In the Undine region of Darmia, a little katorai was sitting on a lilypad, near the shore of the lake. She was white with gold splotches, a gold so dark that they seemed almost red - her markings were those of a koi, the beautiful white and gold fish. Indeed, that was even what her name meant: Higoi: white and gold koi.
She was a shy little thing, and though she loved to meet new people, she was also afraid of it. At the moment, she was alone, sitting and staring thoughtfully into the water, basking in the warmth of the sun and wishing that something would happen.

Along the back side of the lilly pad soft popping sounds and a soft tugging on the plant. If and when Higoi turned to look she would see two small dark red tentacle tips disappearing into the water.
Deep under the water a small male katorai from the Undine realm watched his small friend and the pretty pair of feet. He was a very shy and almost smaller than other male his age. HIs friend an equally small octopus was braver and loved to test things for his dear friend.

Higoi felt something tugging on the back of her lily pad, and she whirled around, crying out in fear, both hands over her mouth, eyes wide, to see what it was. She saw two tiny dark red things slipping over the side ... what were those? Where had they come from? What were they doing there?
Where had they gone?
She got to her hands and knees and crawled to the other side of the lily pad, then peered timidly over the edge into the water to see what it might have been.
"He-hello?" she called out in a squeaky, scared voice. "Wh-who's there?"
She flattened herself to the lily pad, making herself as invisible as possible to whoever might be down there.

At the soft scared tones of the female asking questions Bingly slowly raise up a tentacle to wave ad her. His little black eyes that would glint gold in the sunlight looked up at her. He could not smile at her for his mouth was on the other side and beaks had a hard time smiling. But he tried to look as cute as possible.
Bennet watched from his in the water. Being from Undine he had no trouble with breathing in the water. And he did not want to startle the other Katori...from her movements she looked like she might have a short trigger.

Higoi giggled nervously as the octopus appeared in the water, relaxing a bit. She hadn't been imagining things - and she wasn't being threatened.
"Hello," she said softly, waving at the cute little guy with one finger. She crawled over to the edge of the lily pad and knelt there, her hands tucked safely in her lap, and leaned forward a little to take a closer look at the octopus. "What's your name?"

The octopus 'smiled' and reached for lilly pad and pulled his small body up onto it and reached a tentacle to softly pop his suckers on her hand. Though he kept two tentacles in the water to wave at Bennet and tell him it would be alright for him to come up.
Bennet saw the wave and he slowly moved up to the surface just so his golden eyes and dark red ears would be seen.

Higoi watched the little octopus's tentacles as they reached for her hand, her eyes filled with anxiety, showing how nervous she was. It felt strange on her hand, and she put her other hand over it, getting used to the new feel, and she was so intent on what she was doing that she didn't see the katorai that had appeared behind the octopus.
"You're not scary," she smiled, stroking the tentacle. "You're really nice ..."

Bingly softly popped his tentacles to help try and calm her nerves. He then moved to plop back into the water to breath.
Bennet took that time so speak up. He was still a good ways from her, "His...name is Bingly." he said very softly his golden eyes watching her making sure that she would not turn and try to hurt him. Even if Bingly said it was okay.

Higoi felt sad when Bingly slipped once more beneath the water, and she was so distracted that when she heard the voice she jumped in fright and looked around anxiously.
"Who- who are you?" she stammered, blushing hotly at the sudden appearance of the other katorai. "Where did you come from?"

Bennet jumped as will and ducked a bit more under the water so just his eyes and ears were visible. He looked down into the water and slowly rose his head back above it. "Um...Bennet....I am Bingly's friend...I....um...came from the water...." he was shaking alittle and he hoped that it did not show threw.
Bingly having his fill of oxygen moved back on to the little pad and looked, as best and octopus could, a bit shocked. He slowly and softly moved to place his tentacle upon her hand again.

Higoi blushed deeply, her cheeks becoming a stunning red that matched the splotches all over her body.
"I'm ... Higoi," she offered shyly, doing her best not to turn and run. "I live in the water ... too ..."
So she had found someone else like her, maybe? That would be nice!
Her blush deepened and she lowered her eyes nervously, stroking the octopus's tentacle on her hand gently. "Do you ... want to be friends?" she asked, much like the innocent child she was.

Bingly nodded and slowly moved to crawl into Higoi's lap and softly hugged her. He was enjoying her. He even tucked a couple tentacles under so his beak would not harm her.
Bennet didn't know if Higoi was talking to him or Bingly. He looked down and blushed a bit. "BIingly or me miss Higoi?" He asked shyly. Luckily for him his dark red skin made his blushing very hard to see.

Higoi's blush grew darker as Bingly crawled into her lap, and she put one hand on his head and stroked it gently.
"Both of you," she told Bennet softly, raising her eyes to meet his. "You both seem very nice ... and ... I don't know anyone yet ... and ..."
Her voice grew smaller. "And I feel so very alone ..."

Bennet flush deepened and he swam slowly closer towards her. "Yes....your my first non octopus friend." he smiled and rest his hands on the edge of the lilly pad. "I didn't mean..to um...scare you Higoi."
Bingly nuzzled into the hand and the lap. He was enjoying the little female.
