As he watched his son walk off, he had to admit his surprise. The situation had gone over a lot better than he had planned. He was sure that Gabriel would have fought for him over what he had done but then again, that would show protectiveness of something loved and he wasn't sure his son could really love anything. Perhaps his son saw good in it. One less mouth to feed. One less problem to worry about.
To be honest, Reaper wasn't sure what came over him. He wasn't one to 'steal' baskets. No, no, that's not entirely true. He knew what had come over him. It was the need to try to save at least one of them. He wasn't sure what the fate of his grandbabies would be in the care of his son and his.. companion. She didn't seem much different than his son. Surely that would be no situation to raise foals. Not that he could claim the parent of the year award. He'd pretty much ******** up his last two sets of offspring but he had changed.
Something in him had changed and that something would not rest until he had dragged away one of Gabriel and Mari Llwyd's baskets. The couple didn't seem overly concerned about it either. It only confirmed that he had made the right decision. The basket would be better off with him than with his or her parents.
Little sounds could be heard from within the basket, as if the tiny creature was trying to say something. It was then that he decided on a name for the little foal.
Murmur.
