An icy smog drifted amongst the delicately blanketed snow bitten lands, a beautiful sight to see indeed a compliment fitting the season. It had been a while since the start of the season, hitting mid winter now, snow was flooding the lands and settling so comfortably but yet, it was still falling grasping the earths soil as its own and filling the hearts of others with a feeling of apparent joy, for the most part at least. Tree's were now bare, rough and coveted in a pure white substance, those which had managed to keep their luscious green leaves were the large elderly evergreens and spruce tree's which calmly watched over the playful surroundings, they were proud, each generation that followed seemed to become more interesting and wonderful, this time they had overseen some extreme potential, of herd leaders, wise attributes to influence others and soquili which would also make a sudden difference in many lives.
Under one of the snow covered evergreens a small, pure white filly laid, sleeping peacefully, her overly large angelic wings tucked in gently, comforting her in warmth like a shield of the icy chill that crawled along your skin freely with no current boundaries. Batting two sleepy eye lids, she slowly adjusted to the brightness of the midday light, yawning and out stretching stiffened limbs whilst pulling herself again to her feet, whilst doing so she knocked a large shelf of gathered snow, falling atop of her, causing the little Angeni to peer through the wet lump, now stored upon her head. It caused her to chuckle surprised, forgetting she had fallen asleep under the watchful tree.
A cold haunting shiver sprinted across Taharial's spine it caused her large onyx pools to narrow and slip along the scenery curiously, it was a feeling like no other, something she hadn't felt before now, so cold but unique it had even stopped her tracks... A brief moment passed for her thoughts to be contemplated, she kept the feeling in mind but felt no need to continue dwelling upon it as of right now there was nothing threatening around her and the day was quiet with the whistling tune of a gusty wind soaring across the lands;thirst had jumped to her throat, now signaling the need for a drink, she hadn't focused on her needs so much - wanting to explore and leaving anything else to the last minute unless it was food to fuel her increasing energy. Once nearing the thin frosted lake, a glacier shine spread vastly along it and she knew at instant what was wrong, with a confused shake, she lowered her head sniffing at the ice wondering if she were to hoof at the ice would it eventually shatter? Enough for a short drink. Again, the previous feeling presently stronger at the moment caused the small wings by her ears flutter along with the swaying tree's and her eyes to focus on the dark surrounding forest.
Was... Someone there?

There was always someone there amongst the shadows. What a relief this frozen hell had brought his sensitive systems, choking the sun with frozen fingers until its searing warmth no longer made to scorch his broad back. The ivory beast had learned from a young age that the light was his enemy, and only if he submerged himself in darkness could he be truly content. But this, this bitter, biting cold allowed him to roam freely among the forest. He'd risked a glance at the smothered orb in the sky above, only to find that while the warmth had faded, the light was intense as ever. Unbidden, his eyes began to weep, and the sanguine streaks of blood slowly made to trickle down his pale cheeks. He blinked rapidly and gave his head a shake, his stride unwavering despite his now-impaired vision. The streaks of swirling colors would soon fade, as they always did... He just needed to stick to the shadows. Powdered snow crunched softly and dispersed underneath his hooves, announcing his arrival to those with keen ears and wary dispositions. The smog made to welcome him, caressing his sides with writhing tendrils and musing with his ragged mane. The stallion was unconcerned as the substance began to thicken and take shape, finding himself soon eye-to-eye with a ghoul right out of Hell. The jawless spirit bore its cruel fangs in a silent scream, horned head tilting so its baleful gaze could better trap the stoic stallion. "I know, Verin." The baritone rumble was surprisingly smooth, and Ornias continued to move forward. "Introduce yourself." The thought earned a low chuckle from the unicorn, and the corners of his lips curled upward in a spiteful grin. "Go." With a hushed, lilting moan, the ghost vanished back into the mist, winding its way towards the lake. It had watched the young filly for some time, curious, vengeful, and hungry as always. It wanted her fear. Like some silent serpent, Verin glided soundlessly towards the child from behind. It was all too easy to arch himself over her pale body, twisting around to hover quietly next to the side of her face, near one of those dark eyes. The ghoul then twisted its mutated visage to take her in too, a smoldering orb pinning her with seeming curiosity. It was then that the wraith let its not-jaws fall open wide, gushing forth smoky screams laced with an orange glow. With another howl, the creature shot at the filly's face, snapping at her scarred muzzle with fangs that could inflict no damage before it took about to circling her head with wailing shrieks and gnashing jaws. Ornias shifted his way out from the cover of the trees, observing the scene with little more than an amused glance. It never struck him to 'save' the poor girl--Verin was just having a good time. And when the spirit was happy, Ornais always felt the same.

For a short while, pondering thoughts coiled around her curious mind, letting numerous brief idea's attach and slink through her sticky gaze printed forth along the icy frozen path before her. Sounds whisked throughout her delicate flickering ears and she stepped back, not in fear but in a safe stance to at least make out where and what they were coming from. Crunching, light whispers and tainted fog scattered along the lands and with deep instinct she wondered, more and more what was there again it seemed to focus among her thoughts and actions, was that possible? Still fear never once swooned her, but bit her with more quick glances, slow movements; at last she decided to not pay attention when nothing arrived into her sight, slipping it back towards the still, stubborn lake and it made her cast a small smile knowing all too well how nature in its discrete ways liked to work.
Forking at it, blue slush formed frosting the tip of her tiny hooves causing her to tilt her head problematic with this situation, unknown to her devious eyes casted solely upon her, with a smooth gaze they grasped upon the devilish fiend causing her to stumble aside in surprise the shrieks and ghoul like screams tearing the insides of her ears, they shot back against her head, making her wince for a time, then slowly her eyes re-opened to the creature still calling out in faint calls. somehow she was more relaxed and slipped her paces gently backwards to observe the black ghostly creature. What was this new creation? It was different to anything she had seen before, her expression lighting up in a strange 'joy' chuckling at her scare. "You scared me then... i'm sorry for jumping like that.. Who might you be?" she asked, speaking in an even tone whilst skipping after it in slow circles, trying to follow its swift movements around her head, it did make her dizzy and the image of a being liked her self popped up like a sliding presentation; pausing she had to look twice to see if it was real or her mind was suddenly playing tricks upon her, a new sight of winter? She wasn't sure all in the last few running events, more questions had sprung than in the past few weeks of her life.
It was real, a tall stallion stood amused bordering the forest, his eyes set upon the two and she looked back at the faded, only to be thought of as a 'myth', then back at the male from afar. He blended perfectly with the snow, pure white, and camouflaged in a graceful snowy glitter. Admiring him, then she looked over the blurry details that were hard to make out from the distance between the two, she wanted a better look but found it rude to just fall into his company, perhaps he liked his space? "Excuse me!?" She called as loud as she could, even then it wasn't as loud, but gentle per usual. She took a moment to step aside the floating skull again being highly fascinated and amused by his company. "Are you with this brilliant creature?" She asked sweetly, patient for a reply as she still tried to play with the devil carved skull.
"I mean no offense..." She whispered, her gaze set upon it, feeling that even the dark smog had emotions of its own liking, maybe creature might not of been the best to describe him as, but she didn't know any other way to go about deducing it, her vocabulary hadn't stretched as far as wisdom was painted yet.

The shade was beset with confusion, veering sharply to avoid the fearless filly when she made to advance. The concept of play was lost to a creature who only knew it as a slower form of torment, the shreds of innocence and purity from her actions only coming off as some sort of threat. A gurgling hiss slipped forth from once-wailing jaws, the menace clear as the spirit ignored the apologetic words tossed its way. Teeth gnashed with utmost frustration, and the ghost howled with rage as it swooped to harry her head once more.
Ornias observed the sight with wavering feelings--half amused with Verin's failure, and half frustrated himself. Were foals naturally so dimwitted? He had never been afraid of Verin as a colt, nor any of his siblings' spirits, but they were different. Most he'd met had never even bothered to stick around; one encounter with Verin had sent them bolting into the underbrush. She caught his gaze unexpectedly, dead and hollow eyes void of any expression he could read. The stallion eyed her silently, musing over the feathered wings attached to her back and skull, the scars that marred the sleek ivory of her tiny body. So young, and already bearing the scars of battle. It was something to note, if anything.
She called to him then, and he idly shifted in place, slanting milky eyes downward to better take her in. "Brilliant?" Ornias mused, a chuckle rumbling in his throat. An indignant snarl sprang from the muted colors of the shade's throat, and it shot forward to jealously entwine itself around the stallion's neck, as though its presence alone could keep the female from speaking. "No. He is with me." And that's how it'd always been. Wherever Ornias went, Verin followed--the two were inseparable. "Offense or not... He doesn't like you." Whether or not the cruelty of the message would impact the smaller made no difference to him. It was simple truth, and plain to see to any who happened to observe.
His interest lost, an ear tipped back as though to listen to the grumbling spirit whom had settled itself within the stringy strands of his mane. Yes, Verin didn't like this one at all, did he? Likely sore from his failed attempt, was all... Ornias chuckled wordlessly to himself again, before again glancing to the winged child. "What are you?" Dead eyes and too many wings... Was this one of the so-called mutants he'd heard so much about?:

Taharial watched confused as the ghostly creature slipped towards her once more, his hiss slithering through her ears which flickered back and forth to the endless wavering sounds. She jerked her head back with a faint neigh as the faded fog shot for her upper half once more, but again it failed and was more of a scare than an actual attack; slowly her eyes slid to pin upon him, her head cocking towards the side in wonder what she had done wrong, if anything at all. A silent aw slipped through her lips as the creature swam and coiled around the ivory figures neck.
All thought of thirst had descended from her mind and was now of no concern, what had taken her interest was the new approached Stallion and his friend which looked rather attached to him. She moved forwards slightly, her head bobbing up and down as she walked, the short mane flicking aside and into her onyx eyes, even though it was appeared as just two endless black holes, there was however a small dim shine as rare as it was, it happened but only within a seconds glance in certain brightness of light. She came closer, his appearance more visible than before, the ghost like creature not so much in vision but only vaguely hidden away in his long black mane.
she heard him utter some words and watched him in surprise until now he had appeared silent. "oh he is with you, how lucky" she chuckled, feeling more relaxed then the few words lingered. 'he doesn't like you' Taharial stared at him fr a few moments, a small smile on her muzzle and she chuckled again lightly. "thats ok. Just to see something like him is an amazing thing, right?" she asked as in for re-assurance, she thought so at least , her eyes taking upon the stealthy skull before rising to the Stallions gaze.
"What am I?" she repeated dumbfound, she was like him, a soquili however with few exceptions, she found it odd being asked that question but laughed lightly, her smile more joyful. "well I have been told I am an Angeni, a child from those who descended from the heavens. These wings mark that trait and my name also has a similar meaning, although I wouldn't know.. Yet" She walked up closer to him and lowered her head to peer up t him, walking aside to eye his appearance more closely before skipping her hooves by each other and rounding a last skip to the front of him again. "Your coat is so silky and shiny." She chuckled, tilting her head.
"My name is Taharial... May I ask of yours?" she watched him hoping she wasn't intruding is space in any way. With ears perked she then asked something she had been curious since the outstanding features of this male had been defined clearer. "how come you have a horn... Your tail is also different." It was a mystery since she hadn't been graced with such things, she admired them because they were different but said nothing more in wait how this male would react.

Again he was struck by her naivety, taking her in with a slow, thoughtful stare while the shade against his neck moaned softly in disapproval. She seemed little phased by Verin's blatant dislike of her, and he had to wonder why she would think him little less than a monstrosity. Of course, he understood the spirit, better than any other living creature, but he knew this tiny filly could not. No other Soquili could, save perhaps his siblings and his mother. And even then... he was better than they were. "You have a funny way of looking at curses." Ornias remarked, both amused and frustrated by the ghost's palpable irritation of being seen as so non-threatening.
"He lusts for little more than your death, your fear... The world is his hunting ground." And who was he to stop him? No, Ornias reveled in the sensation of power, knowing he was more worthy and would be the sole survivor should the world plunge itself into stuttering flames. A mirthless smile was offered back to the filly, peering at her through filthy black locks before he chuckled. "You shouldn't have wandered off by yourself... What will mother and father if you fail to return home?" It wasn't safe in these woods, no... The shade lifted itself like a striking serpent, hissing low between gaping fangs.
Ornias listened quietly to her whimsical description, snorting with disbelief. "That's bold. Tell me then, little angel--do you enjoy watching the world squirm as much as I do? It still cries out with suffering while you frolic about in the snow." He grinned to himself a little at that, struck by the irony of the situation. What a world this was! Sensing his approval, Verin reluctantly settled against his broad shoulders to eye the filly balefully.
The comments on his coat were ignored, and the stallion did little more to idly twist his neck to watch as she pranced around him. He could feel the spirit practically quivering with rage before he finally erupted into a howl and rushed at her face again, attempting to drive her off with ghostly fangs and loud shrieks alone. Such a temper! Who knew Verin would work himself into such a tizzy when faced with little threat? It was something he stored in his mind for later, smirking slightly when the ghost eventually calmed and took to sulking in his mane once more.
"You don't need to know my name." He said idly, his tail flicking with dismissal. "But you'd be wise to keep yourself a little more guarded, Taharial... Demons enjoy a struggle before the inevitable." What fun was it when she offered herself up so freely? "My lineage." Came the next reply. "But that matters little, as well. Should I bear wings and teeth, would you sweetly ask where I'd gotten them while I tore out your throat...? Accept what is." He began to move then, seeing no need to linger as he approached the frozen surface of the lake. He'd originally come here to quench his first, after all, before such a delicious opportunity had presented itself.

The filly froze at another distant threat of the ghostly creature. With no idea how she was such a threat to him the filly watched cluelessly, letting the wind throw sorrow through her flickerinmg ears. She watched him, what he spouted she took note of but merely overlooked it as just anothers words. With a light chukle and an endearing smile -she admired his ability to speak freely. "what good would it be to cause anothers pain if there was nothing for you in return? What you speak of isn't the kindest but I know its in your heart. Everyone has a heart sometimes its mislead" her tail flickered back and forth. If she was afraid she would have run, but truthly, did the angel really know how to be scared in the first place?
"sorrow is something others might make for themselves because of what they have been through or what they know. Its all about learning but as i said, views can be changed but a person doesnt have to change...?" tilting her head she stepped back as he began to move forward. he was going to the lake? Maybe now she could get a drink, the ice was too strong for just little her to break. This poor male, how did one come to see the world in such a shade o darkness? He wasnt dark if so wouldnt he of done what was needed to by now, then again as a filly she was simply learning herself. The white ground caught her attention and a much happier smile came onto her features as she skipped after him.
She was going to learn more about him! It was decided and maybe they could both learn something new out of it. Mother and Father would be worried if she never returned but something told her, he wouldn't. Or if he did, shed still be drawn to him, in a need to help.
