Aww man, that sucks sad My commet died just a few weeks before I moved out of the house. Had her for 4 years. Not long really given the age golds can get. But she did have a close encounter with the lightbank once, which gave her spine a deformity. I buried her in the backyard sweatdrop
How do you mean saved him out of a trashcan? Literaly? eek

Goldfish need 10 gallons PER fish when they are 3 inches and smaller. Common and comet goldfish get 12-24 inches long and have lifespans of 20-30 yrs when they are properly cared for. They also need alot of filtration because they are extremely dirty. He probably would have survived if he wasnt kept in a tiny 5 gallon.

I think 5 gallons was pretty good considering she didn't exactly go out and buy the fish. Goldie was lucky that the OP had a bleeding heart and took the poor thing home in the first place. xD Though if it were me I'd find a big plastic 10 or 20 gallon tub and keep him in there. You can pick them up at walmart for a few bucks. (I did that with my first goldfish after I realized my tiny goldfish fry was growing up and that he had a life span WAY longer than 2 weeks o.o)

Well honestly. I didn't have the means to do that. I thought a 5 gallon tank was better then dieing in a trashcan. So i dunno.
