User ImageHumming a totally made-up tune, Ledi was the embodiment of sunshine walking through her home. And not just because of her golden pelt. She wore a soft smile, something gentle that suggested she had not a thing to worry about. And she didn't really. Surrounded by family and a thriving pride. She had much to do.

Walking and walking until she felt ready for a rest, she flopped beneath a shady tree, sighing heavily and smiling. As she looked back to pride rock, she contemplated her place in the pride. For now, she was a huntress, but as capable as she was, she didn't always enjoy it. Her nose always wrinkled when she thought about things.

User ImageHe wasn't humming nor was there a 'bounce' in Nitesh's step. It was quite the opposite. He was tired and hot (damned fur) and not even sure if he'd made a wrong turn somewhere along the way to where he was headed.

As wise of an individual as his father was, simply believing the 'they're that way' lead had.... been an interesting decision to make, really. Sure he had.... enough of a lack of experience with being a 'grown up' (not to say he had grown in his mane recently, but the 'growing up' mentally that came with it had not been quick) that his father's wisdom had made sense...
...

But now it had left him in the middle of... literally nothing outside of a few trees here and there to take cover underneath, which... well, the one he'd found (with quite a view of a looming shape in the distance) seemed to have company under it already.

...
....

Was this the point where he fled the scene or asked if it was allowable to join her?

As was typical of an active mind, Ledi didn't focus on anything for longer than a few moments, so of course her gaze eventually brought her to a moving shape in the near-distance. At first, she wasn't sure if it was just haze or the heat playing tricks with the earth.

But no, there was certainly movement to this shape.

Ledi shuffled about, uneasily at first. Her good mood and friendly demeanour was easy to share with those she knew, but strangers? She could be welcoming, but had to be wary too. It hadn't escaped her notice, growing up, that her father (whoever he was) was absent from her life. Obviously a passing rogue.

She stood up, a little sharply, but made an effort not to appear aggressive.

"Hello there?"

The sudden rising of the female earned a half-step back from Nitesh who, while not exactly looking threatening, was a big male (mostly that mane of his), his head now held low and looking at the lioness uncertainly.

A greeting. He knew well enough how to respond to those, but at the same time, it was hard to not keep staring at her in particular, his heart sinking right down into his stomach. Awww, was he shy?

"Uh....... H-hello?"

He had stuttered over it a bit, but it had been an attempt to return the sentiment. It was almost as though he was daunted by her, though. Which... he half-was.

But...

but..

Female knew directions, right?

"D-....d....d'you know....w-where the Pridelands are?" Besides right underneath his paws, of course.

She'd risen too quickly. But perhaps emanating a little bit of intimidation was good. At least it looked like this fellow (yes, he was coming a bit closer now and she could make out a mane) didn't want to start a fight.

"...you're in them!" she shouted back, slightly confused. Then peered around, noticing pride rock in the distance. "Oh! You mean there, pride rock?"
PostPosted: Sun Oct 05, 2008 3:49 pm

Oh.. he.. was.... there? Or was it the other 'there' that she seemed to be looking at?

Nitesh half followed her gaze and then sighed a little. Sure that was closer than he'd been thinking... but that... just.... It looked oh so far away. Pride rock?

Was that what it was called?

He gave it a slight frown, before nodding. It seemed... more likely of a place for him to start looking? "I... don't know for sure, but it seems as though that would be...... would there be a lot of lions there?"

That, he realized, sounded oddly suspicious, thus prompting him to explain his mindset:

"I came here to see my older sister... she's a Lioness by name of Moyo....."

Hint hint do you know her bychanceohhelpmepleeeeaaaaasssseee.

Ledi looked to Nitesh, one eyebrow raised in a slightly bemused-but-sympathetic look. She approached him, still smiling softly.

"The name rings a bell," she began, then cast another glance over him as she could see him more clearly. "Want me to walk you there? There's generally a lot of lions milling all around these lands, but pride rock is probably the hub."

He must have looked so pathetic then. But it was strange for him to be out in the world where he wasn't from trying to find someone he hadn't seen since he was a cub... on top of having to meet PEOPLE (Lions? Leopards? Shoot, was 'people' a proper 'umbrella' noun for that?) who he would have no idea would lynch him or not.

Like the crazy Hyena and his Maned Wolf sidekick. That had been a little... disturbing.

But her words lifted his less-than-threatening body posture, his head raising a bit and a slight smile gracing his maw. Awwww, now he looked more like the adult he was supposed to be!

"It.....I.... would like that very much. It'd be a great help if you would... if it wouldn't be asking too much?"

He didn't want to be a burden on someone else if he didn't have to be, afterall. But just randomly walking into the 'inner circle' of the pridelands would have been......... interesting. It would be better if he actually.. y'know..

had a hand.

"It won't be any trouble, I offered," she replied pleasantly and stood flush beside him for a moment. Then nodded to him and began to walk.

She'd seen all manner of pelt colours walking around the Pridelands, and even she couldn't boast a 'natural' colour. But this fellow, he was dark. Darker even the slightly sandy/dusty earth in these lands. Then it dawned on her - they hadn't exchanged names!

Ledi looked almost aghast, moreso at herself for being so impolite!

"Oh! My name is Ledimadima," she said suddenly, like remembering something.

But it was that dark pelt-color that would also be 'helpful' as his sister too boasted the base 'brown' to her, a fact that he was about to share before it seemed the female had interuptted her own thoughts with 'politeness'....

He felt sort of 'out of it' for having not thought of such a thing either.... but then again, one often didn't ask the name of a complete stranger who had just walked in out of the rogue-lands (which were a terrifying thing in and of themselves).

"Ledimadima..." he fumbled over it (as the name was a bit of a mouthful to him), but seemed to have already committed it, before he gave his own name in turn: "Nitesh."

How fitting, 'Heart of the Earth'.

"You can call me Ledi for short," she chuckled. "And its a pleasure to meet you Nitesh."

Pride Rock loomed in the distance, and grew with every step they took. For Ledi, it had always been there, but for a moment, she tried to imagine what it would be like to be a stranger. Like Nitesh. Something so unfamiliar, perhaps even in other parts of this land. Maybe they did have monuments where he came from, but maybe still not as big as Pride Rock.

"So...whats it like where you come from?" she asked, trying to start up some conversation.
PostPosted: Mon Oct 27, 2008 7:21 pm

"That'll be easier to remember." Nitesh said out loud, more 'musing' than anything else.

But it worked enough for him to repeat it out loud. There. Maybe it'd stick. Maybe. Maybe-kinda. Who knew.

"Where I'm from?" Like any 'dumb' male he had to repeat the question, before smiling a bit, nostalgically (Oh geeze, he hadn't even been away that long!). "Well, there are a lot of families, like my parents and my older brothers have, and it's surrounded by a jungle."

Hmmm, how else could he describe it?

"It welcomes all sorts of species, like hyenas and leopards and stuff... though I don't know any leopards. I knew a hyena though.... I think she trailed away some time ago, though."

A sort of sad and lonely tone.

"We welcome all and we allow all to leave though they are our family. Though it's most painful when they leave."

"Oooh jungle," she said with a slight coo. "We're further away from the jungle out here, not really seen it in my lifetime. Only hear of it from travellers and family and the like."

Nitesh's life didn't sound all that removed from her own. Surrounded by family. Love and loss. It all struck a chord, except the acceptance of other creatures. She couldn't recall ever meeting a leopard, and certainly couldn't imagine them around the pride. And hyenas...the very thought made her shudder slightly.

"Yeah, its always sad when you can't see anyone anymore. I don't know what I'd do if any of my sisters or brothers or uncles and aunts decided to leave. I'd probabaly follow them for a while, making sure they're okay," she laughed.
PostPosted: Mon Nov 10, 2008 3:43 pm

It seemed 'his' jungle was an appealing thought to her. Nothing wrong with that notion afterall. He certainly liked it. Certainly more places to hide than in an open savannah... prettier too if he judged by all of the surrounding areas.

"You should see one sometime in your lifetime..." he suggested, not really an 'LOL GO SEE MY HOME' invitation, but an experience of all the lovely scenery around the continent really was worth the time.

All he was really missing was having his toes frozen off and having his paws suitably melted by the desert. Neither seemed pleasant, but then again he didn't know fully of them yet, so it wasn't as though he'd be able to pre-empt the idea and spare himself some suffering for it.

Not that suffering wasn't normal. A little weather wouldn't kill him.

"Hmm, I might," she mused aloud, still quite cheerful. She walked with a little rhythm of her own, quite bouncy and subtle, but there none-the-less.

"Oh, if anyone asks, you came in with me. We try to make sure most newcomers are accounted for," she added as an after-thought. "What made you decide to come look for your sister?"

They seemed to be walking through some quite pleasant territory, now wading through grasses and small hillocks spotted with small pools of water. The sound of the great stream just floated on the air, as did the churring of animals as they grazed.
