When the young lioness had first begun her journey, never had she imagined that she would be traveling out so distantly. The further out she got, the more surprised she was that she even continued.

Crossing small cliffs, she found herself looking across a rather beautiful cove. Mercury hues widened slightly in delighted surprise as they traveled quickly over the thick jungle terrain.

She'd yet to really enter in to an area with so many trees, and with a bright smile, she carefully made her way back down the other side of the cliff to take a closer look, and rest her paws a while in the comfortable shade.

Having not crossed the path of many, and having been raised in the captivity of the strange two-legged creatures, there was no hesitation in Makhi's step. No worry that she may be entering in to another's territory. She knew very little of things like Prides. She knew even less of danger.

Never had she been attacked by something anywhere near her own size. The naive, and friendly lioness was not the least bit weary of encountering others within the jungle area.

It was long past time to go, Ilori knew that. Sepoko must have tried to wake him up a dozen or so times... but after Ilori had complained and moaned enough, his lover had just laughed and gone off to find something to eat. Now Ilori was awake... maybe Sepoko was trying to get a better feeling of where they were going. That made more sense, really. Heading back towards home, not Ilori's, but rather Sepoko's... Ilori's soon-to-be home. A peaceful home.... somewhere he didn't have to fight anymore.

He stood up and stretched out, wincing a little over his now-weeks old wounds. Still... they had only recently healed. He had to keep moving though... Sepoko was letting him get away with way too much because he had been hurt. He needed to find a way to pay him back somehow... He was sure he would find something. Something to unite them as a family, for good... The very idea made him feel chipper.

It was around them that he spotted a lioness on the other side of the small stream he drank from. He smiled and waved, good-natured as always, despite how often this tended to lead him to ruin. It had also led him to the one lion he wanted to be with forever, "Hello there!"

The female's ears perked curiously at the call, and she looked out over the stream, offering the lion a smile.

" Hello. " Came her soft reply as she turned toward the water, moving closer to him in curiosity. Though, as she got closer, her look trned to one of worry, and she moved easily through the water, across to the male.

" Are you alright..? " She asked as she looked over the old, yet painful looking wounds. It didn't matter that she'd only just met him, and had no idea who he was. She had a very motherly streak in her, causing instant care and worry for any she crossed paths with.

And now, that worry was directed to the much larger creature beside her.

Ilori blinked and glanced at his wounds. He guessed they did still look a little bad... "Oh, I'm fine, don't worry, just resting." He promised, giving her a reassuring look, "I'm really fine, it's been a while since I was injured, promise. I just slept in you could say..." He patted the spot next to him, "Feel free to sit down if you want to take a rest though. No good being lonely when one can have company."

A true fact... and until Sepoko got back, lonely was one thing he was almost certain to be. It was so odd how being away from his mate did that more than being away from his family did... He supposed that was part of love. But this lioness seemed to be quite friendly, and he always welcomed company, for he had always been a very social lion...

...so long as he didn't have to move around to be social anyway...

She gave the wounds one last worried glance before slowly settling down beside him with a soft smile. " True enough, travel is often much nicer when you have some company.. Are you just passing through as well, or do you live near here? " She asked the lion curiously as she shifted down to rest on her stomach against the warm ground.

She was actually quite glad she had come across such a nice creature here. She had been getting some-what discouraged since it had been so long since she last game across anyone. Her journey could hardly be called a productive one if she couldn't find any people to speak with!

Mercury eyes she a long moment before snapping open as if startled. Quickly she looked back up to him. " Oh! I'm so sorry, where are my manners..? My name is Madhu-Makhi. " She said with that same cheerful smile. " Though, I usually am simply called Makhi. "

"Hum... I don't live here exactly. You could say that my mate and I are heading... well, we're going home, even though I've never been there before." Ilori said with a small smile, "I can hardly wait to see it though... it's near the sea, and up until now, I've lived in the desert... What about you, where are you headed?" He asked her, tilting his head curiously.

He was happy to come across another friendly lioness as well. After all, he knew very well that some creatures could be cruel, no matter how pleasent you were to them. This lioness was nothing like that, he could tell. It was always easier to be optamistic when you had someone to do it with. And besides, Sepoko would be pleased that he had met a friend!

He laughed a little, "Don't waste manners on me, clearly I don't have any either." He smiled, "I'm very pleased to meet you Makhi, I'm Ilori... but Sepoko calls me Lori... well... sometimes my parents called me that too... Anyway, you can call me Lori if you want." He said with a large grin. His name was already so short... it always amused him when other lions found ways to make it even shorter!

She let out a light chuckle as well, head tilting curiously as she listened to his words. " Lori... It's a pleasure to meet you as well. "

With a thoughtful humm, she looked down to the stream in front of them. " I say I'm traveling... But I guess it cant really be called that. It's more like wandering. I've been rather lost in this world ever since I escaped in to it. " Her head lifted once more to look around the area. " I guess you could say I'm trying to see everything that I'd been missing, so I'm not really headed to any specific place. "

" Hmm, Sepoko..? Is that the name of your mate? " She asked, eyes finally returning to him once more. She was always very curious, and loved to learn about different people she came across so much more than she loved seeing new lands.

The other lions, especially, caught her interest. They all had such very different stories. She had never met another before her escape. They were certainly nothing like herself.

"Always a pleasure to meet new friends." Ilori agreed, smiling back at her, glad that his rambling hadn't bothered her. It did, with some people. He did have an odd tendancy to think out loud...

"Escaped into it? That's an interesting way of putting it..." Ilori mentioned thoughtfully, "I wandered when I was a cub, with my family, before we finally settled down in the desert. But I guess I'm on the move again, but this will probably be the last move I make." He admitted, "My wandering days are done once Sepoko takes me back with him... I can't say I'm not happier for it." He said, a dreamy look on his face.

He nodded, "Yes, he is." He said, not thinking twice about it, "He and I sort of... wound up destined for each other." He admitted with a slow smile, "And now he's run off without waking me up to help him hunt again... he can be awfully silly sometimes. Worries too much about me." Ilori sighed a little, but he didn't look unhappy in the slightest, "What about you? Do you have anyone special?"

The rambling didn't bother her in the least. After all, it was hard to complain about something she did herself. It was quite nice to find someone so similar.

" Well, it was an escape.. " She said a bit thoughtfully, thinking on how to put it. Reaching a paw down, she began drawing in the dirt with one claw. It was a stick-figure, at best, but it gave a general idea of the human shape. " Until I left, I had never met another lion.. For all I knew, I had been the only one of my kind. I was raised by these strange two-legged animals. I could never really understand what they were saying, but they were nice. "

She sighed a bit, shaking her head. " They provided food, and everything, so I never really learned how to be a lion. I was sealed in there, but I had been happy. Had quite the difficult time when I finally got out. I'm still rather bad at hunting. " She grinned sheepishly.

Her ears perked, head tilting thoughtfully. " He...? " She asked in confusion as she stared up to him. Slowly, her head tilted the other way. Really, she had thought she was beginning to understand the others of her kind, but it seemed she was still quite off! It seemed like a rude question to ask, but... " Are.. males able to get pregnant too? "
PostPosted: Thu Sep 11, 2008 2:30 pm

"Really? Two legged animals? Like birds?" Ilori asked, tilting his head to the side, "Like... a bird?" He asked, trying to think of animals that only moved on two legs. He had never seen one before... it was an odd thing to picture... Equally as strange as never seeing another lion! How remarkable.

Ilori smiled at her, "Well, you seem to be doing alright to me." He looked down at the picture, "What strange looking animals they must have been... especially if you couldn't understand them. I'm glad they were kind to you though. I'm certain they meant no harm." He said kindly, looking back down, "I wouldn't worry, you'll find your way. Everyone does."

Ilori blinked, suprised by the question, "Well... no, I don't think so... I mean... I've never seen a male get pregnant before..." He thought hard on this, "I never really thought about it... I mean. I just love him... I don't really... Well..." Now he had confused himself. Cubs? He had always wanted to be a dad, but obviously, he and Sepoko could not have cubs. They were both boys, after all.

She let loose a laugh quckily shaing her head. " No, no! Not at all bird-like. They had no feathers. Nor did they have fur! It was quite strange! They only had the slightest of mane on the tops of their heads. Some of them also had a bit of fur around their mouths. But not a single one was the same. Rather than fur, they wore strange clothe..." She shook her head a bit, tilting it to the side. The creatures really were beyond strange.

" They were kind... I felt no fear around them. Still, after meeting a creature from the outside.. I could not spend the rest of my life there. I wanted to see more. " He smiled, tail swishing out behind her happily. To share her story of the strange creatures. To learn things of other lions and places. This is what she wanted.

Her ears perked forward lightly, head tilting for one side, then slowly to the other. " Oh! What a relief. " She murmured, ears flatting again, body slumping. " I may as well have been told the sea was sand. " She chuckled, having gotten herself quite confused a moment.

" .. Oh! " Her eyes went wide, ears perking again. " That was horrible of me to say. I'm sorry, Lori.. "

"Clothes?" Ilori wondered. They sounded so... wierd looking, he could barely picture them. "Like... what some lions find? Items that don't make any sense?" He had seen some when he had lived with his parents, with the Dawn Walkers... but never before had he ever witnessed the beings who owned the bizar items, or made them. He couldn't even think of how one would go about making such things.

"Yeah... there's a lot to see out here." He agreed, thinking back to when he had traveled with his parents as a child. It had been so different than traveling with Sepoko now... but that was alright. He had always been happy with his mother, father and brother... but this was a different kind of happiness. One that he hoped would never go away.

Ilori smiled a little, never one to hold a grudge, "It's alright... it was... strange, at first, I guess... But I've never thought too hard on why it happened. I just love him... That's all I need to know." He looked a little sad though, "Still... he would have made a good father..." But Ilori wasn't a female... nor was Sepoko. He supposed it was their destiny to just have each other... but... still... he wished there were a way for them to have children. Even though he knew there wasn't.

" Yes, rather like that, but across their entire body. " Though she hadn't met many other creatures since getting free, she had seen a few who wore things similar to the humans. Somehow she thought that they, perhaps, had gotten such influances from the humans, but there was no real way to tell.

She lowered her head in though a moment before it shot back up, ears, perked, a happy smile on her face. " Well. It's not as if he cant still be a father, Lori. There are always cubs, I'm sure, in need of homes. " She nods a bit, sitting up. " Better yet, there would surely be females willing to help you make a family of your own blood lines. If someone asked me to bear children for them and there male mate, atleast I would be happy to. "

Her ears twitched a bit, a habit of thought. She really was nieve to the nature of most others in there world. She had never met a bad person. She had no idea how generous her offer really was. " I'm sure there would be others willing to do so as well. "

"Wow..." Ilori mentioned, "I've never seen anything like that before! Just some old relics that the old leader of my pride used to wear..." He couldn't imgine that wearing those EVERYWHERE could possibly be comfortable... really.

Ilori's ears perked up at the prospect, "Really? Do you really think so?" He couldn't imagine cubs not having homes... but he supposed that accidents happened and lions dies sometimes, leaving their children alone... which was a shame. He would have gladly taken in a cub in need, if he had found one.

Then his face brightened more, "Do you really think so? That I could find someone who would give let Sepoko and I have children?" He couldn't believe how much he was smiling so much now. A second ago, he had thought it impossible... but maybe... just maybe, there was someone out there who would help Sepoko and him...

He reached out and took his new friend's paws in his, smiling brightly at her, "Makhi... can I ask you a huge favor?" He knew it was a lot to ask... But she was so pretty, and had been so kind to him. A dream he had never thought would come true suddenly could, "Can you and I have cubs so that Sepoko can be a dad?"

Though she had said she would be willing to do just a thing just seconds ago, the question still took her by surprise. Ears perked, mercury eyes blinking in confusion at him a moment, before finally a soft smile graced her.

" I would be honored if you're sure you really want me to birth them. And if Sepoko agrees as well.. I dont want to upset him. " She grinned, head lifting up, teeth taking a hold of Ilori's ear to tug playfully. " You'll both make such wonderful fathers... "
