A youthful gray Painter sat at the base of a tree, dark gold eyes trained on a bird sitting on one of the tree’s lower branches. The bird – a wild Dire Owl – hooted and cocked its head to the side, studying the young dragon, and the young dragon quickly imitated its movements.
“ Nasuada.”
Turning its head back upright, the owl looked around for the sorce of the noise. Oblivious, Nasuada continued to watch it, now joined by her Chureep.
“ Nasuada!”
With a ruffle of feathers the owl was gone, causing the young female to blink in surprise and look around for the bird, her eyes eventually landing an a petite, blue adult stand nearby.
“ Nasuada, were you listening to me?”
The tennaged Painter, Nasuada, shook her head before bowing it in shame.
“ No. I’m sorry, Aunt Sayuri.”
Sayuri sighed, folding her feathery wings to her body as she eyed her “niece.” Her denmate, Grendel, said that his daughter needed to go out and learn about the world, though truth be told she suspected that he had simply given into Nasuada’s begging. Regardless, Sayuri had ended up taking the teenager to the Scrub Forest in hopes of teaching her about medicinal plants.
“ Are you still amazed by owls, despite your sister Isis’s familiar, as well as my own? You must pay attention, Nasuada, for there may come a day that you will need this knowledge.”
“ Yes Aunt Sayuri.”

Xai is out and about. A rare event. She wanders around her mansions fruit tree orchard. She goes farther and farther out on a quest for the very best fruit. As she goes along she barely notices as her clingy daughter stays right by her side."mom""Hmm? I think there MUST be better stuff out here. Don't you think. I don't care what Akemi thinks, we should only eat the good stuff.""mom, thats not our land.""I knew you would agree, see right through these bushes, I bet it blocks off the best stuff.""MOM"Xai swings around surprised at her daughter raising her voice. "Yes?"Mu-lin sighs exasperated "We aren't on our land anymore.""OH! .. so?"Mu-lin just shakes her head and follows.

Kokuro Nagi prowled through the undergrowth, and sighed, it was a gorgeous day. The sun filtered through the trees, and everything was quiet, just as it usually was. A small fox was perched on his head and chattering in his ear as he padded along, and Kokuro could only imagine what many colorful things the little creature was trying to say. It was not his companion or familiar, it was simply a creature he had helped feed once or twice, well a couple of times, after it had broken once of its legs from a nasty fall.
Kokuro was hoping the little thing would go back to its friends soon, but he wasn't sure if his wish would come true any time soon.... That is until, he spotted a flash of blue from trees in front of him, and the soft sound of bickering voices in the distance. At that point, the little fox decided that hanging about even more Painters, who may just be hungry, was not a very smart idea, and it high tailed it out of there. Kokuro chuckled and said a silent goodbye to the little fox before continuing on his way for, now curious of who this new acquaintance could be.

Sayuri dug her claws into the ground as she heard sounds indicating the arrival of other Painters; Nasuada was, of course, oblivious. One flick of her tail send her Owl Chiyo to investigate the voices while another flick sent Mineko ambling into the bushes.
“ Have you learnt anything? What is the use of Nightshade?”
Nasuada’s face scrunched up as she contemplated the question.
“ Um… Oh, I know! It helps you go to sleep!” She said happily, her chest puffing out with pride what she thought was a great answer. She quickly deflated at Sayuri’s reply.
“ No! Nightshade is poisonous, hence why it’s called Deadly Nightshade. Unless you find death and sleep to be comfortably similar, you’d do well to pay attention.”

Xai wanders through some bushes to find that, shocker, the fruit stopped growing. She pouts but keeps going. Mu-lin stops,"Where are you going?" She didn't want to go to far from home. She just wanted to get back to Rampel. Xai stops, "Come on, it will be fun." she uses her tail to push forward her reluctant daughter. "I thought that maybe you would want to go out, Sofiel likes it so much I thought, maybe, you would." Mu-lin stops," It was a set-up?? Its a little obvious now." she says deflating, upset her MOTHER outwitted her. How embarrasing. "I am good mum, I won't run away like Sofiel. I like are home so much, I want to go back now." she counters with a roll of her eyes. Xai smiles are procedes like she didn't say anything. "Good, LETS GO!" Whoo!" she starts pushing through the bushes. Mu-lin hesiatates," What if... theres..... 'something' in there??" she says gesturing toward the bush. "Oh, there isn't any-" *rustle rustle*

Kokuro Nagi smiled and scented the air, it did not smell like danger, so he proceeded upon his stroll. His ear swiveled and caught all of the sounds of the forest, magnified intensely. He heard a flapping of wings, and stared up amongst the tree tops. He spotted yet again, another flash of blue and smiled, it was probably a familiar of the Painter he spotted ahead. Continuing on his way, Kokuro made absolutely no sound as he tread through the underbrush, walking with grace and a sort of caring aura around him that he hoped would help relax the nerves of the Painter he was approaching. Kokuro heard a rustling amongst the bushes and discounted it as trees finally thinned and Kokuro Nagi stepped into the open...

Today was a glorious day, that much was sure! The weather was nice, the trees were green, and the sky was blue. It was today that Tasogare was walking through the forests near her home. All that could make the day better was...
She paused - ears pricked. What was that? Was that...another Painter? She sounded young - a teenager, perhaps? And there was an adult nearby as well - both females. Tasogare felt even brighter than before, if that was possible. Another painter to brag to! Still, though, Tasogare decided that she should be careful. Maybe they weren't friendly.
The fluorescent Chi-lin strolled forward - not bothering to hide herself, but not making a ruckus, either. She tried to peer around the bush in front of her, but was unable to see much except for something large and blue.

Hearing a nearby rustling, Sayuri turned, shielding Nasuada with slightly spread wings as she looked to see who or what was approaching.
“ Who’s there?”
Nasuada peered around the side of Sayuri’s bulk to see what was happening. When she caught sight of the newcomer she did a double-take before blurting out,“ Where are your wings?”
~*~
Mineko strolled out of the bushes, cocking her head as she eyed the snake-like Painters. Balancing carefully, she stood up and waved a paw of greeting in their direction before sitting back on her bum.
~*~
Chiyo flew one loop through the clearing containing Sayuri, Nasuada, and a brown male, before diving into the bushes to find a perch from which to watch. She quickly found a handy black branch, and was just getting comfortable when she realized two things. First of all, the branch didn’t have the texture of any branch she had ever landed on before, and second, it was moving despite a lack of wind. Bending over, she found herself staring into a pair of bright green eyes.
“ Hooo?”

Xai looks down shocked at the blue,.. thing. Mu-lin spots what her mother is staring at and shrieks. Loudly. Xai shushs her daughter, ears ringing. "Its ok, its ok, it is just a pygmy giant panda, very sweet." Mu-lin stops and stares at the thing. "A what?, it looks weird." "A panda darling." she bends down and puts out a paw out to the blue panda.

Kokuro paused and bent his front legs and head and a deep bow to the blue Aviadracus, "I come in peace, do not be alarmed. I was simply taking a stroll through the woods and heard voices." He chuckled and smiled down at the curious grey youngling, "Why, my wings are inside my heart! The Chi'lin, which is what I am, do not possess the ability of winged flight, but we do pride ourselves in our speed upon the ground. Ever run so fast you feeling like you are flying...? Well, that is how the Chi' simulate flight." He looked over at Sayuri with a face that seemed to ask, Was that a good explanation? Kokuro then looked up at the sky and around himself curiously, "No I wonder where my companions could have gotten to..."

Sayuri watched the scaly, wingless male as he spoke, relaxing slightly. He was larger then both she and Nasuada, and yet he did not seem to harbor and malicious intentions. Gently folding her wings back into place, she nodded her acceptance at the male’s answer.
“ I have heard of those that fly upon the ground, but until now have not had the pleasure of meeting one. If all of your kind speaks with your skill then I shall have to acquaint myself with many so that I might enjoy their company.” She said, dipping the front half of her body in a bow. “ My name is Sayuri.”
Nasuada attempted to mimic Sayuri’s motions, but her ungainly wings caused her to fall to her side. This did not seem to deter her, however, because as she scrambled to stand she said,“ I’m Nasuada!”
Trotting over to the Chi'Lin, Nasuada's gait was so energetic that it almost seemed as if she were bouncing.” I’m not much good at running – keep tripping over my paws – but I bet I could beat you in a race if I was flying!”
Sayuri shook her head at Nasuada’s boasts, knowing full well that the youth’s flying skills left much to be desired.
~*~
Mineko, mindful of her claws, touched her own paw to Xai’s, exhaling noisily upon seeing how much smaller her paw was next to the P’an-Lun’s.

Kokuro chuckled and blinked understandingly to Sayuri and replied, "I am very glad you find my presence pleasurable! I would have hated to interrupt any of the lessons you may have been teaching the young one with useless chatter." He looked down at the unsteady Nasuda as she approached him, not at all demurred by their size difference, and smiled softly. Kokuro was very good with children and replied, "Why, with magnificent wings such as yours, I would have a run for my money, literally, against you in a race!" He blinked and continued, "An running well takes just as much practice as flying well. I am certain you will master it with age..." Then, after a thoughtful pause, Kokuro sighed with exasperation and chuckled at himself, "It seem I forgot to introduce myself! I am Kokuro Nagi, it is a pleasure to meet two such fine ladies...."
