Isis wandered the Grand Desert. She watched as Anise, the dire owl that had watched over her briefly as she grew, flew to the cliffs in the canyon. Such beauty in a desolate place, and still Isis couldn't understand why there seemed to be almost no one. For hours she listened for the beating of wings on the wind, or the padding of footsteps. But nothing. Sighing, she could see Anise gliding down to her on a current. What's wrong? the wise owl telepathically asked.
It was weird to talk with Anise, especially because Isis wasn't used to speaking without moving her lips. Oh nothing, promise I'm fine, she then smiled the best she could.

Leer squated behind a rock, watching an owl a couple yards away. the rock obscured the lower half of his vision so he could not see the young painter that was with the owl. Leer peeked from around the rock one more time, noting the owls location before he jumped out to catch it. this one is minewith a loud roar he jumped ontop of the rock and into the air ready to capture his prey.

Isis jumped at the sight of another painter all of a sudden appearing out of nowhere. She stepped back a few feet before falling over. Being clumsy, it embarrased her, as she quickly picked herself up.
Anise flew to dodge the newcomer, and took a seat on the ground by Isis. You won't be lonely much longer, she spoke with amusement.
Isis observed the painter's colors, and thought he looked familiar. The thing that really clicked was the different color of his eyes.

shocked by the other painter leer's wings folded and he fell to the ground. he got to his feet and coughed in embarassment. thinking quickly for an excuse of why he had jumped from the rock.
um, hey, sorry 'bout that i was not expecting to see you there. i just saw that owl of yours and thought the maybe it was lost, so i was going to see if i could help it.
his words came out in a rush, still a little embarassed. he stopped when he notied her bright eyes, a hint of familiarity tugged at his memorie but he ignored it.

"Oh, uh it's fine," Isis assured him, glancing over at Anise for an answer to whom he was. "Forgive me, I've forgotten my manners," she turned her attention back to him and smiled, "I'm Isis, and this Anise," she gestured to the owl now watching the two quietly.

Returning his kindness, though all the while still trying to remember, Isis curled her tail around her claws. "I'm glad to have met you," taking a moment to rack her brain, she then replied, "Well we were just wandering out and about. Trying to find someone or something."
Anise hooted a welcome as she wasn't that fluent with using her beak to speak quite yet.

Leer looked at the owl and then back at isis. he was a little put of by her bright eyes, and how she kept staring at him.

he looked back at the owl jelousy tugging at the edges of his heart, but hed never admit it.

"I'm sorry for staring," Isis apologized as she had seen that he'd noticed. "It's just your eyes are beautiful," she commented, as she desperatley tried to remember where she had seen them before. "Oh well, I hadn't thought about that," Isis admitted as her mind began to wonder. "I guess we could go and find a nice spot to relax," she suggested.
Anise watched the two converse, remembering like it was only yestarday the two were small hatchlings running about.

Leer smiled, a little embarassed. your eyes are quite amazing themselfs. they really light up your face. he looked up at the cliffs, the heat starting to get to him. well, it is a little hot, we could go up in the shady cliffs, or go find some water to jump in. what ever pleases you best.

"Thank you," Isis blushed somewhat, and stretched her wings enough to create some shade. "I think either one is a great idea, but the nearest oasis in just over the canyon if you'd like, or we could go to the cliffs."
Anise took flight to see how far it would take them to get over the canyon. Gliding among a current, she floated for a second to get a good look. Either way they went, it didn't matter.

Leer streched his wings and nodded to isis. well then, lets go to the oasis, ive heard that they ae quite refreshing on days like this. with a few quick flaps of his wins he was in the air. he looked down at isis and in a mocking manner said: "can you keep up?" he turned sharply twords the canyon and let out a puff of smoke.

Isis nodded in agreement, then let her own wings stretched before taking flight. "I can keep up, but how fast can you go?" she teased being picked up on a current, she pulled her wings in a little, allowing the flaps more momentum, as she sped through the air towards the canyon.
Anise had to dodge out of the way of the two. The owl was dumbfounded, as she watched them bullet past her. Finally realising what had happened, she quickened each flap of her own wings to catch up.

Leer chuckled, and sped after isis. he used the same current as isis to help him catch up. when he was close to her he did a couple of quick flaps till he was right above her. "faster than you, thats for sure!" he chuckled again as he slowly began to pass her.

Isis stuck her tongue out teasingly after him, as she gave two quick flaps of her wings. "I don't think so," she mocked catching up slowly. Coming to his side, Isis stopped to fly alongside of him. "So faster than me huh?" she asked with a warm smile.
