Yes, the game over screen. For many gamers, It shows them that they either suck at the game, or was sooo close to beating a boss. But there are some that can possibly chill you to the bone. Such as..... But... The future refused to change. (Chrono Trigger) (Yeah, I know, it's not an actual game over screen. But it sure gave people the creeps.) And they were never heard from again. (Tales Series) You Are Dead. (Resident Evil Series) Whatever the crap this is. (Total Distortion) DISCUSS: What is your favorite Game Over Sequence? What is your least favorite Game Over Sequence? Why did the future refuse to change?

»Favourite is FFX-2 (and maybe FFX) because you get pretty music when you die. ;DD && The Resident Evil ones are nasty. Watched both videos and now I know which game I'll never buy. [ (。◕ฺˇε ˇ◕ฺ。) ♥ ]

Thanks, I just lost the game.
Disgaea 2's "Worst Ending" is as creepy as a game over. I'll link it when I get back.

What you need to do, Nymphie, is get a can of mace.
Then, when Buzz tries to smash in your face, take the mace and beat the crap out of him. Then spray him with the mace.
Then beat him some more.
But he's Buzz (Buzz means immortal in some languages), and a can of mace isn't going to stop Buzz, no matter how hard you try.
...
That's where the chainsaw comes in.

Favorite Game Over sequence? I dunno, I'll think one off the top of my head. Probably the Flash Game where you are playing a crane game, and if you lose, there's a man in a trench coat that comes out and says "YOU LOSE!!!" in many different ways.
Least favorite is also off the top of my head 'till I get a good one. Persona 3. The old guy literally gives you poetry about your death. This is what he says:
Death is not a hunter unbeknownst to its prey, one is always aware that it lies in wait. Though life merely a journey to the grave, it must not be undertaken without hope. Only then will a traveler's story live on, treasured by who bid him farewell. But alas, now my guest's life has ended, his tale left unwritten...
...they're really just punching you in the face with that one.
And the future refused to change because humans are still alive.

It's not that annoying. You can easily press the start button (or select or something) and skip it. Besides, it's poetic.
But the poetic nature loses its meaning after your 15th death to that ******** annoying Natural Dancer in Hard mode, due to its constant spamming of Garudyne and Hama and ******** YOU NATURAL DANCER, ******** YOU.

the mass effect death sequence always annoyed me, because you fell in slow motion for ******** ever and there was this irritating music and stuff.
it was a huge incentive to not die. >.>
