Keiran giggled as he skipped down the hallway of the Academy, though no one could be sure what he found so amusing. Most students shuffled out of his way, ignoring his queer ways or occasional staring by the newer recruits. But Keiran took no notice, lost in his own world and laughing at something only he knew as he continued to hop along his merry way. This was a common sight to anyone who's been at the Academy for at least a week, and one become accustomed to the scene as if it were nothing more than a part of the building structure.

"Ooh, cute!" A sudden halt to his antics, Keiran dropped the floor and crawled between legs, unaware of the indignant protests rising up from above him. He was too captivated by the mouse he had seen running along the wall and he attempted to chase the creature, darting across the hall on all fours. The mouse darted into a crack in the wall, and Keiran attempted to follow. As any sensible person would expect, his head bumped into the wall before he even managed to stick a finger into the hole. "Owwie!"

Rubbing his head, Keiran sniffled as he tried to keep the tears of pain at bay. Several students chuckled and shook their heads before moving on their way, knowing better than to stop and talk to the young boy. Engaging Keiran in conversation at this point would result in several hours of listening to a one-sided discussion about flowers and butterflies, and if he was in a particularly good mood, even ponies. But most were smart enough to avoid such a trap, especially since the last good-willed person who had stopped to talk to him had ended up cornered in the hallway for three hours and consequently missed an important lecture. The poor student was almost kicked out by the angry Drill Sergeant.

"Butterfly!" Keiran rushed towards the flying insect, failing to realize that he was indoors while his victim was outside. He ran straight for the butterfly, students jumping out of his way and others watching as he smacked into the window. Fortunately his hands had been in front of him in preparation to grab the butterfly, otherwise he'd be sporting a rather large bruise on his face at the moment. "Ow! Noo, come back, butterfly!" If one hadn't known better, Keiran would've been mistaken for a six-year old, although he could pass for one given his short 5'2" stature. Still, he had an uncanny ability to tune into lessons, only showing his lack of attention when outside in an environment which allowed his curiousity to run rampant - which was probably why the Drill Sergeant hadn't kicked him out of the Academy yet.

A loud rumbling sound reached his ears and Keiran vaguely wondered who was growling. Then an empty feeling in his stomach alerted him to his hunger. "I'm hungry," he announced to no one in particular, standing by the window and looking outside. He wondered what grass tasted like.

Tucking her hair behind one ear, Keahi took a bite out of a roll she was eating. The lone girl was having a small snack in the dining hall before she had to get to her next class. A book was laid out in front of her, and every few bites a hand will turn the page. When the roll was gone, Keahi let out a sigh. Now that she was done, she didn't have anymore reason to stay. But right now it was quiet with only a few people in the dining room, just how she liked it.

Her soft blue eyes scan the room landing where she cooks serve. The roll wasn't enough to fill, so maybe she will get a little more to eat. Placing a book mark in the page where she stop, Keahi closed it. Leaving it there, she got to her feet to see if there was anything else good to eat.

Skipping down the halls, merrily ignoring all the roll of eyes that passed him, Keiran finally made it to the dining hall without incident. Well, technically, he wasn't hurt, but the same couldn't really be said about the new Recruit who had asked Keiran for directions - the poor girl had unwittingly been directed to the wolf's cavern, and one could only hope she would return in one piece.

Upon stepping foot into the hall, Keiran failed to look around as he bounded straight for the pass lined with servers. He flipped over a chair (but landed on his feet), ran into the corner of a table (yelped but didn't stop), and knocked a plate full of food out of someone's hand (and ended up with bits of egg in his hair)... until he was but one obstacle away from food. And that obstacle happened to be Keahi, who he did not notice as he ran straight towards her on a path to collision.

Keahi was about to grab a plate, when all of the sudden something crash into her from behind. The force knock her of balance making she fall over. She tried to regain it, only to fail. Her hands landed on the ground first, so she didn't get hurt. Her back was toward the person the rammed into her, as Keahi got back onto her feet.

"What are going?! Can't you see where you are going?" she yelled at him as she whipped around to face the person. Now she can see the it was the boy, Keiran, the one who seemed to have only one emotion, happiness. She had see him in the halls, but have never really talked to him. She had also heard that when you do talk to him, he will go on for hours. She just hope he won't be like that with her.

Keiran had a one track mind, which unfortunately, also led to his having a one track... path. In other words, once he set his sights on something, that's all he'll see. At the moment, his target was a plate of steaming pastry on the counter before him. And so in his rush to lunge for the food, he failed to notice that someone was already there. Keiran knocked right into her back, the impact on his right shoulder causing his body to bound back and twirl 180 degrees before landing on his bottom with a loud "Oomph!"

Confused as to where the girl had appeared from, Keiran decided that she must know how to teleport. With a bright smile, completely ignoring her angry shouting, he leapt to his feet and pushed himself up to look at her right in the eye - a mere three inches from Keahi's face. "That was SO cool! How did you just appear from out of nowhere? Can you teach me? I want to learn how to teleport too! Then I don't have to run all the time! Well, I kind of like running... but I could be so good at hide and seek! And..."

Keahi's prediction came true, because Keiran wasn't shutting up anytime soon.

Keahi had to take a step back to give herself some space between them. Her eyes stare blankly at him for a moment before a blink cleared them. She wonder what he was talking about. Did he truly not see me? she wondered. One hand came up to rubbed her forehead. Why must I deal with these idiots? she asked herself.

"What are you talking about? No one can teleport, idiot," she told Keiran. Her voiced was much calmer then when she had yelled at him. When she did yelled at him it wasn't so much that she was angry with him, it was the fact that he had surprised her. And she didn't like surprises.

Nobody could teleport? Now that went completely against all logic, because someone else had clearly told him that it was possible. Wide eyes accompanied by a slight furrowing of the eyebrows showed that Keiran was slowly becoming horridly depressed - that and there was a light quivering to his lips. "You can't teleport?"

Keiran sounded like he was about to burst into tears because, well, he was. He had a very strict thought about how the world worked and whenever those beliefs were put into question, it upset him greatly. Keiran sniffled as he glanced up at Keahi with sad eyes. "But, but.. so you can't teach me to teleport? You can't teleport? You can't teach me? Why can't you teleport? Why can't you teach me? Why??" Every word became more and more desparate as he leaned closer to Keahi with each question.

Keahi blinked at the sight of seeing him starting to cry. "No, don't cry. I'm sorry I can't teach you but its just not possible," she said to him, hoping that he would stop. Truthfully, she didn't like seeing people cry or be upset, unless they deserved it. And he just seemed to be an idiot, at the wrong place and time.

Keahi had to take another step backwards as he leaned closer. She was becoming so tempted to push Keiran away or even to put a hand over his mouth. It was really annoying to hear the almost the something being said over and over again. "Why do you think teleporting has to be real?" she asked. She was thinking that maybe if she can get him to talk, more then just repeating himself, he can start to calm down.

Keiran immediately stopped his bawling at the question his companion posed, and he quickly looked more confused than depressed. Why exactly did he think teleporting was real? He couldn't remember... had one of the professors told him? Or maybe it was Selia...

"I don't know, why can't it be real?" Keiran responded, tilting his head quizzically at Keahi as if she had the answer to his question. He was completely unaware that he was probably making her uncomfortable with his proximity. Keiran simply scurried up to her and looked at her with wide puppy-like eyes, like a child waiting to hear a story... about teleportation.

Rubbing her head, Keahi now had to figure out how to explain it. It was just impossible, though it might be possible in theory. At least the kid wasn't crying anymore. "First of all, will you take a step back, since there is something called personal space," she said.

"Ok, people can't teleport because, um, well something just can't disappear and then reappear somewhere else," she tried to explained, but she knew she had failed. She just hoped that he might be stupid enough to accept that answer. "Its not an easy thing to explain."

Keiran furrowed his eyebrows slightly when Keahi asked him to step back. But if he were further away from her, he wouldn't be able to hear her as well. What if he missed something she said?! However, he didn't want her to leave him, so he took one step back and looked at her expectantly.

However, her explanation of why people couldn't teleport fell on deaf ears, for Keiran found something much more interesting... personal space. As soon as she had mentioned it, his eyes had widened and his curiousity peaked. He'd never heard of this personal space, and he really wanted to know what it was.

So as soon as Keahi stopped talking (about what, he didn't know or care at the moment), Keiran opened his mouth. "What's personal space? Where can I find it? Can I go there? Is it big? Can we both fit?" And on he went... again.

Lyra left the corner she had been, deciding that it was safe enough to get some food. She had been hiding and waiting for the dining hall to empty out, and now besides herself there was barely anyone there. She walked towards where the food was when she stopped upon seeing two recruits right by the food. "What's personal space? Where can I find it? Can I go there? Is it big? Can we both fit?" She heard the boy ask the girl who looked like she was on the last of her patience.

Should I just not eat anything? Would they notice if I went by them to get something? Lyra closed her right light blue eye and light pink left eye, trying to focus solely on this problem. No, I need to start to get more used to people, not just being with them but conversing with them, and opening her eyes with a determined face she went behind the boy and replied, "Personal space is the variable and subjective distance at which one person feels comfortable talking to another."

Slapping herself in the forehead, she dragged her hand down across her face. In one way it was hard for her to believe that he didn't know what personal space was. Yet, from what she learn about in the least few minutes it wasn't. Keahi was at least glad that he took a step back, since that was all she really needed.

Keahi was going to say something else, but see saw a girl came up behind the boy. The girl was also nice enough to explain. She didn't really like to explain things. Her eyes looked over Lyra, before saying, "Thank you. Its nice to know there is at least one other person with a brain."

[OoC: Eeps, sorry for the insanely long delay. Been busy with Christmas events. ><]

Keiran shut up (yes, it was a miracle) as a new voice spoke up behind him. Whipping around, a little too quickly, he wobbled a little as he attempted to balance on one foot...the other leg had flung out behind him as he tried not to fall forward. His back leg managed to hit something solid, which brought him back to a state of balance, and he set both feet firmly back on the ground.

As he registered the new girl, Keiran realized he had no idea what she had said. It was as if she was speaking a different language! "Very-ball? Sub-jet-what?" he echoed (poorly), brows furrowing into a painful look of confusion. Then something dawned on him, and his eyes widened in realization. "Oh WOW! You can speak wolf?!"

"Uh..." Lyra didn't know what to say to, she was a total loss for words. That girl seems to be arrogant, and the boy seems to be...not so bright, she thought as she looked at the boy's wide eyes gazing upon her. Not a good combo for someone who doesn't have much experience in conversations. She felt uncomfortable and was beginning to wonder whether she should have stayed out of the whole thing, kept quiet. Lyra looked and saw that the girl had her head down and her right hand on her forehead, as if she couldn't take it anymore.

"Well, I'm afraid I've never seen a wolf, let alone spoke with one. What I said was in the same language you were speaking." Lyra thought of how she could clear this weird misunderstanding. She couldn't think of anything else she could say. All she could do was hope the girl would say something to help her.
