The sun rose slowly over the world, flooding the planes and tree tops of the woods with a soft warm glow.

Harlequin truged through the woods, her mind and heart heavy. She hadnt seen Oba since their fight. She missed him, she worried about him. She couldnt help it, she loved him. Liku had gone missing again which left her utterly alone. She wanted, no... needed someone to speak to. Someone to spil her woes to before they ate her up inside. Danuwa was her one friend she could trust, her one friend that was always there for her, and thus she searched for him.

Fonn was once more galloping through a field. Little did she know that she was only a short ways away from Quin. She couldn't help but to feel good on this bright morning with the wind causing her mane to flicker around her face and her tail to chime. She paused for a moment to take in her surroundings. She had a feeling she had been there before, but she felt that way about everywhere she went.

Danuwa lay in the grasses where he once would stay in watch over his basket. Fluttering his wings he closed his eyes and tried to remember the shape and color of his foal. It felt like as each day passed it got harder for him to remember. Why did everyone he cared for leave? His parents and his sister were off some where while his past mate and his son had left long before he ever was able to see the foals color and shape. Danuwa had managed to loose his only daughter and the one mare he cared for now was in love with another stallion. Danuwa wouldn't try to bide for her attention though, what ever made her happy was most important. Maybe that was why he always got the short end of the stick. Always worried about what others wanted first, but then again he had always been to proud to beg for something as well.

Danuwa shifted his weight slightly and tucked himself tighter fend off the cold autumn wind. Despite the suns warm glow, it was easy to tell winter was on the way. Danuwa sighed, winter was not a good time for him and every year he wondered if he was going to make it to spring alive. It was also a time he find it more easy to admit he didn't like being alone.

Quin paused as the sound of music filled her ears. It was an odd sound, clear as a bell, but it didn't have the metallic after tone of a bell. She cocked her head to the side curiously before venturing on to the edge of the woods. The light that hit her coat was warming, but she still shuddered when the wind brushed across her coat. She frowned. The grass was was already beginning to brown as fall crept ever closer, though there were a few patches of green. She scanned the field as she ponders where to search next only to find that one of the patches of green she assumed to be grass was her dear friend. A soft smile came to her face as she trotted out to greet Danuwa. When she grew closer she slowed her pace, trying to sneak up on her old friend.

Fonn swished her tail, staring at the sky; it was such a beautiful day in her opinion. A butterfly, yellow and green, floated past her gaze distracting her from her thoughts. With a soft chuckle she followed it, straight towards Danuwa and quin. The only thing between her and Danuwa and quin was a small rise in the field, little more than a small hill.

Danuwa was too deep in his own thoughts. He laid flatter to the ground sniffing the dirt as in hopes to catch some trace of his daughter's old scent. He could, ever so softly he could smell her, but it must only be his memory playing a trick on him.

He snorted at the ground as though it had let him down. Danuwa opened his eyes and he began to nudge through the brown grasses attempting to find some fresh green grass beneath them.

"I hate this time of year..."

Quin paused. This wasn't the Danuwa she normally saw. Normally he was happy, thoughtful, and composed. But here before her he seemed so sad. "Why do you hate it so?" Quin asked Danuwa as she stepped out from behind him, no longer intent on surprising him. She stepped forward and nipped his mane before laying down near him. She wanted to comfort him as he had done so many times for her.

Fonn paused, voices reaching her ears. There were other soquili around? Her eyes opened wide at the thought of playing with actual soquili. It had been so long since she had seen anyone after all. She almost had forgotten the joy it brought her. But what if the soquili were mean? She didn't want to waltz right up to someone that may eat her after all. Quietly she crouched down to the ground and crawled her way awkwardly up the hill. She peeked through the tall brown grass, eying the mare and the male. They didnt seem mean. She'd watch and wait though. 'Never know, one may try to eat the other...' She thought to herself.

Danuwa jumped slightly caught off guard by Harlequin's voice. His ears flicked and his nostrils flared as he confirmed it was indeed Quin. Danuwa suddenly felt far more comfortable then before and without realizing it he leaned on Quin and accepted her comfort.

"Nice to hear a familiar voice, Harlequin.., oh well it's hard for me to admit, but I do not mange the winter well. The snow blurs my sight more and makes things harder to smell. So food is near impossible to find."

Danuwa sighed that wasn't all that was bothering him. Should he tell Quin how he had been feeling about his missing daughter.

"There is more to my current state then the seasons though. Do you remember this place at all?"

Harlequin closed her eyes, trying to remember if she had been here before. She felt as though she had, many times in fact, but she could not place it off the top of her head. It was near her old home, one which she hadn't traveled very far from until recently. She must have come here quite often. But it seemed more important than just a place she use to play at or graze.

With her eyes closed she searched through her memories. She remembered being here with Danuwa not long after she had become an adult. They had been laying just as they were now, but a basket had been laying between them. It had been the day his basket popped to reveal his daughter. She remembered how she described her to him. She had been such a pretty thing with her flaming mane and ice like tale. "Yes," Quin said softly as she realized the cause for Danuwa's morose nature. "I remember..."

How could she had been so selfish? She had seeked him out to pour out her troubles to him, she never though that Danuwa had a troubled mind of his own. She felt his weight upon her as he leaned and in return she leaned into him, nipping his ear and nibbling on his mane as she tried to console him. All she had was relationship problems, he had lost his daughter. What could be worse than that? "I'm sorry..."She whispered, not knowing what else to say in a time like this.

Fonn cocked her head to the side as she watched the two soquili. They seemed familiar, but considering she had only met one person that she could remember recently they could have been anyone. The male seemed more familiar than the female, and as he leaned against the female she caught a small glimpse of his legs through the waving grass.

'Why do they look like mine?' She pondered. Was he some sort of long lost relation? Maybe he was a brother or cousin! The thought of him being her father never crossed her mind, their colors were different shades (though both green) and her tail was ice. She inched her way forward in the grass curious now more than ever, her ice tail clinking together and chiming as she did so.
