It was a beautiful autumn day and the cubs were out playing near the den. Their mother was watching over them, but two in particular managed to sneak away a bit farther than their siblings. Twins. They were nothing but trouble.
Amanzi giggled and the smirk on her face increased. Her brother had no idea what was about to hit him--or who, rather. Her bottom wiggled up in the air, hind legs tensed for the perfect moment of pouncing. Her front paws kneaded the soft sandy dirt.
Softly, slowly, she made her way closer and closer, peering around the tall grasses and eyeing her target with bright blue eyes. She let a small giggle escape her throat, but she quickly moved again, this time ducking and lowering herself even farther down behind the grasses than before.

Takuma was barely more than a week old, but already he was a bundle of trouble, leaping about everywhere and keeping his mother on her feet. And of course, what was worse, was that he wasn't the only one. Twins could be a joy to the world, but they could also mean a whole lot of toruble for their mother. Taku and Zizi were most certainly the latter.
Takuma was rolling around in the sparse, thin grass not too far from where his sister was crouching, enjoying the feeling of the warm sun on his fur. Taku had no idea of what his sister was planning, as his blue eyes twinkled in the sun, the cub rolling over onto his paws, pushing himself to his feet with a flick of his tail. Glancing around, his expression turned to one of mild confusion.
"Zizi? Where've you gooone?"

She rolled her eyes at the nickname. Ever since they were little, he had latched onto the last syllable of her name, doubled it, and had called her 'Zizi.' She wouldn't be surprised if that had been his first word, or one of them any way. Even though they were both incredibly young, their love for the outdoors and troublemaking were so high...
Amanzi didn't answer her twin's call; instead, she crouched even lower to the ground (if that was even possible) and pushed up with a roar, flying through the air and finally tackling her twin to the ground.
Her weight rolled her, and she didn't let go of him, so they rolled together on down the flat surface of the dirt path, tumbling and grunting with limbs flying every which way.
Finally they bounced up against a rock, with Amanzi on top. Her grin was as wide as could be.
"Pinned ya!"

Taku was starting to get worried. Not as much for him sister as he was for himself, though. If he went back and told their mother that he'd lost Zizi, she'd get angry at him! He was the oldest - as he enjoyed telling his sister at least three times a day - and he was the boy, so he was supposed to look after her! A yelp escaped from the male as he heard a roar, skidding round just in time to see a large brown lump of fur come crashing down on top of him, sending him and the lump rolling across the dirt until they struck a rock.
Dis-orientated, it took Takuma a few moments to clear his head and focus his vision, though as soon as he spotted his sister - and on top of him no less - he growled, beginning to struggle.
"Hey! No fair! I wasn't ready!!"
He struggled against his sister, attempting to shove her off, but to no avail. So instead, he resorted to playing dirty - unsheathing his claws, he dug them lightly into his sister's paws. He wasn't aiming to hurt her. Just to...make her uncomfortable enough to let him up.

Amanzi laughed loudly and with a child's innocence. Or at least as much innocence as she could muster. It was hard to stay so child-like and sweet when you were a twin, and your other half was just as bad as you were. So you couldn't really blame the cub for acting the way she did, most of the time.
"Ha, you weren't supposed to be ready. It was a surprise, silly!" she said, moments before his claws lightly dug into her paws.
She yelped in surprised pain, skittering back to sit and lick at her paws a good, safe distance away from her brother. Her eyes narrowed into a glare as she tended to her small wounds.
"That wasn't fair. That hurt, Taku," she grumbled out, turning around so that her back faced him in order for her to sulk. Maybe his guilt would be too much and she'd finally hear an apology come out of that smart mouth of his. It would be so worth it.
And she wasn't really lying. It had hurt. Claws were sharp. Which is why their mother didn't like them roughhousing with claws out, or anything sharp like that. It made sense. But Taku had a habit for breaking rules, and as much as Zi wanted to join him on those adventures, it wasn't so much fun when she was the one getting hurt.

Taku flashed a mischievous grin at his twin sister's yelp, although a little part of him tucked away in the back of his mind felt guilty. However, this small part of his mind was far overruled by the rest, which was the part that had him rolling on the ground, giggling. He knew he hadn't applied enough pressure to do anything more than sting, and his sister was just being a wuss. Whilst Amanzi was loads of fun to be around sometimes, she did have her girly moments.
"Geeez, Zizi! I didn't scratch you that hard! Stop being such a girl!"
He meant the comment as an insult, but being only a cub he didn't realize that it could be taken as a neutral comment - neither insult nor compliment. As he realized his sister was actually sulking, Taku began to sulk also. It was no fun when they fought! Pushing himself to his feet and padding forwards, he brought himself up beside his sister, nuzzling his nose fondly into the ruff of fur around her neck. He did genuinely care for her.
"Okaaaaaay, I'm sorry? Can we play some more now?"
Yeah, he had to work on his apologies.

She whipped her head around and glared at him, even though the pain from his claws had already dissipated into a little sting, and even that wasn't as bad as she thought it would be. Amanzi wasn't just being girly, either. Sometimes her brother didn't know when to stop. Meanie.
"You did too," she mumbled, although she raised a paw to slap at his arm with.
But she couldn't help the small smile that curled up on her face when she felt him nuzzle into her fur. She was just being difficult. It was fun to tease him to the point of pure frustration...and then she'd let him off the hook. Her smile widened. It was just something she did. And he didn't really seem to mind; in fact, he seemed to forget it happened pretty quickly.
"I forgive you. Okay, we can keep playing." With a giggle and a smirk she turned around all the way and clasped him in a split-second hug, but then let go and galloped away, laughing. Hide and seek was always a good game. Or tag.

Takuma gave his sister a wide grin, nuzzling and hugging her back during the split-second embrace, before stumbling backwards in surprise as she raced off. She could be really fast what she wanted to be.
"Hey! No fair!" exclaimed the cub, thought he began to race after his sister with giggles and laughs, glad that they were playing again. He actually hadn't meant to hurt her, and he knew she was being silly. But he didn't mind as much with Amanzi. Any other of his sisters he'd storm off in a sulk - but not Amanzi. Never Amanzi.
Her head start had been a rather large one, and Taku was struggling to catch up, even though he was running as fast as his little legs could manage. And so, the twin began to hatch a cunning plan. Twisting his paw a little, he gave a cry as he pretended to stumble over a rock, toppling forwards onto his head (which actually did hurt a little) and onto his back, yelping loudly.
"Ow ow OW!"

Amanzi raced off, giggling, pausing every now and then to twist her head back and watch her brother try to catch up with her. The only chance she would ever have at beating Taku at a race would be by getting a head start somehow, just like she just did. And now with that extra push going for her, there was no way she would stop now.
"C'mon, slow poke!" she yelled to him over her shoulder behind her with a laugh, not stopping to look back..
But when she heard him cry out in pain, she did stop and turn around. She watched with wide eyes as he tripped over something and land on his head. With a gasp she raced towards him and tried to nuzzle around him, hoping to find which spot hurt.
"Taku, you okay? What happened? Taku?" She gently poked and prodded, turning him over as best as she could so that he laid on his back, facing up and towards her. She had no idea that this was a trick; she was genuinely concerned for her brother.

Taku allowed himself to lie there, actually a little dazed, but a sly grin crept up his maw as he noticed his sister instantly stopping, racing back to check if he was alright. he wiped the grin off of his face, moaning as he rolled over onto his stomach, moaning and groaning loudly about how everything hurt.
"Even my fur huuuurts..." he moaned, sky-blue eyes watching carefully as his sister came closer and closer, not yet quite close enough but very, very soon... She approached, prodding him onto his back, to which he moaned loudly, before suddenly leaping up with a roar (or the best he could do), tapping the top of her head.
"TAG! HA!"
And already he was off again, racing lazily and clusmily over the dry terrain.

He totally had her completely and utterly fooled. She gently inspected said fur that was hurting (though why fur would hurt, out of all things, she had no idea) and turned him this way and that. When Taku was hurt, he was so easy to manipulate physically. You nudged him and he rolled completely over. He was so limp. It was hilarious most of the time. But she was worried now, because she genuinely thought he was hurt.
"Now, how could your fur--ahhh!" Right in the middle of her sentence, he jumped up with a roar (which was pretty loud, considering her ears had been RIGHT THERE and she kind of needed them for future use) and bopped her on the head, racing off so that she was now It. Disbelieving, Amanzi could only blink for a moment, replaying it out in her head. Then it clicked.
"Woah, woah! Cheater!" she yelled after him, racing as fast as her legs could go in hopes of catching up to him. He could run so fast; it wasn't fair at all! And then he had gone and tricked her...what a low, low blow. He would not be able to escape very well this time, that was a promise.

Taku giggled and laughed, perhaps a little manically, as he sped away from his sister, even bounding around a little, as if to tease the fact that he'd fooled her and she was now 'it'. Bouncing around, he giggled, tail flashing in all directions, sky-blue eyes twinkling in glee.
"Haha, you falled for it! Silly Zizi! Guillible Zizi!"
He did love his sister - honest. But teasing her was just too much fun sometimes.

She couldn't believe that he had tricked her like that. SO unfair. So unfair. He was gonna pay for that one, oh, was he gonna pay.
"I'm not silly! Not gullible, either!" she hollered back at him, trying to increase her pace to as fast as she could go. Which she already was. But she had to catch up to him! Every time he did a little dance, or stopped to tease her about his lead in the race, she jumped a little bit in hopes of gaining more ground. She could tell that she was gaining on him, but then he would start running again and she'd lose him.
However, all this running was making her tired. She was panting pretty badly, and hard. Amanzi knew she would have to stop soon or collapse from exhaustion and heat. She began to slow down, tongue lolling out of the side of her mouth.

Taku turned to watch his sister as he ran, giggling and laughing a little madly as he bounced around, tail wagging, with the occasional stop to wiggle his bum teasingly. He loved teasing his sister. "Yes you aaaaaare! Yes you aaaaare!"
He sang the words in a sing-song voice, though his tongue also began to loll out of his mouth as he tired quickly, slowing gradually until he came to a complete stop, flopping onto the ground and panting, chest heaving.
"I'm tiiiiired."

Amanzi couldn't glare harder at her brother. But she couldn't help the little giggles that escaped her when he wiggled his bottom at her, stopping for a second or two and then racing off again. She began to lose her footing, giggling as hard as she was.
"No 'm not." Soon she caught up with him, trotting at an easy pace although her tongue flopped in time with her steps and she was panting heavily. She approached him and slipped down to lay beside him, her feet at her his head and her head at his feet. She could only nod in agreement as they took a little rest.
