Eusi trotted along the unmade path with a smile. So far, the day had gone by pretty well. She had caught a nice rabbit for breakfast/lunch, and although it had been quite a filling meal, her stomach was beginning to make the sounds of hunger again. She wasn't quite sure whether she should wait 'til morning for another hunt or go ahead and obey her tummy's request for more nourishment.
She decided to go with the latter.
Her smart nose quickly found a relatively low-to-the-ground nest of birds, and she sat in waiting. Her orange eyes gleamed in the dimming sunlight. Soon, the mother or father bird would fly back to the chicks. And that's when she would catch them.
Bird for dinner. Yum.

Which worked out well for the timid dog even though he was rather large. The scars he wore on his legs and on his side... they were evidence enough that he wouldn't be going and running around like a maniac much in his life anymore. A far cry from the once attitude laden wild dog that had walked the savannah just LOOKING for trouble to pop his way.
Even though he was skiddish and always ready for something to come around that would harm him again, Raff's ears didn't pick up the sound of the other wild dog that was creeping steadily closer to the bird's nest at his back. Had he been in any other kind of mood rather than tired he might have noticed, but he was half asleep and just dank in mood and spirit because his leg was bothering him for the coolness of that morning.

Eusi slowly crept down to the ground, a bit of a ways from the bush itself. She wanted to sneak up on the birds, not let them know that she was lying in wait. Of course.
Her eyes watched the sky, and soon enough, a small figure fluttered her way, passing above with no sign of knowing she was there. Then again, she didn't know there was another of her kind right on the other side of that bush, either. Her hind legs tensed underneath her. The bird landed in its nest, fed its chicks, and prepared to fly away.
Once it was about half a foot away from its home, she leapt.
And missed.
Instead of snatching the bird like she had hoped, she actually ended up in the bush itself. She yelped, surprised, and twisted around. The birds nest was on the far end, so she hadn't hit it. Which was good; she didn't want to do that.
But now she was stuck. Blinking, she realized that there was a wild dog in front of her. She gave a sheepish smile at first.
"Sorry to bust in like this, but I was wondering if you happened to know how to free a wild dog from a bush?"
