It was bright out--blindingly so. It hurt his eyes, stung his face, but he loved it. Pressed himself to those golden rays like they were a love once lost. This was freedom, once again, and the scent on the wind was rich with all the old smells of home, other creatures, life. It seemed an age since he'd set foot here, long ago abandoning this place (though not of his choice). Being back now...it hurt, and felt good all at once. His heart wanted to break with longing and sorrow for time and life lost, but he hardenend himself to it. There were other matters more pressing than mourning.

Hak'Zhakuu was a blue ripple on the vast tawny sea of grass. He made his way with purpose, but a certain air of relaxation, showing he was not running away from anything. Save perhaps that blinding sunlight. It had been a boon at first, but now it stung his sensitive eyes, and he halted his travel to recline a spell at the base of a grove of trees. Ahh. They reeked of lions. Healthy, fat, well-to-do folks too, if his nose was to be trusted. That was good. That was what he needed.

Siti sat perched in her tree looking over the grasses where the sun touched everything and warmed the earth. She was feeling rather restless and wishing there was something to entertain her on such a lovely day. Another feline to chat with or even some prey to hunt. Siti turned in her tree and suddenly her eyes caught the most stunning lion she had ever seen.

He was blue with the most amazing markings Siti had ever seen and she nearly fell from the branches stretching to get a good look. "Woah," she said trying to situate herself up in the branches. Once she was situated again she realized she had disappeared and she wondered if he was a ghost. Then she noticed the glowing marks and they were right below her tree. Siti could not help but stare. He was very unique.

Hak'Zhakuu's ear twitched, catching a rustling noise. It was for too heavy to be any bird...another lion? A gust of wind proved his thought true, carrying the lioness's scent down to his nose. He shifted his paws a bit a stared at them, smiling faintly. Was he ready to make contact again? He'd have to sooner or later, and one lone lion would be better than suddenly facing down a whole pride. But then, he was Hak'Zhakuu. He had no fear, or at least, he had no need to.

He stretched languidly and flicked his tail. He cocked his head to one side and smiled up at the watching Siti. "My dear madame, why not come down? I doubt the tree would hold us both, and I fear I may be unable to go one properly introducing myself in such an improper manner. I shouldn't like you to think me so very rude. Though of course, should you prefer, I will happily greet you from below." His words were laced with a subtle accent, barely distinguishable, but enough to mark him as someone travelled and worldly. And his manners left no doubt about his character. He was a gentlelion from the start, it seemed.

Siti lept from the tree with agile grace, landing perfectly a foot of from Hak. She turned and faced him, then bowed. "You have been a gentlelion thus far, I shant think rude of you. My name is Nabila Siti and I am pleased to meet you." Siti was happy to meet another lion who had manner and seemed very refined. Although she was a rogue and not of any pride as of yet.

Therefore it was not often she met another who was so refined. She lept from tree and enjoyed being a happy talkative lion, but she was going to enjoy this conversation, this chance at new friendship. She was sure of it. "May I have the honor of knowing your name? You are a rather stunning lion and I have not seen another like you. Maybe you are a traveler."

Hak'Zhakuu managed not to startle when Siti landed so close. It was as he'd thought. A lioness, and a rather noble one at that. Some part of him stirred at her words, and he realized, distantly, that he was glad to be back among others of his kind and nature. "My gratitude is yours, my lady," He rose to his feet then dipped in a bow of sorts. "Nabila Siti. A fine name indeed. And I can assure you, the pleasure is mine. I am...Hak'Zhakuu." He admitted after a moment of what almost seemed like thought. But it had taken only that moment, and he seemed sure of his words after.

He dipped again in response to Siti's praise, a rich laugh slipping from his lips. "To hear such words of praise from a fine lady does my heart good. I am indeed a traveller, a mere bumpkin from far to the east. I've come to these lands to see what I can make of myself."

Siti smiled as the male bowed to her, she was enjoying his refined manners. He was a gentlelion and it was a nice change. "Hak'Zhakuu, is a very nice name. Per chance do you know what it means?" Siti sat down gracefully and looked over the male yet again, she did not think him to be a bumkin but it was his own opinion and she let it be.

"There is much to these lands, jungles, mountains, grasslands and much more. I often here about different prides in many area and even new prides forming. You yourself look and seem as though you would make a great leader for a pride. It would be quite a sight to see a group of highly civilized lions living on the lands. I would mostly certainly enjoy it."

Hak nodded along with her words and relaxed his stance a bit under her praise. "It sounds like the land is a true gift from the Gods. My homeland was not so kind, all rocks and barren, desolate fields. I did as I could there, but I eventually found the need to leave it. I am sad to say I do not yearn to return there any time soon." It seemed a cruel thing to say to him, that he didn't want to return to those lands ever. It had been...not exactly his home, but where he had been, for a time, and he should be connected in some way to it. But all he felt when he thought about it was cold distaste and bitter anger.

A second laugh escaped him and he glowed in response to being told he should lead. "Do I now? You would know better than I." He nodded again, humble, not wanting to show how much he secretly agreed. "What of you? You seem a fine lioness. Surely you are part of some pride in the area. If not I should be shocked! You seem so capable, I mean."

Siti frowned at the description of Hak's home, it did not seem like a wonderful place to live. "Yes these lands are plentiful, we who live here are rather fortunate. Your homeland does not seem like a very wonderful place to live. I am sure you are glad to be here where there is plenty to see, as well as, to eat and drink. I most certainly can understand, your having no desire to return."

Siti smiled as Hak glowed at her comment, "Yes you do, very much so." Siti nodded to Hak, but frowned slightly when he asked her a similar question. "I have no pride, I was born a rogue and orphaned as a cub. I am, however, looking for a pride. I would like to settle down and raise cub soon. It is difficult because I would like a pride in an area with many trees."

Siti smiled at Hak, "It pleases me, that you think me capable though."

Ahh...He could certainly sympathize with Siti's desires for home and family. An old flame flickered to life in his eyes, lighting them from within. He had once dreamed of such a life. When his home had been one lush and rife with promise. To take a mate, build a life together through honest hardworking. But it had been not to be, and she had been torn from him prematurely, along with his fertile home. The fire in his eyes faded and died, and he blinked, surprised to find the old wound was not buried as deep as he'd thought. A frown flicked over his face and was gone as he came back to the now.

"I have heard of wooded lands to the south and west. Have you seen them? There are few trees where I am from, so I had thought of visiting them. From what I hear it would be something you could like." He smiled and paused to toss back a few bits of his mane that had strayed loose into his face. "I am sure that you will be gladly accepted into any pride you would choose to join."

Siti watched as Hak seemed to drift off from the conversation only to come back just a few moments later. It confused Siti and she wondered what he had been thinking about, but let her curiosity die thinking that is was not her place to pry. Siti thought on the geography of the lands, but she could not say she had heard of the wooded lands south and west. "No I have not heard of them."

"I have been to the jungle once, but that was because I was lost, but I did meet some rather interesting lions in the jungle. They like to climb just like I." Siti smiled. "I think I would like the wooded area, I would have many places to climb." Siti watches as Hak freed his face of a few strands of fur from his mane. "Thank you, I really so hope that I am accepted."

"I think that if you do not create your own pride, that you would be excepted anywhere with open arms too. However, if you do create your own pride I hope to come visit." Thinking on prides, Siti wandered if Hak had family and decided to ask. "Did you leave no family back in you homelands?"

Hak nodded. The jungles sounded like what he'd heard of, but perhaps located elsewhere. Lions climbed, but few loved it with the passion Siti seemed to display. A whole pride living in the trees would be something to see, once he'd done what he'd come to do.

Her question about his family brought a frown to his face, though it was not one of anger. "No. I left no one and nothing behind me there." His fords were cold, rigid, but he shok himself from that place shortly. He had not been gifted with the joy of a family. Nor friends. Once upon a time he'd had them both, but now, thanks to the actions of those so called friends, he had neither. That was not something he wanted to dwell on now, let alone speak about.

"No, I rather came to seek a family than to leave one. I'm hoping to find someplace...a place I remember once, from long ago. If I find it, I'd like to settle there."

Siti was taken aback by Hak's words when he answered her, she even shivered a bit. She quickly decided that family was not a subject to dwell. Siti was glad when his words seemed less harsh again and she found herself relaxing once again. She had not even realized that she had tensed up. She sighed thinking it must be hard not to know where your family was.

It was hard for her knowing she was the only one of her mother's litter to survive the storm when she was a cub. She had lost her sibling, or at least she thought she had and her mother had died. " I wish you all the luck in the lands with finding your family and finding the place you once remember. I am sure you will find it. I will help you in any way that I can. That's what friends right?"

Hak nodded, his face showing plainly his gratitude for such kindness. "I would be glad of you help. Perhaps you could point me in the right direction? It has been...far too many years, and the lands have changed. I fear I'm rather lost as it is." Truthfully he didn't feel ready to travel constantly with anyone just yet, but he couldn't deny her aid. All he neded were directions, and he'd be well off. And besides...he didn't want anyone to be there when he met up with his 'family' again.

Siti smiled and stood before bowing to Hak. "I would be glad to give you directions, however, I need for you to describe the area to me and I should be able to point you in the right direction." Siti was happy to have met such a nice lion, but she did not want to keep him from his journey and she certainly did not want him to get anymore lost. She just hoped his home was in an area she traveled.
