Flame watched as Renesmee pranced around the field near the lake where everyone was gathered. She was an active bundle of joy. Her and her siblings sure where a handful, but Flame loved it. Nothing was too much for him to handle. He imagined that if he were a kit, he probably would have been a handful too. He smiled and watched his children. He nuzzled Koorie, who seemed a little more tired than he did. He licked her cheek and then said, "You need to relax, Love. You're wearing yourself out." They both had had their share of sleepless nights, so he knew what it felt like to be worn out. But he was confident in his watchful eye, and their secluded home. He was glad to know that they had a safe place to live.

Renesmee was prancing in circles around Lillian, who had just gotten over the flu. She was excited that her sister would be able to play with her now. Not that she didn't enjoy playing with Shinta and Kayne, but sometimes sisters were just more fun. She had already ran around the clearing with Flame, trying to match his fast pace. She didn't know that he had slowed down for her. She crouched down and wagged her tail behind her playfully.

Kayne sat by the edge of the water, peering into it. He wanted to swim, but he was afraid. He could barely walk right, so he was sure he wouldn't be able to swim right. He wondered if Lilly knew how to swim yet. Maybe mamma would teach them he hoped. He leaned close to the water and sniffed at it curiously.

Koorie let out a soft moan, exhausted. She'd spent the last few days getting minimal amounts of sleep as she cared for her daughter through the flu. She was the one who was constantly pushing aside her needs for her children; making sure they were properly fed, sleeping well, not getting hurt to badly. For someone who was so cold to everyone, she made a wonderful mother. "Oh shush, I'll relax once the world is safe for them...."

Lillian, now called Lilly for short, giggled and rolled onto her back as her sister pranced and lept about her. Reaching out, she tried to catch Renesmee with her paws. She couldn't prance like her sister, but it didn't mean she didn't have as much fun.

Looking away from Flame, Koorie saw that Kayne was close to the water and, without a seconds hesitation, slipped into the water and surfaced smoothly near him. "Climb on in, Kayne, it's safe while I'm in here."

Shinta lay out on a flat rock, watching his siblings play and roll about. He was protective over them, even though he would never be able to share their water world. He was exactly like his father, and was able to hold no power over water. He did, however, pick up his mother's calm nature, which caused him to be a lot more careful and protective over his siblings.

Flame sighed, "It is safe. It's safe here. And you know that I wouldn't dare let anything happen to them." She didn't seem to notice how careful he was of them, or how watchful he was. Maybe it was because she herself was too busy keeping an eye on them. She wouldn't notice that he had been doing the same.

He watched as she slipped into the water, apparently to teach Kayne to swim. He smiled and walked over to the rock Shinta was laying on. Shinta was the calmest of them, always watching. Flame smiled at him as he approached. "Shinta," he said, as a greeting, and plopped down on a much bigger rock next to his. It felt good to lay down after running around.

Renesmee giggled as she jumped over Lilly's paws, the game being not to get caught. Finally after turning one more circle about her sister she pounced on top of her, causing them both to roll. Renesmee already had good control over the flames that ruled her body. She could tame them, and that's what she did as she rolled about in the grass, so that nothing was caught on fire.

Kayne watched his mom carefully, feeling better that she was there, but still scared to get in. He placed a paw carefully in the water and then took it back out quickly. It was cold. He looked at Koorie with wide eyes and asked, "You...you won't lemme fall will you mamma?" He meant sink, but, he didn't know the difference. Sinking was just falling in water ayways.

Shinta looked up when Flame approached him, then smiled. "Dad...." He was probably the most developed of the four kits; he didn't have problems when he spoke, and he could walk and run better than Renesmee.

Lilly giggles, wrapping her paws around her sister. "Ren-Ren!" She laughed out loud, rolling gently with the other female. "What do ya wanna doooo?" She grinned, pinning her sister.

Koorie smiled softly, floating on her back. "I'll be here to make sure you're alright, Kayne. I would never let anything bad happen to you." Her heart melted when he called her 'mamma'; he was her son, and he was beautiful. The realization that she got every time she saw these four made her heart overflow; they were the creation of the most pure essence on earth.

Flame relaxed, the sun felt wonderful on his back and made his flames blaze bright. He loved that feeling. He kept his eyes on Renesmee and Lilly, knowing that Kayne was with Koorie, and that Shinta was right beside him.
"You're keeping an eye on them too, aren't you?" He asked Shinta. He knew that Shinta was going to be a good brother to them all.

Renesmee beamed at her nickname. She knew her name was hard to say, and she liked the different nicknames that it had gotten her so far. She squirmed and giggled under Lilly until she rolled her off. Despite Lilly having no back legs, she was strong. Must be all those tail muscles. Renesmee hadn't gotten much strength, although she sure could run fast! She was still outdone by Shinta though, but she didn't mind. Her little mind was so full of other fascinating things, she didn't focus on silly things like who was faster or stronger. "Lil-Lil!" she cooed. "I dun know. What do you wanna do?" She tilted her head at the end, something she seemed to do a lot.

Kayne smiled, his mother's words taking all his fear away. He trusted her. Besides, the water was nothing compared to his mamma. She was the best when it came to the water. He inched back a bit, like he was going to get a running start. As if he could run... He hopped forward until he flopped into the water. He wiggled his tail viciously until his head popped out of the water.
"I'm swimmin mamma!" he shouted. In his excitement, he accidentally swallowed in a little too much water, causing him to cough and cling to Koorie.

Shinta smiled, looking over his two sisters. "Yes...." He didn't speak much, but what he lacked in words, he made up in actions. He was protective over his siblings and he loved his parents and being around them. He then looked up at his father. "Mum says I look like your clone... what's a clone?"

Lilly scruntched up her face, thinking, then grinned brightly. "Esploring! Lets go esploring!

Koorie held Kayne close to her, chuckling softly. "That's right, cough out all that water, sweety." She nuzzled the top of his head. "You're going to be a very strong swimmer, aren't you?" Her heart went out to the little kit as he attempted to swim; he was truly a brave one.

Flame grinned and chuckled a little bit. "A clone is a duplicate." He turned to face him for a moment, "So she thinks you look just like me."

Renesmee smiled brightly. "Okay! Sploring! What we gonna splore?"

After Kayne had finished coughing all the water out he smiled up at his mom. "Yeah, just like you mamma!"

Shinta coughed a little. "Well.... I am the only one without fins...." Part of him was hurt that he looked so different from his siblings, but he'd never admit it out loud. At least not when there was anyone there to hear him.

Lillian wagged her entire back half excitedly. "Lets look for the magical toodshtool kingdem!"

Koorie smiled and nuzzled her nose to his lovingly. "Who knows, maybe you'll be better than me, Kayne, sweety." All the nervousness she'd felt before about children, and all of that terrifying guilt of who and what she was had slipped away. She had a place in life now, complete with a loving mate and four beautiful children.

"Yes," Flame agreed, "...except for me." He added with a smile. He knew what he had meant, but he didn't want Shinta to feel quite as alone. Not that having fins and not having fins made him that way in anyway, but he did wonder how it felt.

Renesmee widened her eyes, curious to what her sister was talking about. It sounded quite exciting, but she was afraid that she didn't know which way to go. She looked around a little bit field, rocks, rivers, and ponds around them and then back to Lilly. "Which way is the magical toodshtool kingem?"

Kayne chuckled and then coughed one more time. He blinked and looked up at Koorie. "Ya really think so mama?" He then squirmed around in her arms, wanting to have another try at swimming.

Shinta closed his eyes and smiled a little. He really did love his dad, and he was probably closer to him than anyone else in the family, aside from Lillian. He looked up at Flame, a question in his eyes. "Do you think it would be ok... if I left here when I get older?"

Lillian giggled, batting gently at Renesmee. "Ren-ren, we needs to FIND the kingem! We needs to go searchin'!" She wiggled her fins more, ten started crawling off towards the fields.

"I know so, my darling...." Koorie chuckled softly and gently let go of her son, watching him carefully to help him if there was any trouble.

Flame was a little surprised by Shinta's question, although he didn't find it odd. It was normal to leave home when you were older, but thinking of doing so at a young age like Shinta, that was what surprised him. He smiled gently at Shinta and answered his question.
"Of course, it's normal to leave when you're older Shinta. Someday you'll want to find a home and a family of your own." He chuckled and then added, "But it's still quite early for that."

Renesmee followed her slowly, wondering how they would manage to get anywhere at such a slow pace. They hadn't gotten very far before Flame noticed them.

He stood up and looked at them curiously, wondering what they were up to. He tossed his fiery head towards Shinta and grinned. "Let's go see what your sisters are up to, shall we?"

Kayne grinned confidently now, and wiggled around in the water with ease. Swimming was easy when you had a finned tail. He still wasn't very strong, but the pond they were in was calm and peaceful. He swam a few circles around Koorie and then snuggled back into her arms. "I'm tired, mama."
