What do you believe contributed to the reason(s) that Dance Dance Revolution isn't as or near as popular as it was 4 years ago? Is it cause of all the cheap and easily put together expansions? Or because of Guitar Hero and Rockband? Discuss how you feel about this.

Guitar Hero basically took any of DDR's prospective male audience, as it combines two of the average teen male's favorite activities: "rockin' out" and "sitting on your a**".
Aside from that, poor marketing, subpar (yet lately-improving) production values, and the fact that what fanbase there is just isn't what it used to be.

I actually have Guitar Hero, I'm in the guild and everything, but I still love DDR, and nothing shall change that exclaim xd It is sad though. But I have none of the expansions, and i think that's a big reason as well. I know that at least if I walk into an arcade, than I would choose the DDR machine over a Guitar Hero machine any day!!!! biggrin

Isn't there supposed to be a new DDR game coming out in which you can play your own songs? If so, it could be just the defibrillator DDR needs.

Quint B. ..oh. Uh, is there a program that does it? You can hack new songs into ITG, but that's about it. DDR's encryption is too ******** up to be worth the effort haha.

They should focus on making a game with well put together songs. Get rid of the absolutely stupid features in the past couple games. But we all should have known after they released DDR Mario mix they were gonna go down hill...

xp I was at the arcade yesterday. You use to have people waiting and taking turns to play. But not anymore, you could have that machine to yourself for hours.

They are making made Dance Dance Revolution X. With.....wait for it..........a story mode.
Yeah, also I'm betting it will be the final DDR. But it apparently will have a Arcade version.
Not like there are that many versions of even Supernova out there.
