Riley was on a mission, and that mission was called 'find entertainment for snake-boy'...which pretty much meant Riley was either looking for a kids playplace to drop the boy off in, or to find a toystore to buy the boy something to keep him occupied at home. The Military man, dressed in jeans, black sneakers and a simple t-shirt walked briskly down the street, his gaze focused on nothing in particular but determined nonetheless...and just slightly behind him, was a little leucistic snake-boy struggling to keep up.

"Rileeeeey~" Emmet whined quietly, trying to reach out for Riley's hand once more. He had been holding it earlier, but he had to let go when he couldn't keep up properly anymore. "Riley, m'tired...!" The black-eyed boy whimpered as he slithered as fast as he could to stay near Riley. There were many things that Emmet was afraid of; and one of the most dominant ones was being left behind in this strange place. He had to keep up!

"We're almost there, just a little farther." Riley told the boy, glancing back at him to make sure he was still there. He kept on at his regular pace...which he hadn't recognized as being too fast for the poor kid. In response, Emmet only pursed his lips together for a moment, then continued to try and keep up.

Unfortunately for Emmet, he was paying too much attention to speed and not enough attention to safety; so when there came an uneven tile on the sidewalk, Emmet slithered into it in such a way it caught him off guard and he fell forward. Luckily, he caught himself with his hands, and the surprise of falling combined with the sting of small pebbles brought tears to his eyes as he righted himself on his tail, leaning back and looking at his dirty, reddened hands.

"Ouchie..." Emmet hiccupped, clasping his sore hands together and pulling them against his pale, bare torso with a thin whine. Finally he looked up, looking around him for Riley in hopes of some vague comfort from his guardian...but the brown haired man was not there. Tear-filled eyes widened in panic and he looked all around him. "Riley?" Emmet managed to get out, though his call probably wasn't loud enough to get passed the crowd that was immediately around him; he never was one to scream. He waited for a moment...and Riley didn't reappear for him.

His worst fears confirmed, Emmet coiled his tail around him, and right in the middle of the sidewalk he burst into tears.

Saedah slithered along holding onto her fathers hand, she was smiling a bit timidly as she always scooted a bit closer to her papa when strangers walked past them, she didn't like strangers she didn't like the way the looked at her strangely, it made her uncomfertable and she always wanted to look away or to the ground.

Kuyoja had decided it was time to get Saedah some proper toys, as he didn't have much expect the origami figures he had made for her. And he was figureing that having to remake them everytime one got ruined was not a very productive way to play. He held onto his daughters hand mostly because she needed him to hold it. He had finally weened her off of being held but she still needed that contact to be able to function vaugely outside their apartment.

His attention shifted from his thoughts as he noticed a small boy crying on the sidewalk directly ahead of them, he slowed his steps down as they neared, his gaze looking around to see if he could find the parent who belonged to him. It looked like he was lost.

Saedah heard the noise first and it made her nervous. It was the sound of crying she gripped her fathers hand tighter as they neared the boy. She moved to hug her fathers leg out of habit.

Kuyoja cleared his throat. "Are you lost?" He inquired to the boy noting that he was smaller than Saedah but was also another snake like child. He hoped Saedah could get over her fear of new people and perhaps held calm him down.

Emmet was wiping his eyes with his balled up fists, occassionally just holding the back of his wrists to his face. If he couldn't see anyone, they couldn't see him and that made him safe! The thought was good enough to keep him from puking, but it wasn't good enough to keep him from being scared.

The little Leucistic startled when he heard someone clear his throat and subsequently speak...and he could only assume to him. The boy seemed to stop verbally crying instantly, but his body had completely tensed up, the tears kept coming and the little gasps for breath continued. Emmet very slowly lowered one of his wrists, just enough to peer over it with a wide, terrified eye. Slitted red pupils moved frantically over the face and general outline of the stranger, and it barely flickered down to the little girl there too. Soon, he nodded slowly to the stranger.

"R-riley's gone." The boy whimpered out quietly, his arms still up to his face and his body still rigid with fear, so much so that only the occassional cry-induced tremble. He was slowly leaning away from the strange man and the strange girl, seemingly intent on getting his back up to the building behind them and to curl into a ball...but he wasn't going to make any sudden movements, and so the process was slow, but apparent.

Kuyoja continued to peer down at the boy, he assumed Riley..must of been the kids parent...or sibling. He watched as the child was ever so slowly trying to get away from them. Perhaps...being afriad was a trait in snakes type children. But then again...there was Ter.... perhaps it was just a child trait.

He couldn't allow the child to remain here alone...but by taking a child he was in essence kidnapping it. Perhaps he should call the police?

Sniffling Saedah looked out from behind her fathers leg. She had been scared at first, this was a stranger. But...she wasn't use to others crying. Usually she was the one doing all the crying. Moving forward although still holding onto Kuyoja's hand she slithered a bit closer to Emmet.

"Is Riley daddy?" She inquired in a soft tone. She looked up to Kuyoja offering the man a very small smile. She pointed at him and looked back to Emmet.

"My papa. You are alone?"

Emmet choked back a sniffle, his little body shaking now that he'd managed to stop his crying. He peered over his arms again at the soft female voice, hiccupping and slowly, very slowly, lowering his arms. It was clear he could throw his arms over his face again at the drop of a hat, but it was the effort he took to relax that counted. His voice trembled as he spoke. "U-uh huh. Daddy." There was a little nod, a small and very quick glance up at the red head, and a pause. "C-couln' keep up to Riley." The little leucistic explained, his eyes still rimmed with red and tears, but his gaze moved shyly and nervously from the bright coloured girl to her guardian to the ground in front of him. "I-I tripped an' when I looked up..." His voice trailed off in favor of a distressed whimper.

Emmet slowly and uncertainly opened his arms towards the girl as if he wanted a hug, but wasn't sure if he should try or not. She was by no means his sister, and she was a stranger...but she was like him, at least. A little older, and definitely had more colour to her; but she was a snake, and she was there, and she seemed kind of shy, and she was talking softly. Most importantly, he needed a hug.

Saedah chewed on her lower lip debating the open arms the boy had given her before she slowly slipped her hand free of her fathers grasp and slithered a bit slowly towards Emmet. He was smaller than her...she couldn't let that scare her. He was crying, and boy did she know how scary it could be, being by yourself. It didn't take her long to envelope him in a hug, her tail wrapping a bit around the boys tail as if trying to reassure him.

"Its okay. Papa and I help you find Riley daddy." She murmured hugging him tightly. She only could do this because she was older than him...and she knew how he felt.

Kuyoja watched a bit pleased his daughter was taking action. He looked around again for any adult who could possibly fit this Riley person. Who was irresponsible enough to just walk off without their child? True he had been thrown into the role of parent unexpectedly but that didn't mean he would ever dream of abandoning the girl.

"What does your father look like?" He asked the boy.

Emmet was click to cling to the girl, nuzzling his apparently noseless face into her shirt. His fear of strangers was overlooked by his fear of being alone; and the girl, who was a complete stranger, was now someone who kept him safe. Hiccupping again, he shuddered as if he were about to burst into tears again...but it was the man's question that made him try to stop. A few quick deep breaths left his lips as he fought to keep his tears under control, his fingers tightly grasping in the baggy clothes the girl wore.

"T-tall...uh...brown h-hair?" The little leucistic got out, trying really hard to remember what Riley looked like; like most kids, he could recognize his parent anywhere, but when asked to describe...well, not so much. Riley was Riley, what else was there to it? "I don' know!" He whined after a moment, clearly upset.

Somewhere down the street came a rather loud and panicked deep voice. "Emmet!" A few minutes later a taller man with brown hair appeared from the crowd, a cell phone in his hand that was apparently still connected to a call. He stopped instantly when he saw the little leucistic clinging to another snake; he barely noticed the other man there. "Oh thank god." He gasped out, lifting his phone to his ear. "Thanks for the call, Crescentia, I found him." There was a brief goodbye and the phone was closed and slipped back into his pocket.

Emmet's eyes widened when he saw the Military man. "Riley!" He cried out, removing himself from the girl to slither over to his Guardian. Emmet instantly clung to his leg and buried his face into Riley's jeans just before bursting into tears again. This time though, they were tears of relief.

"I'm sorry, Emmet." Riley said quietly, patting the crying snake's thin hair. His gaze then moved to the girl and the man standing near her. "Thank you."

When Emmet let go Saedah..now alone quickly slithered back to her own father as this Riley fellow was a bit intimidating. She went back to holding Kuyoja's hand as she peered over to where Emmet was happily clutching to his father. Although he was still crying, but Saedah could understand that. Sometimes the relief would be too much and she did the same thing.

Kuyoja only nodded his head curtly to this Riley fellow although he was glad that he came back so quickly he was a bit dissapointed he had left his child alone for this length of time. But at the same time he had Saedah hide on him before....he could understand the panic one could feel.

"Your welcome. I am Mr. Tsuzuki I work as at eacher at the D-corp compound. This is Saedah...my daughter." He introduced.

Riley's gaze shifted down to the little girl again; she certainly seemed timid! No wonder Emmet decided to cling to her, of all people. His gaze went down to his own wailing little snakeling, and he awkwardly pet the boy's hair again. A crying kid was definitely high on his list of things that made him uncomfortable. Then...the other man introduced himself. Riley's stomach plummetted then. This man was...a Teacher? At D-Corp? And he found Emmet alone? ...s**t!

"Riley Grey. Nice to meet you, Mr. Tsuzuki." The Military man had been quick to regain his composure, holding out his hand for the other man. "This is Emmet." As if they hadn't already guessed that. Riley didn't introduce Emmet as his son, or any other relation to him...Emmet was strictly 'Emmet'.

Emmet wiped his tears off on Riley's jean leg before looking over at Saedah with a hiccup. "Thanks..." He muttered shyly to the other girl, feeling more self-conscious now than ever; he'd cried in front of her! Of course he had a good reason, but still. "Um...d-do you like batman?" Emmet said meekly, trying to break the ice; she was nice enough to make him feel better, he could at least try to be brave...ish.

Kuyoja looked to the hand a moment before reaching out and curtly shaking it. He then looked briefly back down to Emmet again before looking at his own little girl. He couldn't fault the man he supposed, Saedah liked to hide on him when she was Emmet's age.

"A pleasure Mr. Grey, Saedah when she was little had a habit on hiding, she is still pretty good at it I must admit." He told the little story as if trying to let the man know that these things happened, as long as he came back for his child there wasn't any perminant harm.

Saedah looked back from her father and then to Emmet as he shyly asked her a question. Batman? She shook her head slowly still clinging to her pappa's hand.
"...W..hat's Bat man?" She inquired wondering if it were some man bat monster.

Well, Emmet hadn't run away from him...or in his case, slithered...but Riley caught the jist of what the teacher was trying to say. "Riley, please call me Riley." The military man said, quite enjoying being called by his first name for a long time in a while; too many undercover missions, not enough time to be 'Riley', himself. "Emmet would be good at hiding...if he wasn't so white." He mused, glancing down at the pure white skinned and scaled bratling. "Uhm...thanks again for looking after him for that little bit. How can I repay you?"

"Batman's a super hero!" Emmet said almost excitedly, still very much clinging to Riley's leg. "He saves people...Batman is Romeo's hero~ I like Joker, but he's a bad guy." Emmet seemed to get talkative, though he was still quiet, when on the subject of his current favourite thing. He paused for a moment, his black eyes lifting to look up at Riley, then over at Saedah's Dad, then down at Saedah herself. "U-uhm, do you have a hero?"
PostPosted: Thu Sep 25, 2008 8:34 am

Kuyoja would probably never call anyone by their first name unless given permission he nodded his head in an almost absent sort of way.

"There is no need for repayment. I am only glad he is safe. I am surprised your son hasn't found all the small niches to hide in. Saedah despite her coloring was able to find interesting places to hide in. Under the bed, the closet ..some days it took me hours to find her. I am lucky she has grown some." He mentioned though he sounded like he was having idle chit chat the fact his tone was rather flat made it hard to sound like chit chat.

Saedah also continued to cling to her own father though his hand as she looked over Emmet wondering what exactly he was talking about. She didn't watch much television as father said it would melt her brain. She wondered who was Romeo, or the Joker. A bad guy?

"A...hero? Um...." She blushed a bit as she thought on it. "Gweah is my hero." She murmured thinking to the owl boy.

"Ah, but thank you again." Riley said, then settled in to listen to Tsuzuki's little story about Saedah. He thought about it, then shook his head. "I'm fairly sure Emmet is a chicken in snake's clothing...he has hidden, but he comes right out when he realizes its me." Which was true, Emmet seemed to cling to what was comfortable, if not familiar. "What brings you downtown?" Riley went on to ask, trying to strike up conversation in hopes Emmet would make a friend.

Truth be told, Emmet didn't watch it at home either. Everything he knew from Batman he knew from Romeo, and the two of them had watched some episodes while Emmet was over at their house. "Who's that?" The little leucistic inquired curiously, probably thinking it was some cool superhero.

Saedah wasn't sure how the boy couldn't know Ligeia but then again she had no idea who batman was so it only made sense.

"Gwea is very nice. He saved me from many scary things.." she murmured in reply, "He is very pretty and has big fluffy wings.." She continued she then reached up to touch the blue ribbon she was wearing as a headband. "He even gave me this to take care of.."

Kuyoja nodded his head wishing he had a similar experience when it came to Saedah when she hid. She wouldn't come out for any reason. Perhaps for Orpheus's son Legeia...but certianly not for everyone.

"There is no need for thanks. But it looks like the children are getting along rather well. Perhaps we could set up a day for them to play together?" He asked, for he knew that Saedah's needed socialization badly.

"Oh." Was all Emmet could think of to say back to Saedah when she told him about the Gwea person. He rested his head against Riley's jeaned knee and thought about it. "S'very p-pretty." The little snakeling offered shyly when she motioned to her headband.

"Ah, Yes. I think that would be nice." Riley agreed, reaching into his pocket as if looking for a piece of paper. He paused halfway though, and looked back up at the man. "Actually, we were headed to a toystore...if you and your daughter would like to join us you'd be more than welcome." The military man extended the offer to Tsuzuki, thinking it would be a good idea since they were headed there anyway. Besides, he didn't have a pen to give Tsuzuki his phone number.

Emmet glanced up at his guardian, having heard about the toystore. Oh, right! He was going to the toystore! His gaze moved back down to Saedah. "'m going to the toystore!" He told her as if it were very important; to a small child, it was!
