Know three things you'd say?
I know WAY more than three!
I'd be too nervous to say anything.
I'm not curious about anything the books didn't anser.

I was inspired to make this topic by a few comments made in the Harry: A History thread.

If you could ask and/or tell JKR up to three things what would they be, especially now that there series is complete and you know there'll be no more forthcoming information?

Mine would have to be:

1 - How did James' and Lily's relationship progress from love-hate to marriage?

2 - What was Sirius' motive for telling Snape to go into the Whomping Willow and what was James' motive for saving him?

3 - Why didn't you give Remus a death scene? I know you didn't originally plan on him and Tonks being a couple (that's why nothing between them indicated attraction in OotP and why their relationship seemed so out-of-the-blue in HBP), and that as a result you didn't originally plan on them having a child and dying. However, once you decided to kill them off you should have AT LEAST given him a death scene. To have Harry walk by and see their corpses made it so pathetically obvious that their deaths were inserted. I love your writing, but that was sloppily done. It was okay to have the observation of a carcass done for Colin becuse he wasn't a major character, but EVERYONE else from Remus' generation had a death scene: Sirius, Wormtail, Snape, and even james and Lily in the flashback in Voldemort's mind. Because you belated decided that Remus had to die he deserved a death scene too.

Yes, everything would have to do with the marauders' era because I LOVE the characters from that generation! whee heart

I'd ask about the marauder's era, too. Maybe one next generation question though. biggrin !

1) I guess I'd ask what Lily and James last day was like.

2)I've also always been pretty curious about how close James and Sirius actually were. I think, this is in my mind, that James was the person who was closest to Sirius. (Brother wise.) I would ask like something about the relationship between the two of them. I always cry in those James/Sirius friendship stories where Sirius reflects on James death D:! crying

3) Last but not least, do Rose and Scorpius get together for real, or is it just in our minds?

Okay there we go. I hope number 2 wasn't too confusing, I just really want to know.

I've never really thought about what I'd ask JKR about. This gives me a chance to actually think about it. Good thread idea, Minerva.

1) First, I'd ask her more about the founders. I've always been interested in them. There wasn't enough information about them.

2) I'd also ask for some more information on Dumbledore's life before the books. He seems like an interesting person and the seventh book made me want to know more.

3) Lastly, I'd ask her about Regulus Black. I mean, he was mentioned but not much was said really except for the whole tricking Voldie out of his Horcux thing. I'd just like to know more about him and his relationship with his family and Sirius.

That's probably not all the questions I'd want to ask but those are my top three.
PostPosted: Tue Sep 30, 2008 9:34 am

Rayvyn, glad you liked my idea! I wish we knew more about Regulus too. Fan fictions where he and Sirius can't stand each other annoy me because I'm 100% CONVINCED that they cared for one another, but we don't KNOW that, do we? During the tapestry scene when Sirius speaks to harry about his brother he seems to have some disappointment/regret in his tone, but no dislike.

Suze, I thought how close James and Sirius was clear from the books, but I suppose it's natural for you to want to know more. The two of them loved and valued each other more than any of their other friends. From what Sirius said in the Shack in PoA, James and Sirius cared for Peter so much that they would've died for him, but they didn't respect him (He said they considered him "a weakling" even back then, remember?) and they didn't trust Remus enough since they assumed he was the spy. Sirius tells Harry in front of Remus that James was "the best friend I ever had." I like to think that is because Sirius and Remus were lovers so naturally James would be his best "friend," but either way it's clear that James and Sirius had no qualms about letting everyone know whose opinion they regarded the most highly.

True. I don't know. I guess what I was really wanting was a maruader story. Too bad it won't happen, but I guess I wanted clarification. People like to debate with me. I want to be like hah, I was right I guess kinda way.

Oh and I thought of another question. Did Neville and Hannah have kids?
PostPosted: Wed Oct 01, 2008 7:10 am

I would ask her why, in a book where a main theme is discrimination, and how you shouldn't hate people for being part of a specific group, she consistently alienates the Slytherin children and sets it up to suggest that they, kids aged 11-18, have no potential for good or redemption.

Was it so that the Draco/Narcissa thing would be more powerful? I don't care. I think it's disturbing. These kids are cunning and ambitious. This means that not a one of them was anything more than a jackal? Tsk, tsk, JKR.

Would it be too much to ask for a single child in Slytherin other than Severus to have turned out alright?

I know I'd have two things left, but I probably wouldn't let that point go.

No, wait. I'd also ask her why the hell she didn't let someone proofread the books before they hit the stores. Especially DH. The amount of spelling and grammar errors in that book made me so very angry. Secrecy isn't worth it.

Okay here is what I would like to know.

1.) I would like to know more about Hagrid's life and his animals. JK touched on his past, mentioned his mother leaving, his father's death, and Grawp but I would like to know what he went through being a halfling in a world that seems to be prejudice against beings like him. And since he was Dumbledor's go-to-guy, sometimes, he must have had more then a few adventures of his own, and all the things he must have found in the forbidden forest. I would just really like to know.

2.) I would like to have a tome of potions brought out. JK came out with 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.' Maybe come out with Snape's Journals or Notebooks, and include his life story in the pages, with the potions. Of course there would be a disclaimer that they don't really work, or ask a real apothecary for recipes for air freshening oils, or simple bad smelling prank liquids; and besides where is a kid going to get a hold of wyrmroot, or a unicorn horn? Anyhow back to subject; Snape I always felt was one of those people that were like Batman really. You know something terrible happened and it changed who they were to the core, and because of who they are they can't be the hero or good guy, but that does not keep them from trying to make the wrongs, right.

3.) I want to know more about the other creatures in the HP world. Like mermaid culture, centaur traditions, Fae and Goblin societies and their stand points on the world. How do they feel having to hide all the time, and having to move because of muggles destroying their homes? I want to know about them and the lives they lead. Do they have children with Witches and Wizards? Will they be treated like Remus and Hagrid? Do they teach them or send them to schools? What would their jobs be? What do they eat, and do thy grow it or gather it? What kind of rules do they have? How do they make decisions and if only a few make decisions, who are they and how did they come to get this power?

I know the last one will probably be boring for everyone else. xd But I like studying that type of thing. Our world is very vast but it's shrinking all the time. Getting to know the people who live near you and work with you is important and it shows you are willing to try and see things from their few, which most people respect. I think the same could be said in the Magical World.

In the moment I'm too stressed, soonly thing I'd ask her is:

How could have you killed all those people, you crazy woman?! scream

I'm sorry JKR,but I've had awful day...George has a girlfriend!!!!! gonk crying crying crying crying crying

Suze will know what it's about.....I'll probably edit this post later....sorry....

Kat, it also vexed me the JKR didn't redeem Slytherin at all. If I could ask/tell her several things I'd include that too, but since I only have 3 I need to inquire about my beloved Marauders first. heart

Katie, I really liked your third question. In one AU fan fic I read, Remus spent lots of time with the centaurs and it was interesting to see how the author described their culture, but I'm curious about what JKR thinks. That's why everyone should appreciate Tolkien; he wrote SO MANY books about Middle-Earth information that nobody WANTED to know it all! rofl

xd I know. He put so much into his work. I long to be like him, but I would write my story and include a companion book with all the details and pictures of the people and places. But Tolkien didn't get to finish the 3rd book, he died, I believe, before he could so his son did it for him. They are beautiful books, but to much detail gets in the way of the story. I try to detail things in stories I write, but I only do it to a point before I draw the room or landscape and put a reference to the other works on the pages.

The third book? Oh, Tolkien finished the third one. He wrote the trilogy, the Hobbit, the Sil, and about 10 of the Histories of Middle Earth books, but I believe his son was the one who finished up Unfinished Tales and a last few history books. There were a lot of books...

I'm the kinda person who finds it all fascinating, even the Silmarillion, so... yeah...

Oh, I would really love a book about all the different cultures and races, and how they interacted with both Muggles and magical folk. We learned a little bit about Goblins in DH, and that was one of the things I actually liked about that book.

I've decided what else I would ask JKR. I want a detailed description of WizardSpace. Where Hogwarts is, and Diagon Alley. Places that simply don't take up any physical space. I mean, there are only so many square miles in Britain, and Hogwarts presumably takes up zero of them. Like Hermione's Bag o' Wonder. Where was that stuff? How did that all work? It makes my brain hurt. It's like when I try and figure out where the internet is.

That was the one, thank you. I get things confused, at times, I am ashamed to say. I was reading both the Return of The King and Unfinished Tales, and someone made the comment to me.

I also agree with that Zero Space, technically in the scientific world it is possible. I am looking this up so I don't get it wrong, but it is still a tricky theoretical subject. They have discovered time has substance, through black holes, and time can be move and distorted. Everything that has mass, can distort time. The bigger the object, the more gravity, and the more energy it has and needs, the larger the distortion in time. The Light=energy, Energy=Mass times The Speed of light or E=MC2. So if Wizards and witches have unknowingly used this with their magic it is possible. If their magic is a form of Light or Energy, which comes from the wands, then they can literally bend a wrinkle in time, that wouldn't be visible until a person literal walks into it, and it would take up no space. To see it, take a piece of paper and take two sides and bring them together almost toughing. Now look at the giant loop you've made. All that space under the two edges, you could jump across it if it were a time wrinkle, or you could take three hours and go through that extra space. Time since it is around, and in everything would bend the physical world with it, and have land in the wrinkle. While you were in the wrinkle you can see the sky, the rest of the terrain outside the wrinkle, you can't even tell your in a distortion. Time in the wrinkle would follow the same as outside it. It is jumping the wrinkle that saves us time and is thus considered 'time travel'. Putting wards and shields up around the edges keeps a normal person from walking into it and discovering it.

Okay sorry, I know that was complicated and probably ,and little sense most likely. Honestly there are people attempting time travel now, with a single atom. They are watching this atom to see if for just a moment it disappeared from all this light, and energy they are throwing at it. If it does vanish and come back, they will take it as a step in the right direction.

I would ask:

1.Do you have to count to 3 when you use a portkey(I know lame question but I keep wondering)?

2.What happened to any other family members Harry may have had(such as grandmother, grandfather)

3. Will you be wrriting a Hogwarts, A History book?

4.Who is head of Ravenclaw house in the book series(I was thinking Flitwick or Sinistra)?

I can't think of anymore really at the moment but those are things I was simply curious about.
PostPosted: Sat Oct 18, 2008 6:23 pm

I would probably ask her:

1) Why did she kill Fred, Tonks, and Remus????????????????? I want to know!!!!!!!

2) Uh... also I would ask how many other Harry Potter related books she is going to write, maybe something of the Maurder's or founders of the school.

3) I don't really know.... I guess I would just love to hear EVERYTHING she has to say about Harry Potter, like deep meanings and things like that.

I would also have her sign all of my HP books, even my Germany version of #2.

That was Flitwick. 3nodding It's on JKR's site somewhere. Now, you don't have to ask her. xd
