Whistling wind was all that could be heard for the mare as she cut across the wide open prairie. She didn't know what drove her, be it adrenaline or fear. All she knew was that she couldn't pause to look back or else she'd loose her nerve. With that thought, Sumi pumped her legs all the harder in her run. And smiled blistered lips. Her little adventure to the ocean had been anything but little. The distance traveled had toned her body, and now she was fit as a fiddle. And the many strangers she had met along the way had brought some confidence to the loner femme. All in all it had been a needed discovery for her to finally bloom out of her shell. Perhaps that was why she was enjoying the open land and clear skies so freely.
So...peacefully, for once.

Rokhan was also enjoying the crisp bright sky and clear weather, grazing lazily around the outer edges of the prairie. As he moved with the winds and enjoyed his light meal he payed no mind that he was moving ever closer to the forest. It'd been awhile since he'd stepped hoof within the quiet shelter of the trees, but he knew that should anyone or anything want anything to do with him they would make their presence known. Maybe.
Either way, the wildly "tattooed" stallion didn't really care to think much on it and shrugged it away.

A glimpse of vibrant colors caught the corner of her eye, and the mare skidded to a cautious halt. With small ears pinned up, Sumi glanced toward the source in the distance. And familiarity cut across her expression quickly before she found herself bolting toward the other soquili. She didn't give a greeting whinny until she was feet away from the other, slowing slightly as she approached. Then without a word but rather a grin, she flicked her tail at the stallion before dashing off playfully. Be it a slow dash for an easygoing chase.

As clever and quick he liked to think he was, Rokhan was completely caught off gaurd as the mare he knew as Setsumi appeared before him with a grin and a playful dash. The way she darted away from him made him blush a tad as he watched her. The movement of her legs and her long tail addled his already confused mind and it took him several moments to gather his wits and give chase.
He honestly hadn't been expecting on running into his beautiful friend so suddenly, but it was a nice reprieve from the nothing he'd been doing for several days. It was also a nice view, and blush though he might at the thought he knew he wasn't going to be able to control it. He was a stallion after all, and his deep respect and awe for the mare didn't help him quell his feelings any. What was he supposed to do anyway? The only one of his siblings that had any sort of romance in their lives was her sister, so she was out of the question in terms of advice giving. He never saw his father, and his momma was his momma. Okay, so maybe he wasn't as mature as he liked to believe, either.
Blinking in confusion and sudden sunlight, Rokhan realised he'd stopped moving whilst in thought. With a shake of his head, he glanced about for Sumi in the hopes that she hadn't noticed he'd stopped. He knew that she'd have the grace not to bring it up if he started running again before she had time to say anything, so that's exactly what he did.

Thank goodness he had heard her whinny beforehand. Else she could imagine herself running away with no one following...an embarrassing thought to be honest. Then she'd have to pause her antics to walk back humbly to the other with a more formal greeting. How...normal.
Casting her eyes back toward the other, Setsumi was surprised to see the other at a halt. Was there danger somewhere? Slowing to a stop in a blurring mess of blue mane, Setsumi paused to double check her surroundings. There was nothing of smell or sight to worry of....so what was wrong? Opening her jaw to voice her thoughts, the mare instead squeaked to find Rokhan running towards her. A trick? Kicking up a smile, she decided on a new tactic. She was feeling spontaneous for once, a nice change to her dull habits. Instead of running, the mare sprang to a defense stance with stiff knees to face the other. Just how would he react?
"Nice to cross paths again, Rokhan. And without a cloud in the sky to guide us. Hm?"

As Sumi took her stance the bigger built stallion couldn't help but smile and chuckle a bit. He'd not met her more than once, but they'd spent quite a length of time together and he hadn't of thought this sort of behavior quite in her nature. Not that he wasn't enjoying it, he felt rather light hearted himself so he couldn't blame her if the good weather was doing the same for her.
With not more than a second's thought, Rokhan decided it would be more fun to play than to question her motives or mood further and started a slow circle around her. It would have been predatory if it had been anyone but Rok, but it just wasn't in his nature. He imagined he was coming off more like a bad caricature of a predator. Like a flutter foal pretending to be a kalona. As he approached her front again, he winked and bowed deeply.
"It must be fate then, I be thinkin'."

The smile remained on her face as the other approached, and her tail gave another flick as she watched. It was strange how just different times of daylight could alter another's appearance. Like before, Rokhan had looked dreary and almost menacing in the shady cover of a rainstorm. Now? He looked nearly playful, if not completely welcoming with his tusked grin.
The change in direction to circle surprised her, and she craned her neck as he did so. Her ears followed his course as her bodyremained still, until he returned to her front and she skipped a step with her dainty hooves. His bow made her chuckle under her breath, and she held no hesitation to return the manner. "Ah? I could find that to be true. I've been told there's no thing such as coincidences. Unless we were both just attracted by the same fresh grass."

The far-southern stallion laughed deeply, giving Sestumi a skeptical look. "Aye, but there be grass as far as tha eye can see." Shaking his head dramatically, his eyes lit up as his smile got warmer. "Nah, it's settled. It be fate." Letting out a light chuckle, he pranced forward just enough to return the previous tail flicking in kind.
He wasn't quite sure what he was doing, as he wasn't typically prone to bursts of playfulness but he knew that it felt right and good to open this side of himself to the mare. He just prayed she wasn't catching on to his horrible awkwardness.

The mare rolled her eyes to his statement of the obvious terrain. She couldn't help that there was grass nearly everywhere, true. Still, she shrugged softly. "I still think it's greenest over here." She tapped a hoof to the ground she stood on. "Though, I think I be liking this fate more and more. If it be letting me see more of my familiar faces." Sumi didn't notice her slip of accent in her joy, instead flicking her tail once more in sight of Rok's motion. Her muzzle moved down to finally smell the crisp grass, nibblind some up for a quick snack as well. Wouldn't want to ignore her company just for food; that'd be rude of her. "Well then, Rokhan. I hope the spirits have been kind to you since we last meet? No more dangerous thunderstorm adventures.....?"
Just the thought and memory of the last one made her feathered spine shiver.

Not being able to control himself at all, the Momma-proclaimed "troll" let out a joyful whinny. It was promptly followed by an equally hearty laugh. He couldn't pass up the opportunity to poke fun at her mimicking him, "Are ya playin' with me, or am I jus' rubbin' off on ya?" Watching her bend her neck gracefully to nibble the 'greener' grass at their feet, Rok was moved to do the same. It did look rather tasty, and he was starting to get hungry.
He watched her thoughtfully as he chewed, but nearly lost it with another bout of the chuckles. "I wouldn'ta think o' it without ya nearby to rescue me." Winking at her, he caught her slight movement and could only guess that it was the memory of the wild storm that'd brought them together to begin with. Agreeing with the sentiment, he nodded more to himself than anything else. "Tha' was one hell of a show, ya?"

Ears fell fast and the mare even jumped an inch to the other's sudden outburst. But in the same instant she understood it was a cry of not distress, but exclamation. Setsumi smirked as she pawed the ground tenderly. "Playing? Playing at what now?" Teal eyes glanced at him with honest curiousity, not catching the joke.
And yet he continued to chuckle? The mare snuffed lightly and raised a brow at the stallion. "Is...is there something on my face? Or....oh!" Had she been juggling her speech like Rok so often does? If so, she'd hadn't caught herself. Brushing aside the small detail, she nodded back to the other. "That is one way to describe it. Hah, and me? I doubt I could save a bug let alone another soquili."

Watching Sumi in interest as she figured out what he was poking at, he winked as she caught on. He wasn't going to say any more about it, but he hadn't been able to resist it initially. At least she hadn't seemed too upset by it. He wondered if he should watch himself and his reactions to things more closely, but in reality there was no way he'd remember to do it. He was too much like the rest of his family in that regards. Eyes exuding warmth, he took a step forward and nudged Sumi's leg with his hoof.
"It may be true that I could'a survived if ya hadn't found me, but I don't be thinkin' ya should be doubting that ya saved me."

The mare blushed as the other soquili winked at her, and she gave a simple stomp in her jittery nerves. Ugh, why did she have to be so oblivious at times, it really did prove to be embarrassing. Letting her flush die down, Setsumi bent forward to nudge Rokhan's muzzle in return. It was odd for her, granted she never grew up with others to give and receive such actions. And even when she did have a 'family', such brushings were only given to her two daughters.
Bashful, she pulled back while twitching her ears. "Maybe. I'm not certain...but if anyone is to thank, it'd be the spirits, Right?"

At the touch to his muzzle, the painted stallion instantly turned a shade of purple under his eyes. She was the first non-family to ever show him affection in such a way, and though he was non-chalante about touching others he wasn't used to it ever being reciprocated. Finding that his tongue was suddenly made of wood, or cotton, or feathers, or anything not his tongue; he twitched his ears forwards and back as he tried to get it unstuck.
"Th-that'd it be," he finally stammered out. "I be thankin' the spirits everyday then."
Looking down at his hooves, he mimiced Sumi's nervous hoof stamping and smiled at the pattern in the suddenly flattened grass. "D'ya think you be thankin' them too?" He instantly realised that sounded childish, and did his best to add on to it. "I mean... Tha' we got to each make a new friend?"

Setsumi let out a shy laugh, oblivious of to Rokhan's physical reaction. Save for the stuttering, a curious thing considering the stallion was usually so confident when speak. "Tongue-tied, are you?" Well if that wasn't new, she didn't know what was. "Haha, I hope I'm not rubbing off on you then." She knew for herself that it was no comfort to be shy.
She watched as he fidgeted about, and couldn't help reaching out to tug on one of his locks. To see him so hesitant was discerning to say the least. "Hey, is everything alright? I'm sorry, just felt the need to ask..." But she paused to his question, and glanced to the side in thought. "I guess I don't thank them enough. Not yet a habit. But yes, I am thankful that we became friends. It's a rare gift, if it's true enough." She nodded softly, before looking back at Rokhan. "Are you thankful?"
