Life had been rather busy at the family's den in the pridelands. Shiri had given birth to seven cubs and Kei had come to stay with the family. While the older cubs were certainly out more often, all remained with their family. In addition to Shiri's cubs, a dark striped male appeared, claiming to be Shiri's father and not long after his appearance, he fathered two cubs from Shiri's mother.

With nine cubs roaming around and relationships still being formed, Kutulia found that there didn't seem to be as much time for the hares. It didn't bother her too much, though she looked forward to things calming down in the near future.

Stepping out for the day, the pale colored hare decided to check out what excitement she could come across!

Sungura was happy to spend some time away from the pride. Hanging around a bunch of babies wasn't exactly his scene, though he had to admit that some of the cubs were starting to grow on him. Particularly Shangwe, whom he liked to spend the most time with. He was a cute cub with an active imagination, though admittedly he wasn't always the friendliest fellow. A lot of the time Sungura wondered if he would grow out of his rude way of pointing things out, doubting it heartily. It was alright if he didn't- it was damn funny to see a cub point out the faults in elders and other animals.

Sighing softly, he hoped along slowly towards a nice shady-looking tree. Humming lightly, he sniffed the air, noting another's scent. Another hare, it seemed. Smiling, he looked around, wanting to meet this hare right away.

"Who's out there?" he asked lightly.

Hopping along, Kutulia was surprised to spot another hare resting in the shade of a nearby tree. Upon closer inspection, it appeared as though the hare was familiar, but the female couldn't quite place her finger on it. She remembered her father mentioning something about a new hare in the den, but Kutulia hadn't an opportunity yet to meet them. Perhaps this was the new hare her father was speaking of?

Approaching to introduce herself, Kutulia giggled lightly when she heard his voice. Apparently he hadn't noticed her.

Continuing forward, the white colored hare took a short bow before the speckled male. "Good morning," She spoke, her voice soft and kind. Kutulia was a very gentle rabbit and with the safety of the pridelands she had grown rather fearless within its borders.

Though he would never admit it, hearing her voice come out of no where like that had managed to startle the calico-colored hare. He jumped, turning around to look right at the white lady. "Good morning!" Laughed the male in return, "my, you startled me. I didn't even hear you come up." he pulled one of his long ears in front of him, as though trying to get a good look at it, "stupid thing! What good are huge ears when you can't hear someone right behind you?" he laughed at that, amused with himself, and offer a bow of his head to the lady.

"Anyway! It's nice ta meet ya, miss," he offered as politely as his cocky attitude would allow, "my name is Sungura. and what do I have the pleasure of calling you?"

When the calico-colored hare before her jumped at the sound of her voice, Kutulia held a dainty white paw in front of her mouth to cover a shy giggle. It seemed rather typical to come across skiddish hares. She understood that not all who wandered into the pridelands were familiar with the way that the things were run. While hares were often hunted by lions, a friendship with one lion could save many. Even after living in the pridelands for some time, her own mother remained rather fearful.

Once Sungura had begun to speak, however, Kutulia was glad to notice that he was stutter free and rather talkative. Oh how Kutulia enjoyed having someone to talk to! She was always glad to have a big family because of that!

"Sungura?" Kutulia asked with a growing smile after the male's introduction. "What are the chances? That's the name of my father!" With another giggle, the hare finally offered her own name, "My name is Kutulia, but you're welcome to call me Tuli."

“Is it now?” laughed the male, “and here I thought I was special!” He didn’t, actually. His name seemed like something that would be quite common. His mother hadn’t been particularly thoughtful when naming him. He didn’t mind, though, as he knew his character more than made up for things. After all, he was totally awesome.

It was sometimes hard to keep just how awesome he was in check.

Grinning, he watched the female, getting a good look at her while he had a moment to. She wasn't a bad looking female, and was friendly to boot. He was starting to think the pridelands wouldn't be that bad a place to stay after all. "Tuli? I like that," he hummed thoughtfully, "it's a very pretty name, for a very pretty hare."

Kutulia could sense when Sungura was looking her over, though she didn't protest. No longer was the pale colored hare a young girl and she knew the importance of impressing males that she came across. Hares were scattered across the savannah and the few she had met didn't quite match up to her expectations. She could only hope she'd find what she was looking for eventually. But Mnyama didn't have kittens either, so there was still time for both of them, right? The fact that her young siblings were already adults was somewhat discouraging.

Disregarding her thoughts, Kutulia smiled warmly at the compliment. The males she had come across previously had also used that same sweet comment and so the second time around it wasn't quite as embarassing. Tuli's confidence was certainly improving though.

Giggling shortly before speaking, the hare smiled again. "Why thank you. Sungura is also a perfect name for a hare." Glancing around before continuing, the hare looked curious, "So, what brings you to the pridelands?"

“I suppose it should be,” Sungura replied, not entirely ignorant of the name’s meaning. How bored a parent must be to call their son “hare” in another language. Truly he had not been the prize of the pack in their eyes. The kitten with least prospect, probably. Maybe he had been the runt.

He couldn’t really remember now.

“I’m not really sure,” the male replied causally, looking up at the sky, “I guess I just figured it was time for something new, you know? Too much of the old crap can really get a guy down, right? Maybe you don’t know. I should have asked! Have you lived here long? Maybe you can tell me a little about this place. Teach me the ropes and how I should act.”

Moving closer to her, he grinned encouragingly, “if you want, you could even give me a tour. I promise I won’t be… too much trouble for you.”

Kutulia listened quietly to what Sungura had to say. He didn't seem to think much of his name, but the pale hare was still amused. Even with a meaning not so original, the name still had a very special emotional connection to her and she was surprised to find someone else with the name of her father!

The manner in which Sungura spoke caused the female to blush. He was rather forward and didn't seem to show caution at his choice of words. Being the delicate and proper young female she was, she covered a small giggle when the male said 'crap'. That was something entirely new to her. Sungura, her father, wouldn't have been too happy to find his daughters speaking that way. Even when her parents became more lenient with her younger brothers they still knew to be careful about things like that. The simplest misbehavior could cause Kutulia's poor mom to panic.

When Sungura moved closer, Kutulia's blush became brighter. "Why I.. I suppose I could." She had been so willing to help out Biskiti when he asked for directions, why was this any different?

Turning away for a moment, the female hare looked towards the pridelands. "I actually was born in the pridelands and grew up amongst the lions as an equal member of the pride."

"Wow, an equal member huh?" whistled the male thoughtfully. He had to say that he was quite impressed to hear it. "Where I come from, being with lions isn't really a good thing. Normally it means you're about to become dinner." He chuckled at that, though couldn't help but shudder at the image. A few members of his family had been eaten by lions in the rogue lands. Distant members, but that didn't make their deaths anything short of terrible. Sighing, he smiled once more, never one to let things get to him for long.

"This pride must be a great place," he hummed thoughtfully, "to house such nice lions as well as such pretty hares. I think I'm going to like it here." As they started to move, Sungura looked about the area, wondering if it really was a peaceful place. Maybe he would actually be able to chill for a little while and not feel like something was lurking just beyond a bush to rip his ears off. That would be nice- he was tired of acting paranoid. It just didn't suit his personality to be a worry-wart like his mother had been. Always thinking something horrible was going to happen. He just didn't think it was the kind of life he needed.

((We can have Sungura follow Tuli into the Pridelands and end it there? Then we can pick up again and have Tuli introduce him to her family?))

When Sungura explained his surprised reaction, Kutulia nodded slowly. She had met quite a few prey animals growing up and learned that her relationship with the lions was certainly strange. Even knowing this, the hare couldn't help but remain comfortable in her position. That was the life she had grown into and she couldn't imagine living any other way. It provided such a shelter for the hares and while they didn't share the spoils of the lion's hunt, they were protected and able to search for their own types of foods. "Yea. That is why my dad tries to keep me close to the Pridelands. I'm curious about the land outside these borders, but i'm not sure how well i'd do expecting every lion to befriend me."

Kutulia turned to lead their way back into the Pridelands where she could give the male a tour. With her back to him, the female hare raised a small paw to her cheek as it continued to glow pink. It was rather embarassing having such a light fur in which her blush couldn't be hidden! "Just this way.." She said quietly, keeping her gaze directed forward.

Sungura watched her for a moment, smiling coyly. “It would probably get you into a lot of trouble very quickly,” he offered faintly, though not because he wanted to frighten her or anything like that- he just thought that it was best to be honest with her. The rogue lands were dangerous for hares. Hell, they were dangerous for lions. If you weren’t on guard, you were likely to be made a snake in no time at all. Walking up and trying to talk to a lion out there was more or less a death sentence.

He would never do something like that, unless he was cornered and the lion forced him to speak with it before the execution. Even then it would be a reluctant talk.

Chuckling, amused by his own thoughts, he looked once more at the white girl, pleased to be in her company. At least he felt welcomed. He hadn’t noticed her blush, perhaps to busy looking at the rest of her frame. “Sounds good, lead on.”
