Looking up at the sky, Atreyu made a face. It was hot out, although there was, at least, a breeze that ruffled his long, unkempt hair, giving some small relief from the sun. Really, if not for his father, he wouldn't be out wandering until a little later in the afternoon, when it had begun to cool off.
However, some things weren't meant to be. Astraeus, as per his usual, had managed to wander from the beaten path--in theory, they were supposed to meet up at the incense shop, in an attempt at making contact with some of the other kyunru that were also in the area (or, perhaps, some of the pala, or kun-kuns)...there were times that it was nice to interact with those outside of one's family group, after all. However, true to form, Astraeus had never shown up--and after waiting for quite some time, Atreyu (always energetic) had decided it was time to go track him down. It really wasn't unusual for the older kyun to get sidetracked--this was far from the first time he'd wandered off and ended up in a completely different location than where he'd been supposed to be heading...but, just where the rather spacy kyunru had veered off the road...was far less easy to guess.
Exhaling, Atreyu looked at the tangled underbrush that ran alongside the road, telling himself that this wasn't all bad--it was another test of his knightly principles, and a noble enough quest! Running a paw through his messy forelock, Atreyu looked for an opening to slide through, to better start searching the surrounding woodland--so intent was he on his study of the dense foliage, in fact, that it was unlikely that he'd notice the presence of another, unless they happened to come flying out of said aforementioned underbrush.
