(I hope I'm posting in the most correct place)

Well, I've finally decided to start learning Spanish again after falling in love with South America. I have taken Spanish I and II in school (but only studied it halfheartedly), and now am in Spanish III (after having a year of no Spanish) and want to fully devote myself to learning the language.

I looked at my local Barnes & Noble to try to find a Spanish book that suited me, but GUESS WHAT? They had ONE SHELF of Spanish books. And the only ones that interested me were The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, but I couldn't find the prices on them.

So I'm turning here for advice: I'm looking for a Spanish book that would have an English counterpart-- preferably one that I've already read, but it's not a requirement. That way I can compare the two, and if I get stuck, I'll have a reference.

I looked up the Spanish versions of Harry Potter, but a lot of people said they were translated badly... so I dunno. Any input is loved. n__n

First of all, do NOT buy your books from those stores! Before you go there, save your wallet a slam and shop at Amazon.com

I have been buying all my books from there for 3 years now and have never been happier. I get books there for $3.00 that are $22.00 in the stores

Moving on along x3

I guess you're looking for fun books..hrrmm..

I thought Harry Potter y la Piedra Filosofal was fun to read, which is Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone.

I also have El Amor en los Tiempos del cólera' which is Love in the Time of Cholera in Spanish ^^

And finally i have Memorias de una Geisha which is Memoirs of a Geisha :]

Oh, I normally would use Amazon... but I have giftcards. Lots of giftcards that have accumulated over the years and are sitting in my wallet, crying "spend me! spend me!" And I don't want to ignore their cries any longer. D: But I don't have to buy these at a store, since their Spanish section is so limited (which is strange, because there are a lot of Spanish-speaking people where I live.)

Those books seem like they'd work- I did see Memorias de una Geisha at the store, but not the other two. Which I can't believe they wouldn't have. Srsly like half the books there were self-help books.

Oh i believe you, i've ventured into the barren Spanish language section.

Even in Georgia, with all the hispanics it's still such a small section.
I asked a worker at Wal-mart why such a small section, and his reply was 'I guess it's their swift way of saying learn English or GTFO'

I was sooooooooo appalled stare
