Fel... why do you hate America so much?
  One word: Texas.
Or Bush, that works as well.
Or the economy going down the tubes.
Or the fact that the majority of the nation thinks Socialists = Communists
Or... well, you get the point.

... what my parents are going to do when I tell them I'm applying for Norwegian universities.

I mean, there's no tuition, so they can't complain about the cost. Even with living prices here and the costs of plane tickets, it's still cheaper than any American university save for perhaps Texas public universities (-shudder-) due to the fact that they're in-state.

But I can almost guarantee that they'll flip out because I'm pretty much leaving America for good, if everything works out well.

But really, NTNU in Trondheim and Trømsø Universitet have exactly what I'm looking for concerning studies. And they're outside of America. And they're inexpensive.

Now all I have to do is get in. And manage to pass a Norwegian proficiency test. If it's anything like an English Language Proficiency Test, it'll be pretty easy. Not yet, but in a few months. My goal: near-fluency by mid-year stay.

LOL, if you think America is going down the pan, you should come visit England for a while.

We were looking at a magazine yesterday, which compared several countries. I don't know how accurate it was, but it said that, per 100 000 people, just less than 7 times more people were in jail, in America than in England. And our crime rate was around the same.

That was a bit off topic.

I can't blame you, Fel. Personally, I want to get out of America. I'd start off small and quick - Canada. If the husband's up for it, France; parce que j'ai parlé français deupis quatre annee et j'aime le pays vraiment.

However, on the parent front? Well, there isn't a whole lot they can do to stop you, but they'll probably be a bit upset. But, pfft, who intentionally lives in Texas? Ew.

I bid you good luck with becoming fluent ^^;

Ouch. Yeah, I had an oral report to deliver in Historie og Filosofi today.

Uh... I think mine took twice as long as it should have because I stumbled over every word longer than four syllables (and in Norwegian, that's a LOT of words).

However, I do like that in Spanish, I can pronounce it correctly while no-one else can. It means that while the teacher is getting everyone else to pronounce the 'ñ' correctly, I can work on getting my knowledge of the grammar and vocabulary up to speed. And at least I have my textbook now.

But I can see how French could be hard. Looking at it, the pronunciation makes absolutely no sense at all. I guess the same could probably be said for Norwegian and English, but the former I'm getting to be fairly well acquainted with as I'm speaking it (badly) every day and the latter I grew up with. I was quite happy when I went to get my school laptop today and the IT guy at the school didn't realize I was foreign until he couldn't pronounce my name. We were supposed to get them on Friday, but I was at the police station getting my residency permit.

Apparently, French last names aren't too common in Norway.

I've never had any difficulty in french, except with some of the exceptions - Which I know I'd struggled with in English when I was younger.

Oh? What is you last name, should you feel comfortable sharing? :3

No, it's not the actual french. I'm actually better than them at french, which is wierd considering how they've been doing GCSE french for a year.

The teacher asked me which school I'd come from, and I had to say in front of the entire class. Immediatly, there was snickering, everyone was staring at me, and I heard one guy whisper, "Ask her if she's from a council estate, dare ya. How the hell did she get in here? She probably can't even count to 10."

I. Hate. Exceptions. So much. Mostly because Spanish is all like, "There's this rule. But there's an exception here. And here. And here. And here. And here. And here. And here. And...."

Bellamy. It's a mutated form, and we have no idea where the heck it got to us, since we're not French so far as we know, but there you have it.

Someone could've married across; Or, Depending on how old it is you could have swapped. My Teacher's last name is from the name of a farming village her great great grandfather (he'd bee 230years old by now) took on because he detested his stepfather's last name.
