Kaydon had prepared quite well for this class. He had drawn a nondescript bone, a flexing arm, and a heart on the board. Basic body systems that would be different for each animal! Suddenly remembering something, he scribbled a strange bean-shaped thing on the board. Hrm!

Nibal glanced at the slip of paper he had once again. This was a new teacher. Even his dad didn't know anything about the guy. Though Nibal didn't know it, the fact that this teacher was male was probably the reason his dad didn't know anything about him. "Well, Kal, what do you think we'll be learning?"
The green gave a sort of grunt. "Yeah, I don't know either." The boy sighed. "Oh, look. Our classroom." He opened the door and peered in, spotting the man that had to be the teacher. "Hi, I'm Nibal." He pushed the door open farther so the green dragon could enter and made his own way in after her. He glanced up at the board, figuring out the first two and glanced at the other two. What could those be?

Kaydon offered his hand, well-prepared and having worn latex gloves. He'd researched each of the children's DNA, just to know what he should look out for. Nibal and some Zach kid were big red flags.
"It's nice to meet you. I'm Mister Daniels. Or Kay, which ever you're more comfortable with."

Nibal grinned and, after checking that the man was protected, shook the hand. It seemed this man had done his homework. "Okay, Kay." He paused and then giggled at the little rhyme he'd just made. "What's that?" He pointed to the heart and the last object on the board.

"A symbol for the circulatory system, of course," Kay said with a little smile, "Something you should be quite familiar with. You can take a seat or drag up a chair, which ever you'd like, but I would like you to take notes."

Nibal scowled at the mention of taking notes, but he grabbed a chair. "Hey Kal, backpack." The green had settled herself on the ground, a backpack clamped in her mouth. She snorted, not really wanting to give it up. "C'mon, Kal..." Finally, the green stood and trotted over to the boy. Nibal grinned and patted her head before pulling out a notebook and pen.
"Circulatory system. Okay."

It appeared the kid wanted to start at the near-end. Alright! That as no problem for him.
"As I'm sure you know, blood is what circulates oxygen and certain nutrients through our bodies. Unfortunately, it can also carry toxins, foreign bodies, and air bubbles. All the the latter can be fatal. Of course, you have the DNA of a poison dart frog, which means you are quite poisonous. You secrete a toxin through your skin that can get into the blood stream through open cuts or mucous membranes, which are like...the mouth, the eyes...all of the slimy places that lead to the inside." Kaydon shifted, perching on the corner of his desk.
"Out in the wild, most poison dart frogs only have enough toxin to taste gross. Being chewed-on doesn't feel so good, I'm sure, so their skin is such a bright color to warn predators, like yours. Some, though, can deliver lethal amounts. You, being so large, are very likely able to kill a human." Thanks to his special vitamins...but it may be best if he didn't mention that to the child himself.

Nibal jotted down notes, glancing up at the teacher for a moment before nodding. "Yeah... I hurt my dad when I was littler. He got sick and had to give himself a shot. He said that I could make others sick like that. There's one girl that I can touch, though. She said she only gets sick after a longer while, not right away..."
The boy glanced at his dragon and grinned. "My dad said she'd be okay, which is nice. I'm glad I can't make her sick."

"That's certainly nice!" Kaydon said, appearing rather happy for the boy, "Now, let's move on to the next subject, hm?" He erased the kidney-bean-shaped picture and the heart and pointed to the flexing arm.
"This...vaguely resembles a muscle." He gave a tiny chuckle.
"Anyway, the only real difference I can think of between human muscle and frog muscle is that frogs' leg muscles pull their legs into a constant shape like...this." He drew something like a one-hundred-and-forty-degree angle.
"They straighten somewhat when they leap, but even dissected frogs' legs stay in such a way. Any questions?"

Nibal wrote more, drawing the picture of the legs just like from the board. "Is that why I'm tall? Cuz my legs aren't like that and are straight instead?" He knew he was tall for his age, towering over several of his classmates. Well, except for Tyven... actually, the more he thought about it, the more they seemed to have in common.

"That's quite possible!" Kaydon nodded, moving to erase the flexing arm from the board, "Of course, you could just be tall for your age naturally. I know I was. Let's assume it's the legs, hm?"
"Now, bones. Again, this is something that does not differ much between your human half and your amphibian half. In fact, if anything, I would expect you to be shorter! Proportionately, our bones are about the same, although different shapes. Frogs, however, are mostly legs and head and only have 9 vertebrae...the little bones that make up your spine? For reference, humans have 24."

More notetaking. Nibal sighed and blinked. "Really...?" He thought for a moment on that. "Odd... So I get a lot of traits from my.. amph-whatever side, but keep some from my human side too? Cool." He grinned, thinking on a few of those frog traits that he had. Ah, his skills classes had been fun.
