Stepping onto the sands of the Coliseum floor, a multitude of feelings rushed into Diez's body. He felt the anger that this place held within it, the rage and futile anguish of thousands of soldiers who could do nothing to stop their own deaths, dieing for the sake of entertainment alone. He felt each individual drop of blood that had ever been spilled upon the dark powder. He could watch in his mind as it rained blood from an infinite number of wounds, and the ground turned a brilliant scarlet as they dropped, each ounce of the precious liquid preceded by a lifetime of experiences, of beautiful moments, dark secrets, fantastic victories, crippling defeats... all brought to nothing here in the great Arena. Much as he feared death, he had always admired it somewhat. It was, after all, the great equalizer.

He felt the hunger of the sands... the sands which had grown accustomed to the taste of blood over the years. The sands which had not been fed in generations. And he acknowledged the hunger. Walking to the very center of the massive, circular arena, he reaches within his cloak, and pulls forth a small dagger. Holding his hand out in front of him, he rakes the blade across his own flesh, and his blood gushes forth from the wound almost as if it is eager to meet the Coliseum. Diez smiled. It was fitting that his was the first blood to be spilled in the Coliseum.

He turns now, and motions to an unseen figure in the distance.

"Come now, Willow. These shall be your proving grounds. Attack me, and do not hold back. I need to know what you are capable of." He stands perfectly straight in the middle of the arena, his aged voice crackling and echoing across the massive structure. "Let us begin."

The figure in the distance merely stared back at him for a moment, nodding in return to his statement before taking a couple of steps towards him until she was about 5 yards away. There came a glimmer in her eyes...something old that had been rekindled by the scent of Diez's blood now on the wind. Perhaps even a memory or two coming back to meet her. But no, she wouldn't be caught up in the past... not now when she was expected to be in the most peak condition. Though that she was not... rusty from years and years without a thought of bloodshed or meaningless skirmishes... though this was hardly meaningless. Wearing her full military garb, she brought her hands out of the pockets of the thick, yet light leather trenchcoat, her hair swaying gently in the breeze. "Of course, Diez..."
She effortlessly slid into a side position, her body faceing to the left (Your right) most of her weight on her left foot which was behind her at the moment. Bringing her left hand to her side and her right hand in front of her face, both as guards, she looked at Diez with a smirk forming on her face.
"Leaders, first..." She said, asking for him to make the first move. Her wolf-like ears twitched, the sound of the sand beneath her feet moving easily heard through her ears. That was about the only advantage she had at the moment... Her footing might easily slide in the sand.

((I'll post tomorrow. I have some thank you cards I need to write. >o'
P.S. Sorry I wasn't on last night. I had some... problems with a computer virus x_x ))

((OH MY HOLY JEEBUS. Where do you get all that gold!? gonk You could buy and sell ME on the marketplace for all the gold you're wearing!))

Diez bows to the lady in acknowledgement of her request.

"Very well."

In exact synchronization with the word "well," the Dark Lord discharged a shockwave of pure force into the through his feet. Directed at Willow, the force of the shockwave would launch Willow into the air. On top of this, the only feasible way to dodge the shockwave would be to jump, which would also place her firmly where Diez wanted her; in the air. Diez began to gather energy into his right hand, intending to launch a small dark fireball at Willow once she was in the air, and vulnerable to his assault.

((Lmao! XD I might take you up on that offer. XP
I get most of the stuff from sealed envelopes when they first come out before the prices go sky high. its about 10k per month that I usually earn and spend, and its for sealed letters ;3 I'd say I probably have about... 120k invested in Donation Letters. xD

EDIT ><' Forgot to add in the counterattack to the fireball Xx' excuse that. ))

Grinning, Willow felt the vibrations of the shockwave before it hit, though she had no idea what it was. Taking a guess that it might be some sort of spell to conjure up something from the ground. Because the ground beneath her feet was also...sand.. it probably absorbed about 20% of the shockwave, though it was still enough to force her up a bit into the air. Shifting the position of her feet a bit, she made a jumping motion, though instead of going straight upwards, she dove off to her left side, inadvertantly making the shockwave ineffective as her feet left the ground. Though, she saw the darkfireball launched towards her. Holding on the sheathe of the katana that hung loosely at her left hip with her left hand, and onto the hilt of the katana with her right, she pulled the katana loose from its sheathe in midair, swinging it towards the fireball in a horizontal arch, using one hand to hold it. She hit the fireball using the middle part of the sword, almost as though it was a baseball bat. The fireball vanished from sight, being absorbed into the sword like a dust into a vacuum cleaner. Volcanic Fusion Since it was after all, a type of fire, the energy was absorbed into the sword, Willow using the spell mentioned above to do so. Going into a roll as she hit the ground, she didn't even need to shift her weight to stop, for the sand basically kept her from moving so easily. She was approximately 3 yards away from where she had been standing.

She kept her eyes on Diez, holding on the sheathe of the katana that hung loosely at her left hip with her left hand, and held onto the hilt of the katana with her right. She shifted her weight from where she was crouched, springing forwards and making a straight run for Diez. The katana that she gripped so dearly near her right side with her right hand hand seemed to have a slight warmth emanating from beneath the sheathe, as well as a faint red light... When she was about 2 1/2 feet from Diez, she took a swing at him with the Katana, only meant to be a fakeout, considering her katana came up short in size. Only being 2ft 4 inches long, it wouldn't even hit him. Attempting to confuse Diez, she shifted her weight a bit, darting off to his left and changed the grip of the katana so that she held it in two hands and had it pointed directly at his side. She pushed off from the ground and quickly attempted to stab him in his lower left side, the movement so fast it almost seemed a bit of a blur.

((OOC: I'm probably not going to be very good at this. Gaia RPing and GameFAQs RPing (my old site) are very different things. In GameFAQs RPing, speedhacking is actually encouraged; we would perform 6-page-long attacks that made Final Fantasy summons look like burning a paper towel. xd ))

Diez smiled as he watched Willow running towards him. Close range combat was not his strong point. The distance between Willow and himself was decreasing rapidly, and that simply would not do. Two tendrils of darkest black extended themselves from Diez's cloak, stretching out to the side opposite of Willow, so it would be difficult for her to see them. Thrusting themselves firmly into the sand, and reaching down until they were firmly rooted, the tendrils waited for Diez's command... closer she came, and closer, until finally, he felt she was in range. Her first slash succeeded in faking him out, but it also succeeded in removing him from her attacking range. He leapt backwards, pulled by the retracting tentacles. Using them as leverage, he slingshotted himself backwards at distance of at least 30 feet. As he flew backwards, he whiplashed the two tentacles forward, flattening the front parts of them out, and hardening them so they would break off, essentially sending two large buzzsaw-like objects screaming directly at Willow. They were only meant as a distraction of course. As Diez landed, he began to gather dark energy into himself again, preparing to cast a powerful dark spell to see how Willow would defend against it. As he did this, the tendrils retracted back into his cloak, and shot downwards into the earth, moving to a position under the earth several feet in front of Diez. Should Willow attempt to close the distance again, the tentacles would shoot up from the ground to attack her, and foil her attempt...

((That's alright. No one's perfect. At least you've had experience prior. XD A paper towel, you say? Heh... impressive, though I don't think anyone could respond to a 6 page long post filled with several attacks and spells suddenly being performed while all the while their opponent was paralyzed during the process in which the magic needed was being summoned. ))

Her eyes widened for a moment, and ducked, both objects passing overhead. Brushing herself off, she stood up, and sheathed the katana looking a bit annoyed at the moment. Using this short moment that Diez was busy, she started walking backwards, pulling out a strange wooden object from her jacket. The wooden flute covered in ruins painted on with her own blood, the end sharp and jagged making it seem more and more like a weapon than a simple instrument with blood splattered all over it. She brought it to her lips, still moving backwards slowly, but keeping her eyes on Diez constantly. There came the soft sound of music from the thing, though it seemed to lash out in its own way, invisible strings attempting to wind themselves around Diez's mind and heart.

((Hmmm... this is a bit of an odd attack, one that I'm not quite sure how to respond to. But I like it, and I think I have a little idea...))

The music reached Diez's ears, and he felt something very strange beginning to happen to him. That simply wouldn't do at all, so there was really only one thing to do...

Diez cut off his hearing. A small alteration in the psychic signals he was sending and recieving from his body allowed him to maintain all of his other senses, but cut off the sound feed, so the music could no longer affect him. In the meantime, the energy needed for his spell was fully gathered. Rising slowly into the air, tendrils of dark energy extended from Diez's body. The tendrils began to rotate around his body with incredible speed, faster and faster, until pieces of them began to break off. As they did so, they changed shape in mid-air, morphing into large, black bats. First there were only a few... then a few more... ten, twenty, forty... they began to swarm towards Willow at an amazing speed. The bats wings were razor-sharp, and as they reached her, they began to attempt to dive-bomb her at amazing speed. As Diez exhausted the spell, no less than 75 bats were on the field of battle, all approaching the young wolf guardian rapidly from different directions. In the meantime, Diez began to charge another spell...

((My Journal might explain why I would be able to do that. If it is unacceptable, however, simply let me know, and I will change it.))

((I like j00r style. mrgreen Post edited to respond to attack. Post posted so... well... you'd know I posted. xp ))

((Thanks for the compliment. And it's fine. I like a good challenge. Besides, I forgot to mention something anyways, so 'tis my fault for anything that may happen from this point on. XP Because I'm so generous, you know))

The invisible strands were suddenly cut away from Diez... Willow could feel it... Though before she could try anything else, she saw the bats. Flipping the flute in one hand, she looked as though she'd use it to fend off the bats. Igniting it using a simple casting spell, the blood on the wooden instrument seemed to glow, reacting in a strange way to the fire as Willow expected it would. Instead of using it to fend off the bats though, she through the jagged end towards Diez, aiming to hit him in the heart. The instrument seemed to pulse, synchronizing with Diez's own heart and attracted to the mainpoint in which all blood flowed through constantly. As one of the bats dive-bombed her, she dove down to the ground, pulling out her katana, and a few kunai (a total of 4) out of the pocket of her coat. Stalling for time as she started muttering something, she threw the kunai at the bats, her aim precise in knocking all four in their center. She swung the katana a bit like a stick, fending off 10 of the bats while evading a couple more by constantly jumping around. She elbowed a 3 more, but all the while receiving several cuts and bruises from the things. As she continued muttering the incoherent nonsense, the ground beneath herself and Diez began to tremble a bit.

((Gaia is acting screwy for me, so I'm going to have to pause the battle until I can get things sorted out.))((Yokies.. need to go for the night anyways))

((What you're fighting doesn't actually have a heart. xp See journal for details.))

The Dark Lord saw the flute coming. It was apparently some sort of homing flute. No matter. A quick flick of the tendril to obstruct its path, and the instrument of death was quite deflected. Continuing to charge his spell, Diez feels the earth tremble beneath his feet. That cannot be a good sign... commanding his tendrils once more, he lifts himself off of the ground with four of them, and begins to walk around the battlefield, approximately 20ft off the ground. He continues to move about the perimeter of the field, as he watches Willow carefully, knowing that his spell must be charged for at least one more turn before he can unleash it...

((X.x Not very much spare change.. how much ya need?
^^' Sorry I wasn't on yesterday! I was laying down on the couch or in bed all day.. x_x' over-exerted myself. ))

Looking at Diez, she watched him carefully, still muttering something faintly underneath her breath. What was going to happen with the constant tremoring of the ground, she seemed to make no hint of... Taking a few steps back and slipping into a defensive stance. The ground seemed to quake even harder, a few cracks appearing in the ground where steam began to rise quickly out, creating a thin fog. As an extra precaution, she pulled out a single kunai, gripping it tightly with a smirk on her face. Sweat dripped down her forhead, something a lot more complicated than just the murmering of a spell going on.
Lord Diez generated a random number between 1 and 50 ... 9!
