The days were growing shorter and the slight crispness had entered the air as Apollo wandered the park that fine, fine evening. Eyes somewhat closed, even in the dusk and the sun had hidden itself behind the surrounding and most the human population had surely rushed home to be with their families leaving the night for the cats. Walking through the center of the grassy park, one that was littered with the fallen leaves of the parks trees, Apollo found this time of year quite fantastic.

"Ah, evening." Apollo smiled looking up at the trees that shifted with the smallest of winds. "Always the best time of the day."

Shaking out his long white fur, the small silver bell on his collar tinkling merrily in the motion. Siting his haunches in the cool grass, he watched the colors change in the skies, from golds, to oranges and even purples, already the stars started to wink into existence. Closing his silver eyes completely now, he relied on his ears to tell him what was going on, it seemed that he mainly relied on his ears. His eyes always closed, nearly useless, but Apollo was a survivor and always will be. Ears twitching he listened to see whom else was around... If anyone.

A little manx cat wandered out from under a bush, dragging with her a small bird she had caught. She was slowly getting better at this, though it still terribly wore her out and she still longed for a human just to take her in and keep her. She didn't understand why the didn't, it wasn't far to her.

She tore at the feathers attached to the frail little wings of the bird. In the middle of crunching down she turned her pale green eye over to spot the Turkish Angora just sitting there twitching his ears this way and that. Intriguing as he was she was going to eat this bird, it had been a full day since she had eaten anything because she had been shooed out of the market by a small gang of larger cats.

Hikari satisfied herself with adjusting herself around so that she could eat her bird and watch the strange cat, once she had devoured the mass majority of the bird she eyed it a little then picked it and up and walked over to the strange cat. "Excuse me." she said in a curious sort of voice, why were his eyes closed? "I caught this bird and well, there's still a fair amount left if you would like it." she said. She had no favor in keeping something she had killed and eating it the next day. The thought of it seemed to disgusted her.

An ear twitched off toward the sounds of a bush rustling as something came out of it. Though he didn't really turn his head toward the sound and see what was going on. The soft crunching of bones were picked up, though were easily gone as a soft wind blew over rustling the branches. Though when something came over to him, now his eyes opened a little, letting the silver show past his eyelids. It was a female a little manx at that with interesting colors. Very different from his own pure white self, and was a pain to keep clean.

Eyes opening a bit wider, he looked at her as she dragged the bird over to him and asked if he wanted it. Surely she could have kept it for herself, right? But he wasn't about to tell her to keep it for later, after all, it wasn't everyday that he was asked if he wanted something to eat since he left his own warm home for the outside world. Head tilting to one side, his ears listening. His mind contemplating on whether or not he should take what was left of the bird or not.

"Thanks, but wouldn't you like to keep it for yourself?" he asked, head tilting the other way causing the bell chime softly. "But I will take it if you don't want it, I won't argue about a free meal. Seems they are far and few between when those larger wish us to not have food."

Bending over he took hold of the bird and pulling it over to him. Crouching down and placing his paws on either side of the bird remains and started eating. Blood covered his white muzzle as he finished up the bird and his tongue did the best it could to clean the fur. He figured that time would wear the rest away. That really hit the spot, not that he hadn't begged a small meal off a human earlier, but that was gone by now.

"Nice evening ain't it?" he asked quite openly looking up at the skies as they still changed to a darker blue, to near black.

Venus had been living in an old box in a market place alleyway, but the recent rain had destroyed it. 'It's time to find a new place'
She had heard about the park, that it was pretty safe but there were some mean cats to watch out for, 'Never know till I go on my own I suppose.'

Tonight was the night she had decided to explore it. She had been following one of the human made paths that the humans run on "This thing just goes in a circle, what are those silly creatures thinking making a path like that." She sighed and moved off of it when something bright white against the darkening surroundings caught her eye. She moved closer slowly, noticing that that there was two cats. She had regretted her move closer when she noticed both cats had blood on there face.....and one had no tail. "Oh my, oh my!" she whispered to herself. She crouched down and tried to slink stealthily to the nearby bushes hoping she would go unnoticed....hoping that they would not attack her.

Hikari only shook her head. "No, I can find other meals. Please take it, I wouldn't feel right putting that away for me to forget it and it go to waste, I would feel terrible." she said and then sat back as the white cat accepted the food and ate. She began her grooming cleaning behind her ears, the blood from her mouth and in between her little toes.

She looked out to the sky when the cat had mentioned what a pretty night it was...she was a little confused by this. How could he know if he kept his eyes shut like he did. "Yes, I guess it is a pretty night. It's too bad all the fight flies have gone though, they were fun to chase." she sighed, the little bug had taken her by surprise but she had loved the short time they had been around. But with the cooling weather they had disappeared over the last few days.

She looked around looking about the plush area that she had never really explored. The park was quite beautiful, she had seen places like this when she had been in her crate or in a car before but never up close. The smells were so vibrant, almost stinging her nose. That's when she caught the flicker of gold fur and tilted her head. "Is someone there?" she called sitting up properly, her little nub wiggling.

Apollo nodded to what the other cat had to say about feeling bad about forgetting where one had left the left overs. It was true that it was a bad thing to let good food go to waste. Turning his head toward the sounds of something slinking through the grass, his head tilted, eyes closed again relying on only his hearing and sense of smell. Something else was there, another cat perhaps.

"Hello?" he echoed the female's question of someone being there.

Lapping at a paw, he rubbed his paw over his white face trying to clean the blood from his muzzle. Fading it to a light pinkish color, maybe it would have been more sightly? It wasn't like the blood was from another cat, Sitting himself up, his white fluffy tail wrapping around his paws, Apollo waited to see if someone else was going to come and join in the conversation. He could only hope so.

"By the way, My name's Apollo. What might yours be?" he asked the cat that was sitting close to him. "Sorry for not having said it sooner." A faint blush had come to his face, but the darkness covered it up so it wasn't really noticeable and was cleared quickly.

Hikari pawed at her ear a little. "Apollo...interesting name. My name is Hikari, I'm still kinda new to being a stray cat, I'm slowly getting used to it though." she said looking up at him.

Apollo's habit of keeping his eyes closed like he was, was giving Hikari a squeamish feeling in her stomach, what was up with this cat that he kept his eyes closed and didn't really look at anything. She's never seen a cat who didn't rely on their eyesight, something that she knew for a fact that cats were known for.

Hikari figured it was better not to dwell on Apollo's oddity and continue with the conversation. "So how long have you been a stray, or do you have a home and your family lets you out?" she asked quit intrigued. She had crossed paths with a few cats like this.

"A pleasure to meet you Hikari." He smiled briefly though his head tilted to one side as something seemed to not seem right to him, but he shrugged it off. "I've only been out here a for a few days. Maybe a week. I'm still getting used to this whole stray thing."

Turning his head a little, Apollo's eyes opened a bit so that he could look around, it just wasn't much. Soon he looked to Hikari looking her over, noticing that she didn't really have a tail. Not like his own fluffy one that was currently wrapped around his paws keeping them somewhat warm in the cooling air. Ears pivoting on his head he wondered if that other figure had would come out to greet them, if they were still around that is.

"Seems that summer is nearly done and autumn is coming." Apollo said more to himself then anyone else. "Soon the leaves will be falling. I hear those are fun to chase and try to catch before they fall to the ground."

Hikari nodded in return then thought about the motion and spoke instead. "Nice to meet you as well. Yeah, I've been out for a little over a month I think and I still haven't quite gotten the hang of it yet." she said with a slight shrug of her shoulders.

Hikari's eyes still kept search for whatever she had heard, maybe it had just been her imagination, or a bird on the ground. Who knew, and she wasn't to leave behind a decent conversation to go search it out, there would be plenty of time for that later.

Hikari agreed with Apollo, she had never really seen the winter months before, nor really seen the leaves change and fall. What little she had seen of it had never shown her much. "It'll be my first real view of the changing of the leaves, but I'm a little nervous about the snow." she said shivering. Thought of getting freezing cold and soaking wet in the process just did not sound appealing, at least to her that was.

Venus froze in her tracts when they had called out to her,not daring to make a sound, She just clung to the ground and listened to there conversation. 'If I move they may chase, best to try and just not be noticed' Of course it is hard to blend in to the dreary darkness when you fur is so shiny and golden --so she stood out like a sore thumb.

There conversation seemed harmless enough, 'mean cats wouldn't be discussing leaves falling would they?' And they had both managed to clean most of the blood from there fur so they didn't look nearly as scary as they had at first glance. With her mind eased a bit she mustered up a bit of courage and decided to approach.

She stood up tall and proud, like she had been taught to stand in all the cat shows she had won. 'First impressions are important.' "Greetings, I am Venus" She said with a purr in her voice as she slinked over to them.

Gave a small smile at the thought of the leaves as they changed and drifted to the ground here and there. Ears twitching again his head turned toward the new face that was coming out of the bushes. But his attention was still mainly on Hiraki.

"I've still got a lot to learn about being out here. I met a cat named Roxy whom says I might not have what it takes to be out here." He shrugged lightly. "I think I can learn to be a stray, just have to shed off what I know about being a house cat." He grinned again before turning back to Venus whom had come closer to them. "Evening Venus." Apollo nodded. "I'm Apollo, a new cat to this life without a home."

Scratched behind an ear, the small bell on his collar chimed softly. letting the ear flick a couple times before placing his paw back to the ground and his fluffy tail wrapping once more about them. The tip twitched every now and again, his eyes had apparently closed themselves once more. Tired of being open though there was not greater sense then the sense of hearing which could just about hear anything and everything.

Hikari's attention was distracted by the forthcoming of the golden cat, she tilted her head and pushed out her ears. "Evening Venus." she said in a cool voice. She knew this breed, there weren't too many she wasn't aware of being an ex-show cat after all.

She looked back to Apollo, "Roxy, I don't think I've met her. But I don't see why you can make it out here. I mean I came from a pampered home where everything I could have dreamed of was given to me. I used to be a show kitten, I won lots of ribbons too. But now I'm out here and it's really not so bad as I thought it would be." she said looking around her again, the park was so peaceful, so calm.

Hikari once again grew distracted by the jingle of Apollo's bell and then pawed at her own. She knew she had to ditch her collar sooner or later, but when she did so she was going to keep the bell on hand. It was sort of comforting to her, in a strange sort of way.

Venus stood close to he two cats ready to run if the need arose, however they did not seem to mind her presents. "Apollo? Your owner must have liked mythology also. He was the god of the sun right? My owner loved mythology and folklore. She used to tell me stories before we went to sleep at night." She sighed remembering her former owner. Venus was still getting used to moving about at night, she had always slept on a pillow by her human before.
Venus ran her golden eyes over the two cats in front of her while they talked to each other. 'Both are pure bloods, unlike some of the riff raff I've seen.' then she took a closer look at Hikari, "I'm sorry I must have missed your name, however you look familiar to me. OH! you wow best of breed at the big show a few months ago, didn't you? You were in fine form my human said. I never thought I'd see a familiar face out here"

Listening to the two talk about being show cats, he was just a house cat. One that laid around the house and watching the sun ride and set from his window seat. One that he wished he still had out here, but didn't have much of a place to put it. Though he did remember his human watching cat shows and telling him that she wished that she could have entered him, but he was only bred to be her beauty. Not the world's.

"Show cats?" his head tilted a little to one side. "I remember watching cat shows on the tv. She wished that she could have entered me into a cat show, but I was just her pet. Not really bred for show."

Turning his head away some he had to muse over Venus's reaction to his name. His owner did have a fascination of myths and legends. That part was true, but he never really understood her most the time. Standing onto his hind legs for a moment he flopped backwards to lay on his back, paws pulled in.

"I suppose it is the name of a god, I don't really remember." He mused as his fluffy tail twitch on the ground before laying at his side. 'If our humans ever had me, I think they would have been good friends."

"Purrrhaps we could be good friends, I'm in need of friends, I met Schmee and she is nice enough to help me get food, but I don't think she likes me to much, She said I'm too high maintenance to live outside on my own, but I've been out for well over a month now, and I'm doing just peachy." Venus said while trying to clean the dirt from her nails. "It's so so bad, in the Cat Shows I would spend most of the day in a cage with hundreds of those load silly creatures staring at me and cooing like I was a baby." She said with a hit of sadness in her voice. "But I must admit, it was an easy life, my human companion did love me...." she trailed off "Oh well, that is the past, this is my life now."
