Read a good book lately? Want to discuss it? Then you've come to the right place! As mentioned above, if you've read a good book (or a bad book or even a book that's just okay) and you want to tell others about it, here's the place to do so!

I am currently read Deadline. It is an awesome book and I highly recommend it. Its about this guy who is 18 and just found out he has about a year to live because of some rare disease he has. Instead of telling is family and friends he keeps it a secret. He tries to live the rest of his life to the fullest and as normal as possible.

I'm reading a nice book at the moment, that is by James Patterson, it's part of his Alex cross series, it's called cat and mouse.

Edana - I've read those books, they're really good. I also recommend the Womens Murder Club ones if you haven't read them (1st to Die, 2nd Chance etc).
I am currently reading some ancient Egyptian based books by Wilbur Smith. As far as I know the series doesn't have a name, but the one I'm currently reading is... actually I can't remember... not good, and I'm not even at home to check... Anyway, those books are really good. I mostly like them because I'm interested in Ancient Egypt

Wow! Those sound great! Right now I'm reading Jim Butcher's Codex Alera series and waiting for Inkdeath by Cornelia Funke to come out in the US.

I've read two books for class recently W;t and How to Read Literature Like A Professor. I disliked W;t, but I absolutely detest the other one.
Privately, I just got done reading The Mysterious Affair at Styles by Agatha Christie. She's the queen of Mystery

I agree. I love Agatha Christie! Have you read And Then There Were None, which was also published as Ten Little Indians? It's very good.
I highly recommend the Abhorsen trilogy by Garth Nix and The Black Magician trilogy by Trudi Canavan. Probably my 2 favorite series. Good Night, Mr. Tom by Michelle Magorian is also very good.

I've never read any of Agatha Christies books before. I've heard good things, but am not really interested in mystery.
I'm currently reading Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. I had heard that it was good, and surprisingly it is. I haven't wanted to put it down since I started reading it.

goddess_tyche, I noticed the Sword of Truth banner in you sig. Have you read all of those books? I'm currently on Soul of the Fire. Number 5, I think, not including the prequel of course. They're very good so far. I only just started Soul of the Fire though, and then had to stop reading it because it was a library book and we moved. I want to get it again, but it's always checked out. sweatdrop

Ooh! I love Agatha Christie too. And the Sword of Truth series and The Black Magician trilogy also. Another really good book is The Eight by Katherine Neville. I read mostly fantasy, but some mysteries as well. Other than Agatha Christie, the Kate Martinelli mysteries and Mary Russel mysteries by Laurie R. King are good.

You should try and get the rest, especially the next one (Faith of the Fallen) - that's my favourite book in the series.

I absolutely cannot stand The DaVinci Code! And it's not even because of the stupid religious controversy either.
The writing is such a bore in the beginning, not to mention confusing with the constant going back and forth to scenes. I just couldn't bring myself to finish the novel, it was too tedious! This is just one of those books where I find presented alot better as a movie than a book. I found the book's predecessor, Angels & Demons to be so much more intriguing in terms of storyline.

I didn't mind The DaVinci Code. I thought the writing was pretty well done. I wasn't overly keen on the movie. I'm one of these people who make comparisons to the book, and there were way too many things different for my liking. I would like to read Angels and Demons though.
