It was a little girl's dream... not only was Ana blissfully entrenched in the mall, she had discovered the most awesomely amazing shop ever! Vienne said the shop would only be there for a month or two, since all it sold was halloween costumes. But she had, grudgingly, let Ana wander around inside while she visited a few other shops.
Ana reveled in the freedom. She was without adult supervision in a store full of skeletons and cauldrons and costumes! Not entirely familiar with what Halloween was, she knew that it meant candy and dressing up and that was good enough for her. Wandering through the aisles crammed with costumes, she found herself pausing over something gauzy and pink and spangled with sequins.

Henri had actually had to talk Izzy into going in the Halloween shop. The 'big scary man' in the blackened windows and all the fake blood had made her think that the insides were going to be scary and icky. Henri assured her that, no, everything inside was fake, if not a bit creepy, and so she had agreed to go in. Now that she was there, Izzy was having a field day looking at all of the costumes (although she'd thrown a few masks that scared her and was very much avoiding a remote-controlled crawling zombie).
"Dey give us CANDIES?!"
"Yep! All ya have to do is say Trick or Treat!"
"WOOOOW."

Ana had moved from the pink gauze to various sets of clip-on fairy wings, and overheard the conversation from between racks of costumes. She knew about candies, she didn't know there was a password to get them, though. Peering around the corner, she watched the man and the little girl.
The girl had the sort of unusual appearance that Ana had learned to associate with other D-Corp children, so she figured that this was another special child, just like her, who would be rewarded with a dragon someday. Not wanting to interrupt, not yet, she watched the two quietly.

Izzy reached up and touched a mermaid costume, fingering the sequined tail.
"Like you, Daddy!"
"Yep. Just like me."
The little girl shuffled on and felt a soft, silky ball gown. it was for big girls, she saw, but that didn't mean she couldn't look at it.

Not one for shyness, Ana stepped out from behind the rack and approached the two. "Hi!" She said, smiling at Izzy. "Thats a really pretty dress! Are you dressing up for Halloween?"

Izzy nodded, puffing out her chest proudly. She just found out what Halloween was, and she loved it already!
"What's your name, honey?" Henri asked, crouching to the girl's height. Where were her parents?!

"I'm Anataela!" Ana said proudly, puffing out her chest a bit. "But you can call me Ana. Cause thats what everybody else calls me." She smiled at the man, liking how he got down to her own height. Vienne never did that.

"And where's your mommy or d--"
"Everyone call meIddy!" Izzy interrupted. She wasn't the only person whose name got shortened for the sake of speaking! Henri sighed and decided to just stick around with the girls. He could make sure she didn't get lost or hurt. He stood then and stretched.

Forgetting Henri for the sake of Izzy, who was a girl and close to her own age and therefore, to Ana, infinitely more interesting, she grinned and asked, "what are you gonna dress up as, Izzy? I cant decide."

"Me neithe'w," Izzy said, ever mature for her young age, "Is a lot of pwetties." She looked over the wall of costumes, mostly for girls 3 times her size, and sighed.
"Maybe mew'maid."

"A mermaid would be neat..." Ana mused, eyeing the costumes to see if there was one with a pink and shimmery tail. She might not know what she was going to dress up as, but she did know that whatever it was, her costume would involve lots and lots of pink just like the rest of her wardrobe. "I might be a princess. Or a fairy. Or a fairy princess!" Fairy princess seemed like a good idea to the little chameleon - the best of both worlds. "They have lots of wings over there."

"Where?" Izzy asked, scampering past Ana to look where she had been. She spotted the wings and shuffled over. Ooooh...pretty!

Ana joined Izzy at the wing display, staring at the pretty glittering accessories. "I like your... your shell." Ana said, resisting the urge to poke the other girl's back to see what it felt like. "I'm part chameleon. What animal are you part of?"

Izzy frowned. Why did people always ask that? They didn't know what it was once she said it.
"Chie-tonn."

Ana was no different in that respect. She'd never heard of a Chiton before. "I've never heard of a Chiton." She smiled. "What does a chiton do? I can change colors!" She added proudly.
