collab with the kirby (for the details), my friend (concept and sketch) and i (rendering). i have had a small break of free time to use for personal work so i completed this. bg are actually different images from NASA that i put together in photoshop.

I especially love the texture on the ribbon tied stars.

Her skin stands boldly out as the only untextured surface. Not necessarily a bad thing but I think she would look nice with a shimmer.

slopii do have a point, but in my view, the skin just looks too flat. I think that wonderful background make sit look even flatter than it is. Adding some shadow maybe?
Otherwise quite darling picture you have there. :B

sometimes i like to go with the adage that if everything is exaggerated then nothing is, so i like to put less importance in things that i feel shouldn't be the focal point. that doesn't mean that i didn't give it a try, but after doing initial shading on the skin i felt that it was an unnecessary detail and felt too distracting for the over all piece. i wanted the hair and and bg to have more of a focal point so i placed less emphasis on the rendering of the skin. that and i really didn't want to go overboard with the effects, something that i'm generally wont to do biggrin

but thanks for the comments, it's something for me to keep in mind :3

I understand what you are saying completely but by being so smooth next to everything else the skin stand out the most in my opinion. Maybe making her skin a little darker would blend it a bit further away.

It's still lovely, the best bit is the star on her clothes because the light it emits seems warm and homely compared to the ethereal lights of the stars

I like the skin the way it is. If it's too textured, it'll be in a complete mess of texturing and I wouldn't be able to see the woman as clearly.

On a second look, her outstretched arm is SUPER to long.

yep, these were things i also noticed when i was refining the lines. but one of the things that i try to do when i'm collaborating with someone is to leave a lot of their stuff intact, and this includes things that may be 'wrong' in the sense that it might not be true to form or anatomically correct. i include them in to keep with their style and their artistic idiosyncrasies since those are what i enjoy. if i fiddled with everything then i feel it would no longer be a collaboration but more me and what i would like and/or feel is correct :3 and if i wanted to do that then i'd much rather save that for something that i would exclusively work on.

i know it may sound like i'm coming up with excuses for every flaw and/or 'mistake' but a lot of these were a judgment call on my part when i was working on it. the arm thing, for example, i consciously left because i know that the artist loves long skinny limbs. i felt it was too long and if it was mine i'd probably shorten it but if it's an ideal from someone else's view and perspective i would rather keep it. kinda like when people look in the mirror and notice different areas about themselves that they love or hate; oftentimes it's reflected in their work so i keep them :3 but i still do appreciate and welcome comments :3
