The park was quiet today. Despite it being sunny and warm, there didn't seem to be a whole lot of other children running around and screaming. Anataela was slightly dissapointed that neither of her two new friends were magically there, but at the same time she was overjoyed that Vienne had assented to take her out to play.

The little chameleon had climbed all the way to the top of the jungle gym, but seemed disinclined to fool around on the slides or monkey bars. Rather, she sat there in her pretty pink dress (it was one of her favorites) and just basked in the warmth. It was so nice to be outside... Ana sat and daydreamed to herself, idly changing the color of her skin for practice. Green melting into orange melting into brown in vivid flashes. Sometimes she even incorporated spots or stripes to show off, even though there wasn't really anybody looking.

Caden's fit of rage had slowed into a plodding gait by the time he reached the park. While there was a lot of strength in him, he was built for fighting, not running, and the hard concrete pounding against his paws for the past block had taken it's toll.

He plopped down on a bench and wiped his sweaty face with his shirt. He was still panting hard and still angry, but he'd run the destruction out of himself. As he stared up at the sky and felt the breeze and the sun drying his fur, he concluded that there was really nothing he could do about that damn Niq.

Ana heard the pattering of paws on pavement vaguely, it trickled through the corners of her mind. Dropping back to her normal green color, she glanced below to where Caden had flopped onto the bench. She didn't know him, she found herself wondering if he was like her... one of the kids who were getting a dragon.

Rolling onto her stomach, her face and shoulders hanging over the edge of the jungle gym, she cradled her chin in her hands and watched him from above, unrolling and re-rolling her tail idly. He was all tawny colored. That wasn't a color she had tried before...

He swiveled an ear towards the sound of movement, head following a moment later. Way up on the top of the jungle gym, there was something pink, very pink. It took him a second to realize that the vivid pink was a dress on an equally vivid girl.

"Hi." he purred, not bothering to get up. He waved an arm at her in a half-hearted sort of way, a sly grin working it's way over his features.

Ana's own grin was open and friendly and slightly curious. "Hi!" She called down to him, waving back. "I'm Ana. Who're you?" She didn't bother to sit up at this point, rather liking being all the way up here like a princess in a tower. Too bad her hair wasn't ten feet long...

"Ca~den" he drawled, drawing out his name in a sing-songy kind of way. He flicked his tail lazily and stretched out on the bench. Being mad was tiring business and now that he was comfortable, he felt rather disinclined to get up. "Wotcha doin' way up there?" he asked, trying to make conversation. She looked friendly enough, in her own brightly colored way and he was in sore need of pleasant company after having his mother stolen away yet again.

"Changing colors" Ana responded, grinning. As an example, she turned a soft tawny brown color that matched Caden's fur. "See? Plus it's warm up here." Kind of. There was more sun to bask in, at least.

"Woaw!"

His eyes widened and he sat up to get a better look. Hadn't she been bright green just a moment ago?! Now she was the same color as him, except for the pink dress. "That's really neat!" he chirped as he hopped down from the bench and walked over to her tower, ears flicking interestedly. "How do you do that?" Now that he was closer, he could see that she was covered in scales instead of fur. Little bits of pink seemed to be leaking from her dress onto her body. "Can you do any other colors?" he asked, thoroughly amazed.

Always eager for flattery, Ana beamed brightly at the praise and sat up, looking down at Caden. "I can do lots of colors. I can do almost any color!" She boasted cheerfully. "See?" And she began running her skin through it's paces, flashing and flowing through color after color like a weird rainbow until finally settling back on her natural green tone.

Caddie probably wouldn't have been able to identify half of the colors he saw. As it was, his vision was already swirling and he blinked hard to try to set it right again. "Well I can-" What could he do? "um..." The little lion trailed off thoughtfully (or not so thoughtfully, depending on how you look at it). He put on a confused expression with his eyebrows furrowed and one ear cocked. The more he pondered the stronger his conclusion. Caden really didn't have anything that could top such an amazing color display. "I can roar." he said finally, after his long period of deliberation.

"Yeah?" Getting to her hands and knees, Ana leaned over the ledge of the platform and grinned down at him. "Can I hear?" She'd shown off her mad skills, she was up for giving someone else a chance.
