, tugging at it some more, ears flicking as his voice drifted to her ears again, causing her eyes to flick to his familiar blue orbs.
"Hmm..?" She murmured, before groaning. "Lee...ca-can you help me..?"

Nev nodded absently. "I see..." He gently bounced up and sat down next to her. "Of course, sweetheart." he reached around her and fixed the hood so that it would sit neatly against her back and not bother her anymore.
He slowly pulled his arms back and gently caressed her hair. "Better?" he asked unable to take his eyes off of her. She was just how he remembered her...small, dainty and perfect. "I'm...I'm really glad you're here, Ellie." he said taking her face in his paws and leaning forward and kissing the center of her forehead. "I hope you like it here...with me."

Ellie stilled as Neve gently took over, and finally she breathed a sigh of relief as the hood no longer pulled back the sweater uncomfortably against her neck. She smiled at him, one of those rare, bright smiles, and lightly flicked her tail against him in appreciation.
"Y-Yes, thank you, Lee~" She murmured, eyes immediately widening as he pulled her forwards a bit, his lips pressing against her forehead. She marvelled at the feel of it, eyes growing slightly unfocused before focusing once again on Neve. She smiled, teasing in attempt to hide her nervous jitters. "I-I'm sure I can tolerate it, Lee."
She giggled softly, the sound cut off somewhat quickly before she lay down beside him, peering up at him from beneath her bangs. "I'm glad I'm here too... I...don't know how much longer I could have stood...being inside there."

Nev smiled at her and then stiffened a bit as she mentioned their time apart. He took several deep breaths to calm himself and nodded. "I...I think I know what you mean..." he said trailing off and getting a far away look in his eyes.
He sat there for several seconds before he snapped himself out of it. "Ah, sorry..." he said smiling at her hoping he hadn't upset her with his mental wanderings. "Are you hun-" he stopped himself from finishing the question shaking his head. "You don't need to eat do you? Sorry...that was a silly question I bet." he fidgeted for a few minutes before he reached over unthinkingly and pecked her cheek. "I'm going to make a sandwich okay? Be back in like two seconds...Anything you need...or wanna talk about?"

Ellie blinked up at Neve, flicking her tail around him in attempt to comfort him somewhat. She winced slightly before smiling gently at his question. "It's not a silly question, Lee. You're...n-not used to seeing me...'here', at all..."
Not physically, at least. She shifted over, brushing her paws over his in what she hoped to be a comforting gesture, blinking and rather taken-aback by the peck to her cheek. Ducking her head, she shook it. His presence...was enough, most definitely. There would be time enough to discuss the past later...sometime when they were both feeling more secure.
So she waited, head lightly buried beneath her paws, until she felt she couldn't take it anymore. Only a few moments had passed, truthfully, but she sprang up and off the couch to trot into the kitchen to stay by his side as he made himself his sandwich, tail twitching nervously.

Nev opened the fridge and grabbed out the things he needed. He set them on the counter and absently put the sandwich together. He was a little surprised when he saw Ellie next to him but he smiled at her and flicked his tail around her tiny frame. He finished making the sandwich and took a bite.
He chewed for several seconds thinking and then looked at her. "So...what do you think of my place?" he asked her. "And you can be honest. I know I'm not very good at cleaning up sometimes..." he took another bite and looked down at her putting an arm around her and pulling her close to his side. "You're still the most beautiful thing I've ever seen you know...just in case you needed reminding." he teased her gently trying to get rid of some of the tension that was hovering over them. Of course after he said it regretted it. Ellie had never been very good at accepting compliments about her looks and she'd often stammered at him when he had. "Sorry..." he said trailing off and taking another bite of sandwich to avoid saying anything else stupid.

Still somewhat jittery, but feeling more at-ease now that she was beside Nevada once again, Ellie flicked her own tail around him in response to the warm gesture, stepping as close to him as she could. She closed her eyes and sighed softly, leaning against Neve very carefully before blinking.
"It's...,uch the same as...as it was...before, I guess. Not the layout, per se, but nearly everything else... It's...comforting, in a way. And...I feel...safe here, with you."
She smiled, happily leaning fully against him as his arm drew her in close, a content sigh stopping halfway out of her mouth before she stared down at her paws, fidgeting nervously at hte compliment. Though it pleased her in ways to have Neve compliment her, it always made her nervous. The day they had been introduced, in fact...well, she really couldn't remember a time where she wasn't stammering.
"I-I... L-Lee...thank y-you..?" She murmured, sounding bashful. She didn't move away, but looked up at him shyly and curled in against him, taking comfort in his warmth, using it to help her forget why she was nervous.

Nev nodded. "Old habits die hard I guess...." he said trailing off and then watched the expected response to his compliment. He smiled a bit and shook his head rubbing her side gently with his paw.
"You're welcome, baby doll." He took another bite of his sandwich and swallowed before cramming the rest in his mouth and then turned to clean up the counter. "Here go over to the fridge for a second, please and let me pass you all this stuff. Don't worry about where it goes just put it in, and then we can go back and sit down on the couch." he said gently, knowing that ideally she'd much rather stay as close to him as possible. Not that he minded, but he knew that there would always be things that he at least needed to do alone, no matter how much he wanted her with him and she wanted to be with him.
He sighed quietly and passed her the loaf of bread and the bags with cheese and meat in them. "Here." he said idly caressing her paw as he put them in her paws.
