October had just felt the cool breeze of the morning push over her coat to wake her up.sleeping at her fathers side she yawned. Looking over at her still sleeping father she giggled. Today was a day to explore, and she was going to explore all she wanted. Getting up she tip toed out of the teepee before talking off to the east. Giggling more as the cool crisp wind brushed over and past her entire body she went faster and faster till she was going as fast as she could.
There was still a chance she could slip and fall over but she didn't worry about that right now, for the moment she felt free and happy. As the woods flew by her the sun finally started to rise. The morning dew shone over the land, and it was not yet cold enough to be morning frost. Still the young fillies giggled molded over her as with every quick step came her favorite sound. The crunching of the dried leaves. Letting out her little calls and making much noise she kept running, until she came out of the woods into the clearing. Not a soul in site and she gleamed. Looking around she slowed down till she was in the middle, lowering her head, and feasting on the years sweet grasses beneath her tiny frame.

 Scarlet waddled up to October with the basket tied to her back. "Oh, my, I found you! I have to ask you a bit of a favor. you see I'm looking to cross the river so I have have food ready for when the baby comes out and I just can't do that with them on my back! Could you please watch the basket for me? I know you two are good friends!"Claude wriggled his his basket and Scarlet slipped himoff and moved over to October, content cooes coming from inside at recognition of his best friend.

Looking up to the strange mare she had never seen before she was a bit confused. Up until she seen the basket. Giggling at the recognition she looked up to the mare and simply said,
" Why Yes Ma'am i could look after it for you!"
She thought that it was kind of funny that her best friend was a basket, but smiled in delight as the coo's came from it. Looking back up to the mare, she stood there, watching her.

"Oh, thank you so much my dear! I shall be sure to bring you back some barried of your own!" And with that the tiny mare was off over the river, giving a quick kiss to the lid of the basket.
Claude cooed at the show of affectiong and wiggled inside the basket. It was getting awfully cramped. He wrenched his legs a little t the left. Still no relief. Oh, if only his mother were still here to tell him it was alright to come out! He huffed and threw himself to the left to try to remedy his situation. All it did was topple the basket over. And out he came, legs free and eyes wide. "What on earth happened?" He squeaked, basket lid covering his face in the most unintellegent way imaginable.

She smiled as she watched the mare leave, looking towards the river. That is until she heard the basket topple over. Quickly looking back she freaked out as she realized the thing inside had come out. Looking towards the river in a frantic state she looked back to the basket, blinking and in realization that it wasn't a bad thing she again looked. It had a body like hers but a lid for a head? Noticing as well that it was winged she grew all the more curiouser. Walking closer as she heard his question she giggled and replied,
" well... you kinda... fell out"

Claude about lost his mind. "Ah! Where's that coming from!?" He looked around. He looked down. His limp wings flopped at his sides and he searched for the ground beneath his hooves. "Where's the ground! Oh my god, where IS the ground! Where's anything! I can't see!" He clumsily got up onto his legs and stumbled around for a bit before he fell forwards, that lib coming off his head. And then he could see. He sighed. "Much better. Oh, my best friend is here! Look!" He puffed out his chest and beamed. Then his face screwed a little and he stated, "I didn't know you were a girl..."

October couldn't help giggling at his clowning around, even if he was terrified, it was still amusing. In her mind there was nothing around that would hurt him and this act of fear was most amusing. Looking over to him and studying his face, she was surprised he knew it was her. Then at his words smiled and giggled as she spoke.
" And so what if I'm a girl *hehehe* i didn't know you where a boy! That doesn't change anything though i hope. I mean, whats the difference any way??"
She was still a young foal and didn't know the purpose of boy and girl yet. Not knowing the difference to her there really was no difference. The only noticeable thing to her was that boys seemed to be a little bigger, and that so far most of the ones she had met where weird in some wings. The last one have a horn and weird hooves, now this one ( her best friend at that) had wings! Looking him over some more she noticed that he was different then the other one. As the other one looked of the sky and without wings. He looked like the Fire but without a horn.

Claude laughed and said, "nothing really, I doesn't matter. I just didn't know!" He hopped up and tried out his new wings. "What are these supposed to do, do you think," he asked as he turned his head to look at them. October was really the first Soquili he'd ever known and so he had no preconceptions except that maybe he was horribly deformed. this struk a new string of fear.
"Where are yours? Did they fall off? Why do I have them? What do they do? Where's my mother when I really need her," he flopped into a sitting position. "I don't even know my own name!" He sniffled and let his head hang.

October giggled at Claudes silly-ness and looked at his wings as he flailed around the place. Being highly amused she giggled some more as he seemed to freak out even more when he noticed she didnt have any. October knew only a little about the winged after meeting her auntie and so could tell him that it wasnt anything bad.
" Dont worry, my auntie has wings and a horn and and a lion tail... Its completely normal to have wings. She tells me theirs a lot of you soquili who are winged. I wish i was as special as you"
She beemed as she gave him a compliment and giggled as she thought about his name. October really wasn't sure what his name was. Looking him over she giggled as her little mind made up a nick name for him until he got his name.
" Well then, for now im'a call you feathers!"

Claude sighed heavily at this new relief. So he wasn't horrible deformed. That was one less thing for him to worry about. "You are special! You're my very first and best friend!" He beamed back and stumbled forward to nuzle her gently. "And I wouldn't have you any other way!"
Claude then smiled at the name. "Feathers," he mused his new name. It sure didn't sound like a porper deem, but it would do until his mother returned from her adventures. "I like it! It's rather foolish, but I like foolish! It's like my mother! Well, from this day on for you and you alone I shall be feathers!" He giggled and pranced in place. "Imma call you Coon. Becasue of your mask!"
