Edit: The test is done! Part 2 is started, though people can still jump in. You may now highlight posts and put in your reasonings in public! My post is on the bottom of page 2. Based on this new information, how do your views change, if at all? :3
All right, there's some special rules in this case, and in this topic, but I would like as many people as possible in the guild to take the test. :3 This is a moral test as well as a psychological one, and I just want to see where we all stand. There's two main things I want you to follow:
1. Read the prompt. After you do so, type up the five characters' names in order of most offensive (1) to the least offensive (5) characters. Do this in one post, in white font. We'll use the honor system, here- do not look at the answers that other people have written! That's important. If you want to type up your reasoning today, feel free to type in white.
Edits will be monitored. Just type it right the first time, or I'll suspect cheating. Do not discuss these with anyone else.
2. Tomorrow, after we get at least three responses to the name lists, I want to know why. biggrin The lists can be revealed, and I'll do an analysis based on different things. You'll see. :3
--------------------
Prompt: Alligator River Story
Once upon a time, there was a woman named Abigail who was in love with a man named Gregory. Gregory lived on the shore of the river and Abigail lived on the opposite shore of the river. The river that separated the two lovers was teeming with man-eating alligators. Abigail wanted to cross the river to be with her beloved Gregory. Unfortunately, the bridge had been washed out. She was wearing a tight skirt and a low-cut blouse because she wanted to look sexy for Gregory. Sinbad, the ferry captain, said that he would take her across- however, the look in his eyes frightened her. Ivan, a close friend of Abigail's did not want to be involved at all in the situation. Abigail felt that her only alternative was to take the ferry, even though she did not trust Sinbad.
After leaving the river shore, Sinbad told Abigail that he couldn't control himself and had to go to bed with her. When Abigail refused, he threatened to throw her overboard. He also said that if she did what he wanted, he would deliver her safely to the other side. Abigail was afraid of being eaten alive by the alligators, and didn't see any other alternative for herself, so she did not resist Sinbad.
When Abigail told Gregory about what had happened to her, he viewed her as asking for it because of the way she was dressed. He saw her as unclean and cast her aside with disdain. Heartsick and dejected, she turned to Slug, who happened to have a black belt in karate. Slug felt anger at Gregory and compassion for Abigail. He sought out Gregory and beat him brutally. Abigail was overjoyed at the sight of Gregory getting his just due. As the sun set on the horizon, we hear Abigail laughing at Gregory.

1. Sinbad: For not being able to be a polite man and escort a lady across a simple river. 2. Gregory: For not going across the river himself, making his supposed lover cross the river by herself, and casting her away after she is raped. 3. Abigail: For dressing like a slut and sending her friend to beat up her ex. 4. Slug: For beating up Gregory instead of Sinbad. 5. Ivan: He didn't really do anything wrong. Pretty smart for not getting involved.

1. Abigail 2. Sinbad 3. Gregory 4. Slug 5. Ivan
1. Abigail could have put on modest clothing underneath her sexy clothing, and Sinbad probably wouldn't have looked twice at her. She doesn't seem to be able to think of second options (I could wait for the river to ice over, I could find a bridge...). She kind of DID ask for it by dressing promiscuously (though I'm not saying it was RIGHT for Sinbad to have done what he did; the only thing that means consent to sex is... well, full consent to sex), and then basically went to a man that could physically harm someone who was simply keeping his morals. Then she laughed when he was getting the crap beaten out of him. She seemed violent, kind of slutty, and weak-minded. 2. Sinbad is basically a rapist, and threatens to kill her. He does get a few points for taking her over to the other side of the river, however, that much is true. He told her he would take her over, and he stayed true to his word. 3. Gregory didn't deserve to get beaten up the way he did by a man who technically didn't have any difficulties with him. What Gregory did was dump his girlfriend, and that's not worth getting beaten so badly. However, he dumped her BECAUSE of what happened to her, and if he was truly compassionate, he would have comforted her. He didn't seem to love her once something bad had happened to her and she wanted help. 4. Slug is defending a woman's honor. He feels sorry for Abigail and wants to make things feel better for her, which is just fine. He shouldn't have gone about it by beating the crap out of Gregory; I mean, shouting at him would have accomplished the same and Gregory wouldn't have been mauled. For his information, he could be arrested because he attacked first. 5. Ivan is Abigail's friend. He was worried for her, but he didn't get involved. He didn't do anything WRONG, per se, but he should have tried to warn her. However, the others actively DID do something morally wrong, so Ivan gets the least-questionable spot.
TL;DR EXPLANATIONS YAY!

1. Abigail (Shouldn't have got revenge for something this stupid.) 2. Slug (He's a blackbelt, that's against honor to seek battle.) 3. Ol' Greg (He acted stupidly. He saw it as that, but if she's willing to do that to get to him, he shouldn't hold it against her.) 4. Sinbad (He threatened, but I think it was only to get what he wanted. She consented, therefore, it's on her head.) 5. Ivan (Sure, he's a douche and not looking out for his friend, but if you want nothing to do with something, there you go.)

Oh gosh, this is hard. D;
1. Sinbad 2. Gregory 3. Abigail 4. Slug 5. Ivan
I am rather biased, but this is my own opinion, after all.
SINBAD:
I really detest rapists. For one, the very fact that he only raped her was because of the way she was dressed is very very sickening. Sure, it was really showy and yes, I don't agree on such attire, but because a woman decides to dress however she wanted to [and for her... boyfriend], doesn't mean that she invites herself to rapists. For goodness sakes, I don't go rape some random guy I deem is sexy! We all have a freedom to dress the way we want, so why can't she?
GREGORY: I'm not sure this guy was really serious about Abigail. I don't see him making the effort to see her! He didn't even comfort his girlfriend and instead, blames on the way she was dressed, which was for him. Many women want to dress appealingly to their partners. It breaks my heart that he thinks she's 'unclean' and just... casts her out like that when she needs the support.
ABIGAIL: Yes, she is stupid for going on a boat with someone she thought was suspicious, but her compassion for seeing her partner overcame that fear. She could have covered herself up with a coat or something before riding it. I can't wholly blame her for the rape, though, because as I said before, we all have a right to wear what we want. But the fact that she went out to get revenge irked me a bit. She was scorned, but laughing from the beating of her boyfriend irked me.
SLUG: Instead of slugging out the guy, he could have comforted Abigail. Clearly, he'd rather sock someone rather then talk it out or find other means of justice.
Ivan: Well, as a 'close friend', he could have helped out, but he had no big obligation to.
Geez, I suck.

Kurai, this is cool! :3
1. Sinbad: He's the reason all this happened. To threaten someone with murder via alligator only because she didn't want to sleep with him is stupid, and cruel. HE should've been beaten by Slug AND Gregory. 2. Abigail: Although she had 'good' intentions with her choice of wardrobe, she could have just evaded Sinbad until the boat docked, or something. If she stayed away from him, what could he do to kill her? And wouldn't there be others on the ferry that would witness the murder? Also, laughing at Gregory due to issues that SHE caused also makes Abigail pretty bad... 3. Slug: Since it never says that Abigail told him the story, it is possible to assume that Slug just hurt Greg due to Greg's anger towards Abigail. But, that doesn't justify his assault on Greg at all. 4. Gregory: I totally support his reasons for leaving Abigail. But, he was a little harsh, seeing as how she was practically forced into it. But, she slept with Sinbad willingly, so she's as at fault as he is. 5. Ivan: You can't blame Ivan for not wanting to be involved. It was Abigail's business with Greg, and he respected that. Although, he could have rode the ferry with Abigail. But, there was no telling that the events that took place owuld happen, so you can hardly blame him.

1. Sinbad 2. Gregory 3. Abigail 4. Ivan 5. Slug
Explanations tiem.
-Gregory: Several reasons. First of all, if they were already in a relationship (were they? if not, ignore this part) he should have done something to help Abigail get across. Where's the chivalry? Also, even though what Abigail did was wrong, she did it for him. He should have shown at least a little sympathy instead of totally rejecting her. I was originally going to make Sinbad #1, but...Gregory deserved it more for stabbing poor Abigail in the back.
-Sinbad: He took advantage of Abigail and gave her death threats. Not nice. D<
-Abigail: *points at Hamlet* Vengeance is never good, neh? (I sound like Rathy.) Laughing at Gregory getting beat up? Not nice. Anyways, dressing skimpily is not as bad as completely rejecting your girlfriend. And I agree that she had no choice but to sleep with Sinbad if she wanted to live (and see Gregory!), 'cause...yeah, getting eaten by alligators is kind of bad.
-Ivan: If there was more explanation about him I might have put him higher. But ignoring a friend is definitely NOT something that you should do.
-Slug: He wanted to help? o_o Beating a jerkface up just because you feel sorry for his girlfriend isn't all that great, though, and he shouldn't have gotten involved in the first place, since it didn't really...involve him.
I wanna try another one. ^3^ (aaahhh, I'm so tempted to read everyone else's, but I'll control myself.)

1. Sinbad- He's a rapist... enough said, right there. 2. Ivan- It wasn't really his business, but as a supposed close friend, he ABANDONED Abigail, even though he knew full well that she didn't feel safe with Sinbad... as a friend, you should always strive to be there for your friend. We can never know for sure, but if Ivan had gone with Abigail, then Sinbad most likely would have left her alone. It's called a buddy system, and you always use it, when in shady situations. I would NEVER leave a friend by themselves! I find that abominable to do. 3. Abigail- Even though she could have easily just brought clothes to change into, when at Gregory's house, I'll look away from that. The real bad thing is that she found PLEASURE is something bad happening to Gregory. That's just a sick minded thing. 4. Gregory- In his defense, he was not given the whole story, but that gives him no right to ditch Abigail... a relationship is based upon trust and communication.... not hasty decisions, and anger. 5. Slug- He wanted to defend his friend, and that is admirable, but he totally went about it the wrong way... was it his business? Not until Abigail came to him and asked for help... he's her friend, and as a friend, it becomes his business, when she asks for help.
