The ocean...Ekun couldn't help but stare in awe at it. It...it was beautiful, wonderful, and gorgeous. The juvenile just sat on the sandy beach for a while, mesmerized by the waves, the play of light on the water...
And then she rushed forward to play in the shallows were the water only reached just above her paws. She HAD to thank her mother for bringing them to the ocean for the first time ever. To think she'd been missing out on this for her entire life! The dark cub giggled and pranced, keeping an ear out for danger. Though something about the shining waters just...made it hard to picture someone wanting to hurt another here.

Stepping over a sand dune, her paws sinking into the loose warm sands, she wasn’t complaining about the shore trek because it was all her cubs knew. She had taken the lead in this trek down the shore to find a new life. The first time they were looking for a home, Kam had pretty much been the leader, this time she had taken the lead. Being a mother, changes how one looks at leading. She couldn't help want to be first, to see the trouble before it appears.
The juvenile playing in the waves brought an instant smile to her, this looks exactly like how her own cubs acted when they first saw the ocean. Looking around, she couldn't see an adult around, but it was likely her mother might be nearby. Knowing her own cubs, she asked them to stay behind with Uncle Jethro before starting forward. At several paces away, more than enough space for the cub to get away if she felt scared and more than enough for a mother to jump between them without having to have fighting contact.
"The ocean is beautiful, how is the water?" It would be a shame to ruin the cub's fun, but if she was alone, there was no way the mother in her could walk away. With a warm smile, and a easy posture, she watched the young, adorable little lion cub and waited.

Kamaria had always played the role of leader for her growing family and while it forced her to take on a surplus of important responsibilities, she had enjoyed that position. Upon hearing the news from the King, however, the lioness was not quite feeling like herself. Watching Senatla step up and continue on was inspirational. She was surprised at how eager and dedicated her sister was. Senatla was not willing to give up on Kam and that was what helped the spotted female keep moving.
As they continued along the beach, Kamaria looked lazily towards the coves and watched the waves with bitter jealousy. The Bahari had been her home for so long it was difficult to think she could find something else.
Kamaria had seemed to go into an upsetting trance of self doubt and worry when the group suddenly stopped. Her sister's voice reached her ears before the splashing and happy giggles from the dark cub playing in the water. Glancing over, Kamaria smiled faintly, her ears lowered as though to portray her internal emotions. "I remember the first time I saw the ocean.." Kamaria's voice was quiet and she wasn't speaking to anyone in particular.

Ekun squeaked and stopped, eyes wide and ears back. She'd been caught off guard again! No good! No good at all! But...whoever they were, they were keeping their distance. Ekun couldn't help but admire the two lionesses not...too far from her. The last lioness besides her Mama she'd seen had been the one that healed her wounds when she was still a cub.
One was bigger than the other...but they were both beautiful. "I uh...Yeah...It's really pretty." She smiled, relaxing a little. "The water's colder than I'm used to...but it feels and smells nice."

Focused on the cub in front, and looking for her mother, Senatla nearly missed her own sister's comment. She couldn't turn to look at her yet, but she remembered as well. It was a lot of fun to play in the waves, something she hadn't done the time they returned. Being a mother meant you couldn't be a cub anymore, as far as she figured.
The cub's reaction was very telling, no mother came running out and she had obviously hadn't been paying attention to her surroundings. It concerned her, a cub apparently all alone. She should be allowed to be carefree, not having to stay too attentive to everything around her that might harm her.
Keeping her smile, and her distance for now, she remarked, "There is nothing quite like the ocean." Now how to approach the cub herself, taking a deep sniff of the salty air, she gave herself the moments needed before she stepped forward, to test if the cub would allow them close and then asked, "Would you mind if we joined you here for a little while, my family and I have been traveling a distance, and there is hardly a more relaxing place then the ocean with company." Looking for signs of hunger, the mother in her pushed her concerns to the cub's eating, was she able to hunt for herself? Well, if the cub allowed, they could stay around and someone could go and get a nice kill, make sure the little stomach is full and happy.
If the cub had no family, they might even be able to convince her to travel with them. There is strength in numbers, and security that a lone cub couldn't get on their own.

Kamaria remained behind her larger sister, eyes curiously peering out towards Ekun. When the cub began to stutter an awkward response, the lioness' grim expression warmed up. The cub seemed surprised by their appearance and Kamaria would be too if she had been playing absentmindedly and a couple adults approached without word.
When Senatla continued towards the cub, Kamaria knew exactly what was on her mind. While she had not noticed it at first, the spotted female quickly paid mind to the fact that the cub's mother was nowhere to be seen. Since Senatla had her first litter, the young female's motherly instincts seemed to be kicked into full gear. Kamaria simply listened as her sister questioned the cub gently. She was very careful about her words and the slow manner in which she approached. Senatla had matured so much, Kamaria couldn't help but be surprised.
Weary and still feeling rather melancholy, Kamaria awaited Ekun's response before settling down within the sand.

Ekun was still a ittle suspicious...but she shook her head. "I don't mind. Long as you don't try to hurt me. Cause if I yell, Mama will hear me." And her Mama did not take well to those who tried to hurt Ekun and her siblings. "But if you're really nice, I like company. Others to talk to." Maybe...maybe she could find out things from them. Like where they had been, what it had been like...
Her little mind was starting to think of all the possibilities and stories these two might hold.

The young mother looked visibly relieved when Ekun told her that her Mama was close enough to hear if she yelled. While she didn't see any lionesses around, and the salty air dulled her sense of smell a bit, she believed the cub. "You need not worry, young one, my family and I mean you no harm." Moving a little closer, she still stayed some distance from the cub, five feet was her comfort zone for new lions until they crossed the zone in a friendly manner first. She'd meet them half way but the show of being allowed to had to be there.
Something that might coax the cub even more, "Talking to others is one of the best things, I found, of the roguelands, if they are friendly. I have cubs your age with us, some are mine and one is my sister's," Turning her head she nudged her muzzle in her sister's direction, moving over to her to give her a nuzzle to try and comfort her a little. Raising her head again, she looked to the cub and asked her, "Do you know of any prides nearby? We left the Bahari'mtoto in search of a new home." They went by a strange pride of lions that had the most bazaar ideas, the visit was short.

Kamaria's eyes had begun to flutter shut from wearyness when she heard the cub's plea for them not to hurt her. With a pained expression, the spotted female's ears lowered and she shook her head sadly. "It is such a shame that a life as a rogue makes everyone to cautious of one another," She said, rather poetically. Smiling warmly towards Ekun, Kamaria tried to be as comforting as possible, "I could not dream of hurting anyone, let alone a cub. You are safe in our company. We will ensure that nothing happens to you so long as we can help it."
Senatla's response quieted Kamaria down once again and she awaited the conversation to turn to a more friendly tone. Her sister had been satisfied to know that Ekun's mother was around, but Kamaria still retained the idea that they were responsible for the cubs well being until the mother actually showed.
Kamaria enjoyed the switch of leadership between she and her sister. Senatla was growing to become a rather indepedent, strong lioness. It was rewarding to see that their relationship only helped the two of them. While Kamaria enjoyed the ability to simply sit in the background quietly, the storyteller couldn't stay quiet for long. Once Senatla had finished, the spotted lioness had to participate in the conversation. "We may be some of the best lions to speak to! We've seen oceans and jungles and all the interesting creatures that live within them. I remember once when I was traveling in the jungle with Jethro we came across a brightly colored animal that made such a strange noise." Kamaria beamed at the memory with one of her dearest friends. Puffing out her cheeks, Kamaria opened her mouth to imitate the noise, "Riiibbit!"

Ekun relaxed more. Good...they were nice lionesses. That was very good. "It...it wasn't a rogue." Her ears went flat and she looked sad and sheepish all at once. "There's a pride of demons, somewhere out there...and they aren't nice." She smiled sheepishly at them. "I'm getting better...but...well, I'm still kinda...Mama says 'skittish'."
She perked up a bit as the females continued talking. "I...I don't know of many prides. Mama tries to avoid them right now, because there's a lot who don't like visitors." She frowned. "I wish there was one that didn't mind rogues. So we could rest for a while."
The noise the pale lioness made caused Ekun's eyes to widen in amazement. "There's a creature who makes that sound?" She grinned. "Wow! I wouldn't mind seeing it one day!" She giggled. The name Jethro sounded a bit familiar...but she'd worry about it later.

Kamaria's head tilted to the side at the mentioning of demons. She had heard the name before, but always believed it to be a mere story told to children to get to them to hurry into the den at night for sleep. It was possible that what Ekun spoke of was only fear from what he mother might have told her, but by the way she hesitated to explain herself, Kamaria thought there might be some truth in her words. If that were the case, Ekun and her family were not safe traveling the roguelands alone. There was strength in numbers!
As though to solidify her thought, Ekun mentioned wanting a place to rest for awhile. The spotted female glanced back towards her red sister as though for permission and continued on. "Ekun, I can't say what will happen at this point in time, but we too are looking for a safe haven to rest during our travels. We hope to form a place where rogues can stop and be protected when they need it. A pride of sorts...for wanderers." She eyed the cub's response and then glanced back as though looking for her mother again.
"Perhaps it is time we find your mother. It sounds like your family has had a rough travel and it would be the least I could do to provide safety for a good nights rest."
