The white dog shifted in the den lightly. She was feeling a bit horrible and had the urge to tidy up the den, even at the early hour that it was. The growled lightly and wiggled a bit before her urge took over. Cleaning. She tried not to wake Machu up yet. It was far too early. The moon still hung in the sky and the warmth from the sun still had a few hours before it came up.
Leini’s claws dug through the slightly packed dirt at the bottom of the den. She scrapped away the dry sand to make way for a softer and moister under-soil. She grinned slightly at the dirt that she pushed out of the den. She would do more later when the sun was in the sky to warm her. She would find something good. Something that would make the den more comfortable.
She frowned though, as she realized what the urges were for...

Machu shifted in his sleep, dreaming peacefully. A world where he was the king, pampered by all those around him. Leini beside him rubbing her now swollen belly. Slavic on the other with his own mate resting with his calves. Things would be perfect as others will do his bidding so he could lazy about the den and do absolutely nothing but reign supreme. However, that world faded when that familiar warmth of another moved from his side. He did not mind it at first as his large paw reached out for that anticipated form that would be beside him; her warm, soft fur, her quiet breathes, and her kicking belly. But, there was no form beside him. Lazily cracking an eye, he glanced over to see Leini missing.
She's probably up doing something...
He thought optimistically as he tried to laze himself back to sleep and hoping that dream will come back to him and he could just sleep the day away until he had to hunt, eat, and sleep again.
He just hope when the pups come, he won't have to do anything else but that. Machu was far too lazy to do things like that too often.

Leini pushed more dirt out of the den. She was probably close to her due date. Last time, she did it a few weeks before she birthed her son, Dejiki. She gave a smile, soon, she'd have more pups. She sat and touched her rounded belly with a smile on her face. "Soon, little ones..." She said with a smile.
She looked over to Machu, to check if she woke up, who had one eye open for a moment. She pulled herself and trotted back over to him, to lay back down. She eased herself down next to the orange-colored male with a sigh.

"You do too much..." He murmured with his eyes closed and threw a paw over her, pulling her closer. Finally, that nice warm feeling was back and her scent was closer to him now. With such acute hearing, he smiled at her comment, resting his head over hers.
"They'll come when they are ready... don't you worry about it," Machu murmured, flipping his tail in a semi-wag. He was quite curious when the cubs would get here as well. What would they look like? How many? Would any of them take the reins on this family and lead them?
He knew he was far too lazy for something like that.
"How high is the sun?..."

"I know," Leini said with a frown. "But I'm so excited, I can't wait for them to come..." She gave a grin. She hoped they would all be healthy. She couldn't bear of any of them weren't.
Leini gave Machu a small nuzzle before answering the questions. "It should be coming upon the horizon in little while," She gave a small hesitant smile. She knew she was a bit of a night owl. She loved the night. That, however, affected her sleeping pattern a lot lately, and now with her a**l retentivness that came with pregnancy. That would become so much worse.
In fact, the sun wouldn't be up for probably an hour.

"You should sleep and reserve your energy. You won't have any left to give birth to all of them..." he replied with a slight muffle from not being able to completely open his maw to speak. Mostly because of how he placed it on her head. His ears flicked back thinking about having to find a still born within the litter. Any parent would be heartbroken if one of their children were... well, one would understand.
With a soft groan, he moved off of her and curled up. "Early... so early..." Why was she up so early!? Why was he even talking this early!? With a grumble, he curled tighter to create his own warmth and tried to get back to sleep. Why would anyone wake up this early to begin with?
"... hungry?..."

"I know..." the white dog whispered. She was so nervous about the birth. Her past pup was healthy, but she only conceived one. She could feel now, that there were more this time. She gave a nervous shudder.
Leini turned her eyes to Machu as he curled on himself. "I'm sorry, Machu. I didn't mean to wake you..." She said softly before laying her head back down awkwardly onto her paws. It felt so strange having a belly.
"And, no, I'm not hungry, but if you are...?" She left the question there. What was she supposed to do?

"Just don't push yourself...." He answered. She said she was looking for her son. Okay, that meant either she only had one or she only knew where one was. He was hoping for the former. In which case, she would not have the experience to push out anymore than just one. Looking at her belly over the last few days, he doubted she only had one...
He groaned again. "Forget about it. I would have woken up anyways since you weren't next to me..." He would not have noticed otherwise. Feeling that nice warmth in the chill of the night, it would put anyone fast asleep knowing that someone who loved you was right there to love you and keep you.
He did not reply. He would have gotten up and gotten her something and went back to sleep.
Thank god she wasn't hungry.

Leini shifted over a bit and gazed at Machu for a moment.
"Machu...? Are you still awake?" She questioned in an almost whisper. Thoughts flew through her mind and she needed to be reassured. And insecurity that shone through softly. The questions burned at the tip of her tongue. What if...?
Her breath hitched for a moment and she held it.
... What if...?

"Hmmm?" he mumbled under his paw, lifting his head up, eyes cracked up lazily, ears back and maw askew. What did she want now? Hungry? Thirsty? Did she have to use the bathroom? She was a big girl... Regardless, as her mate, he had to reply.
Sort of.
"Yeah? What is it?"

Leini hesitated for a moment. "Am I..." She paused and shifted a bit again. "Nooo, it's silly..." She buried covered her eyes with one of her paws. "Am I still pretty?" she whispered the question as softly as she could. So insecure with her rounded belly...
She didn't regret it though. She could never regret the life she created with her body. But still, she felt silly.
But the questioned still burned there, in her mind. Did her hear her?

"You're fine as you are, Leini. Why, you scared I will find someone prettier and chase after them and start another family or something?" He smirked before uncurling himself into a side ways stretch and a yawn. "Don't be silly. I frankly don't care if you're pretty or not. You wanted me enough to have my puppies."
It was a strange question. It was like asking if he was handsome or charming, but he did not need that answer. He figured if his body was big and strong enough, they would come. Excluding the fact that he was a lazy butt.
"And the answer is yeah."

It wasn't what she wanted to hear, but she'd settle for it. "I know, I was just being silly," A frown and a sign. But her said she was still pretty, though. That was good. She gave Machu a smile and pulled herself next to him to gain more warmth.
"How many pups do you think we're having?" She questioned, looking down to her belly. "I hope there are a lot." She paused. "But not too many... Mum had nine, including me."
She probably wouldn't have much energy left to push out her pups or go on if she had nine or more, she shuddered. It was nerve-wreaking.

"Heh..." he murred as he felt her paws touch him, wagging a bit. Curling up would get more warmth, but this was fine, he didn't mind a bit of cold air if he had her behind him for warmth. She was pretty, he would admit. He would even admit there may be others out there, but he found the one he wanted.
"I dunno, I just hope there aren't a lot," For obvious reasons, of course. "Maybe you'll have twins. Maybe we'll just watch them grow and learn on their own. But I just hope that they are good little puppies and leave their dad alone."
Machu has long forgotten about his family. Starting this one would be a fresh start on a memory of any sort of family.

Leini giggled.
She hoped there'd be more than two. She'd raise them to be cunning and sly, in their own right anyways. She hoped she kept all her pups with her for a while. She herself left right after she had got weened from milk. It'd make her sad. She couldn't imagine how her mother felt that two of her pups just up and left.
She nuzzled Machu. "I think we should go back to sleep now, ad wake up when the sun is already high in the sky," she stated with a grin. She'd be able to sleep now, mind put at rest.
