It was a hot summer day and in such a condition as she was, Khalla was in no mood to be up and moving. Her stomach was not particularly swelling just yet, but she was beginning to show and the lives she was sheltering were beginning to take their toll her on body already. Thus, she had chosen to shelter in the shade of a tree, its large limbs hanging heavy overhead with thick greenery and the base littered with tall tufts of grass and thick bush. It was a nice little haven from the heat and it shielded her from prying eyes or other elements she simply wished to avoid.
She had taken the time to stop by a watering hole before hunkering down and now all she truly wished for was a nice, long nap. With a deep sigh, she simply leaned her head onto her paws, shut her eyes, and reveled in the fact that she was probably in a comfortable and safe enough place to grab herself some well-deserved alone time. She probably should have known better, for in times when she most wants something for herself, it seemed that life had other plans in store for her altogether.

Anyone within Misri's vicinity was really fair game. It wasn't that he was particularly malicious person, or that he liked to ruin the well-deserved rest or peace of others, it was just that he liked to talk. Misri loved good conversation and company and when he could find a time to partake in either, well, by all means he was going to take it! It was unfortunate that the company he was about to stumble across this day happened to be a cranky, tired lioness whose only concern was a nap that she was in dire need of - it was also unfortunate that he was unobservant enough not to realize that she was any of those things.
If there was anything Misri loved more than a good conversation, it was a pretty lady, and by gods was this one gorgeous!
"Why, hello there," came his purring drawl, his bright pelt hard to miss in the afternoon sunlight as it slanted down across the Savannah. Well, to be honest, his bright pelt was really hard to miss at any time. He had stopped before the tree, aware of just how territorial a lioness could get (with all of his 'encounters', he knew how to approach every situation) and was waiting for her supposed invitation before he took a step further. "What is a pretty lady like yourself doing all alone in the middle of nowhere?" It was an attempt at striking up conversation, and for what it was worth, he had put on his most charming smile.

A deep sigh fluttered past the maw of the white lioness as she heard footsteps approaching. Given the fact that they seemed light and bent towards making an obvious entrance, she was sure that whoever they belonged to truly meant her no harm. Her eyes opened, deep amber orbs locating the source of her interruption quite easily, and just as she was about to ask him to please excuse her so that she might catch up on some rest, she heard the words that came tumbling out of his stupid mug.
"Excuse me?" she asked, eyebrows raised. All thoughts of rest quickly vanished, though her crankiness from the lack of it did not. "Do you not think it a little rude to hit on a lioness that's trying to sleep, albeit a pregnant one?" It was said as politely as she could be bothered with right now, which was saying something, for the lioness was never rude to be perfectly honest. It was just her lack of sleep and her complete shock over his blunt personality that had probably stirred her emotions thus. Well, that, and she was pregnant, after all.

Considering that the lioness had seemed to be quiet serene when he first approached, he was rather taken aback with the sudden switch in her attitude. His maw gaped, as if he might speak, but as her chastising words rolled out and bit at his ego, he found that whatever he had meant to say to her was lodged into the lump in his throat. He merely gaped at her for a moment, unsure of what he was supposed to do in reaction to that. At least he managed to close his gaping mouth and pull his bulging eyes back into their sockets.
"Well, pardon my intrusion miss," he said with a dip of his head, "I wasn't aware that you were trying to sleep, nor was I aware that you were in such a.. delicate condition." Now that he took the time to stare at her stomach past the underbrush that hid it, he could see the vague swell. "I just thought perhaps on such a lovely day, one might appreciate a little conversation." His brow quirked as he spoke. No, not even a pregnant lioness would dissuade him - he was a shameless flirt and enjoyed that just as much as anything else.

If the male had been a little wiser, he would have just turned tail on the grumpy, stubborn lioness and left when she gave him the opening. Instead, however, he chose to stick around and push his luck when she was truly in no mood to entertain his rather obvious advances.
"Conversation, you say? I'm afraid I'm not going to fall for that, young rogue. I'm sure I know exactly what you came over here for, before you noticed that my stomach was already swelling with the get of a male that reached this prize before you." She shook her head in a slight gesture before raising her chin and staring him squarely in the eye. "I think you could use a little guidance in your life, boy." Despite the fact that she wasn't that much older than him, if she was even older than he was at all, she was surely acting the role of his elder.

For the second time in less than five minutes, the usually chatty and cheery male found himself at a loss for words. He, for sure, had never known a female quite so bold as this one. He chewed at the inside of his cheek for a moment, feeling the heat in his cheeks and knowing that if he were not of such a bright coat, perhaps of a paler one, that his flesh would have for sure shown the embarrassment that he was feeling. He had prepared himself for a number of situations but this was certainly not one of them and it was quite like walking blindly through unfamiliar territory.
"I had no such intentions, miss," he said lamely, his ears drooping slightly as he tried to apologize to her. For what it was worth, he truly did feel sorry for hitting on her, though his intentions didn't typically end up hurting anyone either. "I don't really know what you mean by guidance, though, don't all rogues wander? I wouldn't be a rogue if I had guidance."

A frown of mild irritation splayed over the line of her mug, her ears perking a little from certain disbelief that he could really be pursuing this matter so far. She wasn't sure if it was because he was a complete idiot, or if he really wanted to annoy her right now. What kind of world was it when a pregnant lioness couldn't get a well-deserved nap? True, she was being snarky, but with a belly full of little ones, anyone was likely to be grumpy and irritable.
"I'm sure you didn't," she said sarcastically, stopping herself short of rolling her eyes. She typically was much nicer and had a better control on her emotions and impulses, but nothing seemed quite as controllable with her hormones all out of balance. "You need guidance in life, in your desires and impulses, not in the physical sense," she tilted her chin up a little as she spoke, feeling a little more like her old self as she began her tirade. "Don't get wise with me," she warned, narrowing amber eyes on him, "you know precisely what I meant."

It was becoming glaringly obvious to Misri that he wasn't going to get anything out of this lioness - not a nuzzle, or a cuddle (both of which he enjoyed nearly as much as his more.. 'active' hobbies). He supposed that a pregnant lioness was just a different breed and he, honestly, would have loved to have come across her when she didn't have a belly full of cubs toying with her emotions. He supposed she must have been grand - especially if someone else had already seen to spawning with her.
"Maybe I do," he said with a defeated shrug, though his eyes were gleaming with amusement as he looked down upon her, "but you can't change desires, no matter how much guidance you think to give out. Sometimes, a rogue is a rogue, and that's all he'll ever be." A mischievous grin flashed over his maw as he said so, brows rising just slightly. Oh, but he was a playful one.

She couldn't help it - that flash of deviousness in his eyes, the mischievous grin on his maw, it caused her to smile despite her best efforts to remain cold and condescending towards him. Ah, but he was good for laughs! That, indeed, she could use a little more of right now.
"Well," she managed past her grin, shaking her head at her own broken defense, "if you do not seek guidance, then there is nothing here for me to offer you." It was a truth she knew, for she'd not give him anything but that which she was trained for - guidance. "As amusing as this chat has been, I implore you, let a weary lioness rest." This time, her smile faded, and she seemed quite sincere in her request. She was tired and the pride was a long way off yet. She had to make it in time.

The breakdown of her cold facade was all he really needed to satisfy him. Despite what she believed, he really did enjoy a good conversation and this one had been no less than amusing. He could walk away feeling like it wasn't a total waste of time, and that he hadn't had quite all of his dignity stripped away by her sharp tongue.
"Alright, miss," he said with a bow of his head, chuckling softly beneath his breath as he did so. "Simply because you ask so nicely, I'll take my leave of you." He turned away then, tail twitching behind him as he did so. "Have a nice rest, and good fortune to you on your travels." He still wasn't sure what a pregnant lioness was doing out here all by herself, but he wished her the best of luck in whatever she was doing.

"And may you find a little guidance, whether or not you seek it," she called to him as he began to saunter off. She would need all the luck she could get, she knew, with making it to her long-dead pride safely and before she went into labor. She was determined though, and she knew she could do anything that she set her mind to. His well-wishes weren't going to be dismissed, though.
With a sigh of relief and exhaustion, the white lioness finally lay her head back down upon her forepaws. At least, now, she could get a little sleep.
